I don't give 5 stars lightly but, for me, this is fully deserving of them. It is much more adventure and puzzle orientated than it is a hidden object game; even the "hidden object" scenes are more like puzzles so if you're a big HO fan, it might not be for you. The story may be contrived but, what the heck, it was really enjoyable, provided a lot of fun - and I mean a lot - with a substantial bonus game too. I recommend without reservation.
Ok, I may be getting a bit blasé about things but I thought this game was quite good at best. When I played my first Off the Record - The Italian Affair- I was completely blown away; it was fantastic, 5 stars easily, but this one so far has failed to grip. The story promises much but it lacks any excitement for me.
Let's just say I'm off to cook the tea now and I'm not annoyed that I have to leave off playing nor will I hasten back when my much beloved is doing the washing up. I also agree with Janey from the North West about the question/answer thing. Oh tedious! Stop it! I'll recommend it only because I hope it gets better.

This is a very good addition to an excellent series with all the CE bling you could wish for. The artwork is outstanding with that marvellous art deco feel which I love. Good storyline and voiceovers - although the Veronica actress overdid it a little in the bonus chapter when she was handcuffed. Blimey, was she serving at Wimbledon?
Why haven't I given it 5 stars? Maybe I'm getting a bit complacent about the quality that's available now or it could be that when I'd finished playing it I didn't go "Wow!" I can't see the point in giving 5 stars to a game just because it's very good, 5 stars should blow your socks off which this one didn't. However, I recommend it - and the series - wholeheartedly.
This game is huge! If you like straight forward HO heavy games, then this isn't for you; this is primarily an adventure game with a few highly interactive HOs thrown in. Puzzles are not too stressing yet provide a certain challenge. Storyline does have a few gaping holes here and there but, what the heck, it makes up for it by being so immersing and so lengthy; even the bonus was of a good length. I have only two gripes: the first is that characters' voices repeat themselves if you click on an area twice and the second is that in the extras section, one puzzle is unavailable until you get all the achievements one of which is to complete the game in difficult mode. I ain't that good! All in all, many hours of entertainment; I thoroughly recommend that you give it a go.
This is very much Nevertales: The Beauty Within Take 2. Graphics, characters, voices are exactly the same and, if I'm honest, gameplay isn't that much different either. However, it is a very enjoyable game to play, good variety of puzzles, HOGs, and a nice story to follow. Extras are quite good - replay of various puzzles and mini-games, some enhanced, and HOGs as well as a decent length bonus game. It's not the greatest game you will ever play but it's certainly worth a go.
As others have said, this was a very short game; thank goodness for that, it saved me from being bored all afternoon. The first two in this series were fun, entertaining and provided good play. This, however, seemed like something that has been churned out because it was Christmas and the developer felt obliged to produce something for the festive market. Game play was tedious in the extreme with no real logic to what path should be followed. Puzzles were boring with useless instructions, so much so that I skipped some of them because I couldn't be mithered - always a bad sign. I finished the entire game and bonus and shan't be repeating it in a hurry if indeed I bother at all.
Whatever the merits of this game, they do not belong to the MCF storyline. It's like Rocky VI - enough! Draw a line and finish it if you can only come up with this pale imitation.
I got through it after a few days, a couple of hours at a time, now I'm part way through it again to see if I was wrong with my original assessment. No, I was right, chat, chat and more blooming chat, characters standing around like Piffy on a rock cake, while you bravely trudge forward trying to solve ridiculous nonsensical puzzles. Fun? I don't think so.
I have played all of the games in this series and have enjoyed them all - until this one. It has been sold using the series name as an enticement to buy but it bears no similarity. Very disappointing.
Yes, it is a beautifully presented game but the challenge, the story, the credibility were all sadly lacking. Once again, stealing children, mad kidnappers and good people sent over to the dark side by grief. What's new? As others have mentioned, the need to do stupid things before attending to "the emergency" is irritating at best and strains credibility. For instance, at one point I was hurled into the deep by our crazed villain, I had to find oxygen bubbles before I drowned #I was tempted to say, just let me go, I've had enough# then I had to find and use matches on dynamite - underwater?? I've nearly finished it now, I shall limp through the rest shouting Yippee when I've got another collectable owl because means I'm nearing the end. I cannot understand how this has got such rave reviews; do people just do half of the trial then decide it's yet another "masterpiece"? How this can be rated alongside Cadenza for example, is beyond me.
I don't often give 5 stars nor do I review before I've completed the game but this is an exception. The story is so involving, the atmosphere brilliant, the play smooth, the puzzles and HOs clear and fair. And it's got morphing items which I love! I'll leave the details to others, all I'll say is - marvellous! Buy it!
