The storyline does have a lot of monsters and is beyond the usual for this series but the writer in me enjoyed it. It seemed as if the developers were having a bit of fun with it.
Game play is basic and not difficult. Sometimes, the inventory gets large (not a favorite of mine) but in general, the HOPs are the usual fare, as other reviewers have mentioned. Perhaps if the HOPS had been as unexpected as the storyline, this would be a 5 star game. It would for me.
My review is based upon completed play of the game.
I recommend this game!

I love the diversity in these reviews. Like most, I have my favorite reviewers but sometimes, we disagree. On this day, I enjoyed this game, found the dialogue fun, the pace was okay, and overall, the HOPs were entertaining, with a few exceptions.
I'm not a big fan of this series, and this storyline was all over the place, which amused me on this day and may not have on another. Other reviewers have done great job (as always) with the details.
My review is based upon completed play of the game.
I recommend this game!

The graphics are beyond excellent. The detail is stunning, even in the cut scenes. I don't care for this genre generally but the excellent reviews (on the CE as well as here) had me waiting for the SE (I am not a collector).
I was not disappointed, as this is one of the best HOPA games I've played. For me that means the developer integrated the the HOPS with the storyline and there is not a lot of fetch and carry. The storyline is nothing new but it's well told. Bravo, Elephant Games!
My review is based upon completed play of the game. Oh, and don't wait until Halloween to try this game. It plays in any season.
I recommend this game!

I want to like this series and have bought both games (SE as I am not a collector). This storyline is much stronger than the first but it begins to bog down when we learn how Mary is involved. It's not the storyline as much a it is the piling on of HOPs and mini-games. After a while, I lost the thread of the story, and that is not good in a mystery. However, the story gets stronger as the game progress.
I like these whodunnit mystery games and my bias is adventure over HOP games but a 4 or 5 star game integrates HOPs into the adventure seamlessly. To me, this series is perfect for that but it just doesn't quite work, although this is a good storyline, some nice twists and a particularly good ending. The quality of the HOPs is quite good, not too hard or easy and a bit different than the usual fare.
I hope there is a game three in the series because there is so much about this game that sets it apart from others, especially graphics and music. Hopefully, all of it will come together in the next game. I will buy it to find out.
My review is based upon completed play of the game.
I recommend this game!

As others have mentioned, I would love to see more historical fiction games, especially when they are this well done. There are surprises in this storyline and that does not happen often. Bravo, Vendel! I really look forward to more games in this series and others!
The detail in this game is just fabulous and flawless, so realistic. HOPs are many but fun and the puzzles fit right into the storyline, always a plus with me.
To say any more would only repeat what other reviewers have said. My review is based upon completed play of the game.
I recommend this game!

This game has it all! Its storyline is so unique and intriguing that I hoped the game would never end. It's just not predictable, which is rare, offering a realistic look at what scares us and, maybe, why. It will be a hard act to follow. I have always liked this series but Grandma Studios is in a league of its own with this game. Bravo!
Visually, this game is gorgeous, even when it is being creepy. The detail in the animals is simply stunning. I spent a lot of time just admiring each scene, in awe of the work. I loved being in this world! Oh, the music was perfect for each scene, only a little of which I have heard before. Again, a rare quality in games.
The HOPs have something for everyone: traditional, morphs, interactive, and (I think) one fragmented. It's a nice mix throughout the game, with a few more HOPs at the end. The mini-games have an easy/hard option and while some are familiar, others are new or a variation on an old game.Because the pacing in this game is so well done, HOPs and mini-games have a natural feel to them.
I don't purchase CE editions, as I am not a bling collector but I am tempted to buy this one just for the bonus chapters, of which I understand there are two.
My review is based on completed play of the game. Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

This is a Christmas game about the spirit of Christmas, a great idea but for me, the story turns into a lot of fetch and carry, not a favorite task of mine in HOPA games. Nonetheless, the graphics are gorgeous so I enjoyed the scenery as I ran back and forth, hoping the story would take hold.
That said, this is a good family game, full of good cheer, with the occasional bah humbug character who eventually gets into the spirit. The hidden object games are quite good and the puzzles easy but sometimes a bit confusing in what is needed. However, that may be my issue and not the game's.

Truly, this is a unique storyline so if you are looking for a Christmas game that is light, fun, and with tremendous graphics and animation, this is your game. The HOPs are not the usual but integral to the game, and the mini games are the same, and in their own way, challenging. It's a Christmas game to stand the test of time, for me, anyway.

I kept expecting more (intrigue?) in this game until I stopped myself. I remembered what makes a HOPA game: putting together/using objects (after gathering inventory) to help solve a mystery, save the world, or rescue some deserving person. This paranormal mystery game delivers in every way.
In the game play there is not a lot of back and forth; there are fun (and interesting) twists to tasks, as well as the expected (keys, locks, batteries, etc.) as other reviewer have described; there is good, solid dialogue, and occasional humor. Rick Rogers does not take himself too seriously, and I really appreciate that, sort of paranormal light in a good way.
Other reviewers have done a fair and good job relaying the crux of the story as well as providing specifics about graphics, HOPs, and mini-games. I always appreciate that. Thank you.
I purchased this game, as I really like this series but also because of the reviews. The series storylines are varied, there is usually a bit of tongue-in-cheek, and the series integrates the tasks into the storyline, immersing the player into each game.
None of this can be easy to do and Elephant Games consistently delivers, be it this series or others. Well done, again, and thank you!
My review is based upon completed play of the game. Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

Other reviewers have done a great job of describing the storyline so I am going with the reviewer who thought the storyline was all over the place. It was.
Perhaps what is so disappointing is I love this series, and this game is a part of it in name only. For me, the demon connection to the Egyptian mythology just doesn't make it, as accurate as the mythology may be.
Big Giant games is a favorite developer of mine but again, this game doesn't measure up to their usual offering. The mini games are in short supply and some are not puzzles at all. The game dwindles to find an object, then maybe a puzzle or interactive HOP (most of these pretty good) in order to finally put together the soul of Horus, with an occasional visit by a demon.
The graphics range from stunning to average, again not typical of this series or the developer. All of this said, this game might be for you so try the demo and read the reviewers of those who really liked the game.
