An excellent CE value with long gameplay, involved and long story, many tasks to accomplish in your adventure as Queen Valera.
Cast of characters--Valera's blacksmith father, grandfather, dwarf driver, Russian grandmother looking shopkeeper
Music--the best I have encountered in an HOG, with an original lullaby sung by Valera's mother when Valera was a babe
Poetic touches throughout the story if you are the literary-type
Graphics--very good. I would have preferred higher resolution graphics and better looking characters.
The CE version has a bonus chapter where Valera rescues Northpearl. Bonus chapter unlocks after completing main story. Collectible flames hidden in each scene can be retrieved after main & bonus chapter completed without having to play game again. There is a bonus HO game which is a summation of objects encountered throughout the game. They have videos showing how the game was developed and the people who created the game, which I thought was a nice touch.
I normally don't buy CEs unless they are a very good value, and this game makes the cut. I think you will miss out if you opt for the SE.
I recommend this game!

Graphics--outstanding. Clear, bright, crisp. Characters are life-like. Everything is well done. Wish all HOGs had this level of quality. Contemporary settings.
Storyline--plausible, engaging, mystery
Mini games--good
HOS--good, more selective than most games, with an emphasis on findings items instrumental to advancing the plot.
The only shortcoming of the game that prevents me from giving it 5 stars is it's on the short side of gameplay. I would have liked the game to go on longer since all the elements were executed so well.
I recommend this game!

Storyline--imaginative, original, engaging
Voiceovers--good. Characters speak at normal pace instead of caterpillar pace for stunted readers
Graphics--very good to excellent. The mythical castle is particularly breathtaking. Characters are clear and sharp, but definitely computer generated and somewhat robotic looking.
Music-fits well with the story and not annoying
Games--easy to moderately challenging. I had to consult the walkthrough several times to get past, but a good mix to keep you interested.
HOS--straightforward, nothing fancy. Some items are small and well hidden. You can always play Mahjong if you want to skip HO.
Hard mode allows Hint & Skip feature, which I wish every game has
The baby Griffin is your helper for retrieving items high up in the scene. He is adorable, especially when he 1st hatches from his egg. A nice touch to the game.
I highly recommend this game. A fantastic value for an SE game. It is quite a long game if played in Hard mode, without being frustrating.
I will be looking for more similar games from Sunward devs.
I recommend this game!

This was my 1st foray into the Haunted Hotel series and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the plot, mini games and HOS.
Despite the title, it's not spooky or gory. More of a mystery with a love triangle thrown in for good measure.
I really felt like I was the detective in the game. This is one series I will look into collecting.
I recommend this game!

This is an excellent original HOG adventure story taking place in an ice kingdom with dwarves as sidekicks, magical polar bear, tomboy princess, and ruthless evil king right-hand-man.
There are plenty of conventional HOS plus HO within the narration of the background story. There are matching and shooting mini games in between for a nice mix.
High resolution graphics and characters make the immersion experience more enjoyable and is a feast for the eyes.
Another excellent offering from Mad Head Games. Highly recommend this game.

This is an above average HOG detective/mystery in contemporary times. Wish there were more of these types than the ones about spooks and ghosts.
The graphics are above average. It feels like a movie where you are the detective.
Taking place in Venice, I wish more of the HOS and tasks had more eye candy related to Italy. There were some nice interiors, but too few in my opinion.
One gimmick to the game is the use of a camera to find a clue for your next task. If you are playing Hard mode, when you come across an area and the camera icon pops up, you have to click on the camera at bottom right corner to the mini puzzle, click on appropriate filter, and adjust the "lens" to find the clue. I forgot about that and couldn't figure out why nothing was happening when I clicked on the camera icon (telling you to use the camera). Duh.
It's a fun caper with a surprising twist. At the end of game, you will understand the double entendre meant by the title "The Italian Affair." Ciao!
I recommend this game!

Despite the title, there is no blood or gore. The only "blood" in the game are the blood red demon eyes of the kids nabbed by Mary. The bodacious babe on cover of game is "Bloody Mary" --too pretty to be bloodthirsty monster.
There are a few PG rated spooky scenes and special effects Graphics are otherwise so-so.
There are a lot of tasks on your journey to rescue the kids, making for a decently long game, and there are 3 rooms closed off in SE, so they must be for CE version.
Overall, this is an above average mystery/detective HOG. More like a 3-1/2 stars, except we can't give half stars.
I recommend this game!

This is a well tread storyline, but done much better in other games. Not a fun game to play Hardcore mode, when 50% of tasks to accomplish are not intuitive at all.
The princess starts out with green eyes at beginning of story and eyes become blue as an adult--Huh?
Tasks to accomplish get dragged out considerably.
Not impressed at all.
I don't recommend this game.

Parts of the game weren't intuitive--had to consult walkthrough for help.
I like the genre of this story, but got frustrated with logic of tasks required to advance through the story.
Somewhat short game.
There are better games out there with more bells and whistles, special effects, and imaginative riffs on classic legends and myths.
I don't recommend this game.

I played the SE version for all 3 Riddles of Fate series, and this is my least favorite of the 3. It appears to be the 2nd in the series and takes off from Wild Hunt, where Death was introduced. Here Death enlists you to nab 3 villains who have cheated Death, and as a result, wreaked havoc on the natural order of things. 3 cases to solve with a twist in the ending.
You will have to teleport from your detective office where you have apparatus to make keys (but only if you find the paper template for the key) and a machine that can reveal photos, hidden ink or drawings. You may have to concoct monster antidotes in your office, too. So there is a lot of going back and forth from office to crime scene etc.
The basic tenet of the story is off to a good start, but the devs seem to have lost energy, ideas, and inspiration, so you are left with a game that does not fulfill the potential and greatness achieved in Wild Hunt and Into Oblivion.
Save your money and buy Wild Hunt and Into Oblivion. This one stinks in my opinion.
I don't recommend this game.
