Since I purchased a laptop with touch screen, I do have some trouble with Elephant Games, some more than others. Disabling special effects usually solves cursor issues but this one was trying at times. That said, my hands are not what they used to be either.
The storyline is what makes this game for me, and it is true that emblems are a trait of Elephant Games but there are other tasks in this game and the play is well integrated with the storyline as tends to happen when there are fewer scenes to explore per task. However, this game does not lack for scenes as there are some excellent plot twists, each requiring its set of scenes.
Hidden object scenes were a bit dull with a few notable exceptions and while many of the puzzles are not my favorites, a lot of them were. I'm not a collectibles fan but many seemed a bit obscure to me when I did notice.
I continue to enjoy this series, especially the development of Rick Rodgers in absentia, with strong character growth/development of the paranormal team.
This review is based upon completion of the main game and bonus chapter.
DragonsEye Studios, thank you for a new perspective in the HOPA genre! In particular, the hidden object scenes are absolutely awesome. What a wonderful game!
There is depth in the storyline--probably does help a bit if you played the original game as this is a sequel but it's not necessary--the non-linear pace offers the player a chance to try new ways to complete tasks. I didn't care for the music but that's easily remedied. Oh, and there's plenty of fun in finding collectibles and morphing objects.
I look forward to more games from DragonsEye Studios and thank you BF for giving this indie a chance!
My review is based upon completed play of the main game and bonus chapter.
This is such a fine game for any player, no matter how long they have been playing. Serious, long time players will notice the unique features and newer players will have the delight of experiencing what is possible in a HOPA.
Hidden object scenes (mostly interactive) and mini-game/puzzles are seamlessly integrated with a brilliant and unique story line. The work and heart that went into this game! Well done, Friendly Fox, and thank you!
My review is based upon completed play of the main game and partial play of the bonus game.
What fun this game is but I am an adventure game lover so a bit biased yet this is a good game if you've been wanting to try the genre. Of course, this game also falls into the "escape room" category but because the pace and structure is confined, you have to think but there are hints and plenty of help, just no hand holding.
Thanks so much, BF, for this adventure and intro to this indie developer. More of this, please.
I enjoyed the complexity of the storyline, in particular its depth, although it is a bit obtuse at times, and I am not referring to the changing out of detectives (a feature I have always enjoyed in this series).
Overall, it feels the game was rushed into development so there are some technical flaws (not glitches that affect the game) and gaps in the storyline but there is also a lot of nuance in the plot. That was my focus and overall, the pace and game play were well integrated.
I wish Elephant Games had taken a bit more time before releasing the game because it could be an easy 5.0 game. Kudos for a bonus chapter that pulls together the main game, mostly. Again, this could have been brilliant. My 4.0 rating is for what might have been. Keep it up, Elephant Games. I like the changes you are making. Just take your time.
Another reviewer called this a "breakout" game, which is exactly what it is, IMO. And because this is so different from other games, it will not fit into the category of past psychological thrillers or creep factor games. Those familiar with visual novels will understand the importance and relevance of choices. I really love this aspect of the game.
There has been a hue and cry for different games, and Elephant has delivered in a big way! Well done, Elephant Games, and thank you!! I can hardly wait for the next game in this series, as the bonus chapter (so well done) hints at all kinds of possibilities.
Overall, I found the structure of this game a bit clunky so I struggled with this 3 star rating but for me, the game is not a 4 star. A 3.5 rating is more accurate.
There was a lot of emblem seeking/placing that seemed extraneous to the pace of the game. The storyline is good but with a bit of secondary character development, perhaps those emblems would not have seemed so many. As another reviewer mentioned, the puzzles/mini-games are good and the hidden object scenes play quickly.
To me, the background of this game is a bit dark in most scenes and in some places the contrast is non-existent. This is not the only game I have found that and wonder if this is a trend???? I believe another reviewer mentioned this in a review for another game.
My review is based upon completed play of the main game.
Good for you, Domini, in creating a new series with some new hidden object scenes and mini-games/puzzles. Also the tasks and inventory gathering were more integrated to the storyline so there were fewer but better (IMO) and not as much repetition of looking for the same object with a new task. Still more repetition than I would like but it is obvious Domini was trying some different game play ideas, and I liked them. Looking forward to the next game in this series,

Solid game play with some interesting mini-games/puzzles and a few variations in the hidden object scenes. Graphics and music superb. It's great to get to know the mythology of other countries so thanks Elephant Games for this yule men story.
I love what you are doing with the MCF series and am anxiously awaiting the next episode. MCF has always been about change, and with Pendle Tower that remains true. The game is inventive and has one of the best storylines I've played.
Another reviewer mentioned the storyline was not quite as developed as it could have been (and I agree, somewhat) but this is a complex tale and maybe sets the stage for a future episode??? Whether it does or not I was intrigued and the bonus chapter brought the existing story together, formalizing much of what the player surmised.
For me, the puzzles/mini-games were just right and I enjoyed the HO scenes--all were well integrated into the pace of the play. I particularly liked the way we get information about the story and characters, beyond cut scenes. Quite refreshing.
There is so much that is so different for GRandMA, and I hope it continues not only in this series but in others. Can't say enough good about this game, really. As I say, I hope the trend continues.
