Having become rather jaded of late with current offerings, I was more than pleasantly surprised by this one. I haven't finished it yet so I can't give a complete review, suffice to say so far, so good. CE bling includes collectible hearts in each scene, not always obvious and no changing cursor, (yippee!) and morphs in the HO scenes. The HOs themselves are nicely different, part interactive, some lists, some silhouettes and interesting to play. Puzzles have varied from the easy to the head-scratching without being too frustrating. I really want to know how the story will unfold and I'm really enjoying playing it. What more needs to be said?
Truly, if this is as far as we can get with Lynn's story then let this be the last, it's awful. The storyline, for want of a better word, lacks any sort of cohesion or logic. The gameplay is stilted and frustrating because you just end up looking at the map to find out where to go next and then when you get there you wish you hadn't bothered. Collectable jigsaw pieces give you 4 x 12 piece jigsaws - big wow. It's just so boring, save your money.
I really wanted to like this one having read the reviews but I find it rather boring and lacking in challenge. It's a bit like a HOPA hidden in a chick-flick which in itself isn't to condemn it but it ain't my cup of tea. Yes, there are loads of anachronisms but it's a game not a documentary so I can put up with that. Gameplay, graphics etc were well done so I cannot say it was a bad game. Maybe I'm getting jaded but this one left me cold.
Anybody who has ever played an MCF game will have to have this one. How can we not be interested in what happens to the evil Dalimar dynasty - even though there are quite a few contradictions in the genealogy department! Great puzzles as is to be expected from this series, just the right amount of HOs and plenty of adventure.
Now I'm getting older, I find my once prodigious memory now resembles a sieve so if I were playing this game I would need to take copious notes or rely on the map which can be done if using custom mode. The reason I dropped a star from the rating is that in my opinion, the CE is the preferred option. Not only do you get the bling and the extra play but there's the wonderful safety net of the strategy guide for those who, like me, prefer not to use the hint button.
I've loved this series. This is a really good continuation and finale with loads of puzzles, interaction and a good story which rips along very nicely. I suppose it is adventure orientated rather than hidden object although the HOs did have the morphs which I love. As has been the case throughout this series, the production is slick - appropriate for the film studios it portrays. There's such a lot to enjoy, just play it. Sad to see the end but as the saying goes - always leave your public wanting more.

I got this game as the second part of a buy one get one free so I didn't have any major hopes for it especially when the more negative reviews came out. At the start of the game, I thought it held quite a bit of promise even though the storyline has been practically done to death. It was entertaining enough in an uncomplicated sort of way and there were no glitches which is good. The cursor didn't change to a hand when searching for collectibles which is welcome. However, as the game progressed I did become a bit bored with it. As others have said, it's definitely more for beginners but so what? Not every game should offer such a challenge as to put people off playing this genre so I do think there is a need for games at this level. I'd recommend it on that basis.
This is a very enjoyable game which has kept me entertained without the brain being strained. Sometimes it's nice just to let a game flow, immersing yourself in the story and the gameplay which in this case involves rogue flower dealers and naughty bankers. The graphics are excellent, the music a little mournful but anything else would be inappropriate. Hidden object scenes are relatively straight forward and the puzzles I've encountered have not been arduous. There are collectibles - and your cursor doesn't change to a hand when you reach them which makes a nice change. As always with this series, you have a botanist's kit to analyse the killer pollen. It's all rather fun without an awful lot of challenge; I have no hesitation in recommending that you give it a try at least.
This game was way too short to be a decent CE; thank goodness for that. The "story" was ludicrous, the characters non-existent as well as ugly, collectibles were so obvious, the game play was cliché after cliché after cliché and the challenge was low. I mean, instructions to light a candle? How this game received such rave reviews and 5 stars is beyond me. I wouldn't put it in the same time zone as Nevertales: Legends let alone give it the same rating.
I don't recommend this game.

Off the Record: The Final Interview Collector's Edition
This was very nearly a five star but, for me, it just fell a bit short. There were morphs, sneaky collectibles, loads of puzzles, all of which went down very well although as a personal preference I could do without the HOs with the plus item clues.
The reasons I dropped the fifth star were: for a story about horse racing, it didn't exactly move at a swift gallop; it irritated me that I was blamed for a dying man finally popping his clogs; if you're going to base a game in England, which is most welcome, please get the uniforms and accents right and don't sound like something from Mary Poppins. I must, however, give credit to the developers for using an actual MGB GT instead of a generic drawn sports car.
I recommend this game!

Whispered Secrets: Golden Silence Collector's Edition
A man has gone missing in the town of Rockshire, but the townspeople deny he was ever there. What dark secret are they hiding?
Is it me or are we getting a lot of games lately that send us down mines? Game play was a bit routine on this one but it played along quite nicely so I'll forgive it that. No morphs (lose a star right away) but the collectibles, two crystals in each scene , did make you have to look quite carefully so well done on that front.
I played a game recently where it was possible to opt for a male or female voice or none at all - if only that were available on all games and especially this one. I always find it rather irritating when the plotline has the world in peril, the universe at the point of utter destruction and our hero/heroine makes a banal comment as if walking round the supermarket on the hunt for bargains. It detracts hugely from any sort of drama or atmosphere which may have been building up. Rant over.
Puzzles were mainly enjoyable with a few duds so I think a 3 star rating is about right. I will recommend it because I think the good far outweighs the bad.
