In my title I would have said "worst game ever" but lately I seen some real doozies!
I won't even bother with the story line as you can read other reviews for that or BF's version at the top of this page. I will tell you the pros and cons.
The pros (imho):
-- there are lots of hidden object scenes (HOS) which are lists and some of the objects are very cleverly placed.
-- collectible cards
-- magic wand and top hat hidden object
The cons:
-- old graphics
-- repetitious music
-- no voice overs
-- dialog disappears too quickly to finish reading (for me at least)
-- no map
-- hint doesn't work outside the HOS
-- no game walk through
I highly encourage you to play the demo before buying at any cost. There are many more poor reviews of this game than good. BF has brought use many more good games than bad, but this is certainly a bad one.
I don't recommend this game.

Based on completion of the SE in easy mode (there's also normal and hard mode which can be changed during game play.) I liked this game although it was very short.
You're a detective who has been invited by Count Daniel Redway to the island of Whitewall to investigate the disappearance of young ladies who have been kidnapped by an unknown. One of the girls escaped and you are planning to interview her.
This game has it all, nice voice overs, a jump map, and a hint button that works well outside the HOS.
The HOS are easy however you will have to look carefully. The puzzles are all pretty easy and there is a skip button which recharges quickly.
The graphics and music are nice.
I enjoyed the ease of this game. Objects are found and used quickly and I never got lost as where to go or what to do. This may not be enough of a challenge for hard-core gamers but I liked it very much.
Play the demo and read some reviews to make your decision.
I recommend this game!

Wow what a different kind of game! There is lots to do in this game. I played the full demo in the easier of the 2 game modes.
It's the story of John Dillinger and his gang who rob banks. You choose the bank to rob and pick a gang member who gives you something extra in your game play like an extra 20 seconds to crack the safe.
Then you arrive outside the bank to "case the joint" where you are presented with:
-- a list of objects to find,
-- plus typewriter keys spelling out Dillinger (some of these will be outside the bank while the rest will be inside. If you miss any on the outside you will not have an opportunity to go outside to find it after you enter the bank.) The spelling of Dillinger grants $5,000.
-- bank notes or coins (but I didn't spot any coins -- just paper money.)
-- wanted posters
-- bank vault images which grant extra time in "cracking the safe"
You are given 3 hints to complete this timed HOS.
You then enter the bank. Now this part just made no sense at all to me. You are tasked to prevent customers from leaving the bank by blocking the exits. I played 3 "bank heists" and in all three, I was presented with 1 or 2 stationary robbers guarding the exits while I moved 1 robber into a spot by an exit. Then you just wait for a couple of minutes while customers move towards the exits but are blocked by robbers. That's it -- you just wait until the clock runs out. I got up and fixed me another cup of coffee and just waited. This could have been left completely out. There was no reason for it IMHO.
Next you are presented with another HOS and just like in the previous scene there are the remaining typewriter keys spelling out Dillinger, bank notes, vault images, and remaining wanted posters. In addition there are 5 colored keys which you must find to continue to open the vault. Again you have 3 hints in this timed HOS.
Next you are presented with the vault where you randomly place the colored keys until the safe is open. That's it. You're loot is tallied up and you're on to the next bank.
While this will appeal to some, it doesn't appeal to me because of the timed HOS and only having limited hints. Although I only used a couple and had no problem completing the scenes within the time allowed, I know that the scenes will only get harder and it will make me nervous so it's a no buy for me but I will still recommend the game as it does have some fun aspects.
Play the demo for yourself and read some reviews. I hope you read mine and find it helpful in making your decision. Good gaming!
I recommend this game!

I thought I had seen the last of the "worst games ever", but this is a minus 5. One star is too much for this stinker.
If you play the demo, please use the tutorial offered or you will be absolutely lost. Next check out the forum because there is a 3rd-party walk through available which might offer a little help.
This game has nothing - no map, no hint button, no logic, no fun - nothing, nada, zilch! What is does have is terrible music and a cursor that is huge - so huge it gets in the way!
You must play the demo before purchasing this dud and read some of the reviews. For me it's a no buy.
I don't recommend this game.

Based on partial play of the demo in casual mode. This might be the worst game I've ever played. It doesn't have any good points.
The graphics are dreary and there are no voice overs. I couldn't even hear the music. The map is a layout of a boat - that's it. No hint at where there might be something to do and certainly no jumping to the location.
There isn't any thing that guides you in your quest. I wasn't sure what or where I was or supposed to do for whatever reason.
You just have to play the demo for yourself to make your decision. Mine is I hated this game and won't be buying it!
I don't recommend this game.

Based on completion of the CE in Casual mode. I bought this game first thing this morning and finished it this afternoon. I really enjoyed playing this game.
You're a newspaper reporter sent to San Cristobal to look into the disappearance of several children who have disappeared over the past 3 years and always the night before a huge festival which is held to soften the heart of the Weeping Women -- a bitter spirit. Just as you arrive at a hotel, you see the owners daughter get snatched by the spirit -- or is it?
This game has it all. Four modes of game play, the 4th being custom with no time charge for the hint or skip button; collectibles; and morphing objects. I didn't find all the collectibles or morphing objects, but the ones I did find were very easy. There are good voice overs and the music isn't bad.
The HOS are all lists and are very easy. I didn't use the hint once.
The puzzles are nothing new and very easy. I didn't skip any.
The hint button works outside the HOS by pointing into the direction you need to go all the way to the object!
There is a map which shows where there is something to do and transports you to the scene.
There is a bonus chapter that has nothing to do with the main story.
I really enjoyed this game and think any one from a beginner to an expert would also like it. It may not be suitable for young people. Play the demo and read some reviews to make up your on mind.
I recommend this game!

This is based on the demo.
The town had just discovered some caves and have opened them to the public. While visiting the caves a mechanical giant snatches a little girl and runs off with her. The path taken by the giant caves in and the path through the caves is blocked. You're a detective who has been brought in to find her. You find an alternate path which takes you to a town that hasn't been visited in a very long time and it doesn't seem to be inhabited, except for puppets.
The hint button works only in the HOS which are junk piles of very small objects. In one, the clue was hook, which I couldn't find. I used the hint and it pointed to a red pepper, which I picked up.
The puzzles are simple and there is a skip button.
There is a walk through for this game, which I used a lot. However it isn't the ideal way to play a game. Without the hint button working outside the HOS and there being no map, I had no other way of getting the help I needed. This game doesn't flow and there is a lot of back and forth.
There are voice overs early on, but without running into people to talk to, it gets pretty quiet. I turned down the music because I didn't like it.
The scenery is very dull, dark and dreary. I didn't care for it.
As I always suggest, play the demo and make the decision for yourself. For me. it's a no buy.
I don't recommend this game.

I look forward every day to playing the "Tomorrow's Game Today". So I began the demo -- OMG this is such a slow moving game, I couldn't even finish it.
The main character, Alice, is a 12-year old girl who looks more like she's in her 20s, has magical powers letting her move in and out of mirrors into other worlds. Why her parents didn't smash every mirror within a hundred miles is beyond me. Anyway she ended up in a coma and then vanished into a mirror. Her parents also have some special talents, of which I can't even remember although I played the game this morning. As if that weren't enough, there's also been an earthquake which has left lots of things in shambles. The mother ends up "transporting" to a tropical island where she meets up with a witch doctor (or the like) named Maria, a character we've seen in past games in this series, and that's where I ended my demo.
Please play the demo to get a good taste of how this game will interest you and read some reviews. For me this game is just too boring and I won't recommend it.
I don't recommend this game.

Based on playing the demo in casual mode I found this game slow moving and very boring. While the story line sounded promising, it just didn't move enough to hold my interest.
You're a journalist who flys to Paris to interview a chef, but when you arrive you learn he's dead and your paper wants you to investigate it. The police have ruled it an accident (the chef was found frozen in a freezer at the restaurant where he worked) but you suspect it was murder.
There is a lot of dialogue which you have to read because there are no voice overs. This really slowed down the game. The music is very tedious, while it started out sounding okay, it just loops again and again and the tempo never changes.
The HOS (hidden object scenes) are junk piles and the items are artfully hidden. I really had to look hard for most of the items. I even used the hint a couple of times.
The hint works in and out of the HOS. I did use it a couple of times. It charges fairly quickly.
There is a map you use to move from location to location.
I was surprised there were locations you go to and there's nothing to do, e.g., the hotel room. You check in with your passport, got to your room, go to sleep and checkout all the while you don't pick up inventory and only use your inventoried passport when you check in. Very bizarre.
This game just didn't offer anything to keep me playing or buying. Please play the demo and read some reviews to make an informed decision.
I don't recommend this game.

Based on partial demo. I'm not one to pass up a daily deal for $2.99 but buying this at any price would be foolish. I wouldn't even play this game if it were free.
The hint button recharges quickly and is the only thing that seems to work with this game.
There are no real directions given and few inventory items to pick up and use. I didn't even run into a HOS or puzzle in my brief play of this game.
The scenery is old school and the music is horrible -- a tune that repeats over and over. Nothing modern about this game. There is no map or game walk through to help, you simply have to guess what to do next even with the help.
At one point the help told me to look at the hotel for something I needed but I couldn't find a hotel!
This one should never have reached BF. You would think with so many 1-star review they would send this back to the developer and insist on a revamp. Needless to say I won't be recommending this or buying it.
I don't recommend this game.
