I love this type of time management game, so I played for two hours in hopes the game play would improve. It never did. While the characters are cute, there are just too many other things stacked against Princess of Tavern:
* The princess who serves the food moves so slowly that it's almost impossible to get three stars on a level. I saw no upgrade to speed her up.
* The cook moves just as slowly. Many times I was just standing around waiting for the food to cook.
* Dragging customers to their chairs is tricky. Sometimes it took two or three tries before they would sit down at the table.
* Clicking two or three times to complete one action, like picking up a sponge or dumping dishes, got frustrating after a while and it wasted a lot of time.
* Levels get difficult rather quickly and the customers lose patience even quicker. I was able to upgrade the patience level of the customers before I quit playing, but I didn't notice much of a change.
* You have to remember whose order you turned in first so that you serve them the correct dish of food. This can be maddening when there are lots of customers. Remembering the sequence of taking the orders was the most difficult aspect of the game.
* You're required to buy ingredients for the dishes being prepared but I ran out of coins. The instructions claim I can play a mini game to get more coins, but there were no mini games available that I could see.
There are three restaurant locations so maybe upgrades become more readily available the longer you hang in there. It's a cute game, but it's simply too frustrating to play

The story line isn't bad but it wasn't enough to keep me playing after 40 minutes had passed.
Honestly, there's no way this could be a five star game because of the following:
* All the scenes are distorted. Tried several ways of changing my PC settings with no luck. Don't know how others looking at these distorted images found it any fun.
* Hand drawn scenes are okay (sometimes) but hand drawn hidden objects are simply not appealing, especially when you can't tell what the objects are supposed to be.
* Translation to English, including spelling and grammar, were really bad. Like I mentioned, the story line was there, but the developer just couldn't make it work.
* The inventory section didn't lock in place, which to me is extremely distracting and takes away from the fun of ANY game.
How anyone could play a distorted game with poor translation and sloppy hand drawn hidden objects and still give the game five stars is totally baffling.
I normally enjoy these types of games, I find them relaxing and can zone out and get away from the stress in my life.
Unfortunately, this is a dreary, bordering on odd, little game. First of all, I would say only ten percent of the photos have anything to do with Alice in Wonderland. Most of the solutions were either food (cupcakes, pies) or locations which seemed to be of European influence. One picture was of a lady playing the harp and several were of architecture and rooms of houses. Still have no idea why the developers say it's based on Alice. Obviously, they've never read the book or seen any of the movies.
The mechanics of the game are the usual for this type. You can play in time or untimed mode which is great. And the music is soothing and relaxing.
So bottom line, it's not about Alice, a lot of the jigsaw pieces are dark and you can't see them against the dark background. And you will find yourself mumbling "what has this got to do with Alice?" while you're trying to figure out what the heck the photo is supposed to be while you're attempting to solve it. If none of this will bother you, then go for it.
Okay, so there's no story and no fancy graphics. But . . .
~ There are three colors to fill your mosaic with
~ The music is pleasant, adding just a bit of white noise
~ I liked that there were four modes of game play AND you could play timed or un-timed.
~ The game is forgiving; in other words, I played on casual and was able to use one hint, make one mistake and yet I was still able to get three stars for the level.
~ Finally, it automatically fills in the unused tiles once you have solved each row or column. Even some of the prettier and more advanced game do NOT do that for you.
So, yes, it's a bare bones game but it's fun and relaxing.

GOOD STUFF:
When I first opened the game, the music blew me away. It's original and so well done, almost bordering on Celtic.
There's a well-written story line which is unusual for a Match 3 game. Which means there's quite a bit of reading as dialogue bounces back and forth between the two dimensional characters. But if you're not into the story, you can quickly skip the dialogue.
I liked that I could play in timed or relaxed mode depending on my mood. Powerups are easy to attain and easy to use.
And lastly, you use the gold you've acquired to buy or build improvements to the kingdom. If I stopped here, you'd have to admit the game sounds pretty awesome.
POORLY DESIGNED STUFF THAT OVERRIDES THE GOOD:
The playing board and the tiles you have to match are simply too small. There's a lot of wasted space on the screen that could have gone into a larger playing field. Making matters worse is that some of the tiles are very close in color causing major eyestrain. These are the main reasons I'm not buying the game. To me, King of the World seems to have been made for use on a tablet or phone rather than on a desktop.
Another issue is that all the buildings and statues you start buying for the kingdom are also very small. Instead of showing you only the area you're improving, they show the whole map of the kingdom which makes every item you've purchased look unimportant. For example, I purchased a gold statue and it took me a few moments to see where it was placed. I feel this should be a fun part of the game but it's not impressive at all.
BOTTOM LINE:
If you can put up with the small playing area and tiles that are too similar in color, then you'll have no issue.
Honestly, I liked nothing about this game, which is sad. The first thing that bothered me were the poorly drawn and gaudy graphics. They were distracting and hard on the eyes as I was trying to form words.
Game play is timed and I had to quickly form words before my enemy did. This forced me to hurriedly pick 3 and 4 letter words instead of having time to think of better, longer words.
Instructions were terrible and confusing and there is constant movement around the playing board. I never did figure out what my goal was or what was happening. Others will give this five stars I'm sure, but I found Spellcaster totally frustrating to play.

If you love all the Delicious TM games with Emily and her family, then you'll love this game as well.
Mary loves cooking -- it's her passion. But her parents own their own law firm and want their daughter to become an attorney as well. What will she do? The story is fun and game play is fast paced.
Mary le Chef plays the same as the Emily games with pretty much the same achievements, upgrades and tasks. And of course, Carl the Mouse pops up in every level. There are three modes of game from easy to expert.
If you have never played any of the time management games from this developer, just be aware there's quite a bit of dialogue because there is a real story to the game, and that's half the fun.
I recommend this game!

fromFree play? The first screen you see wants to sell you coins at a discount rate.
First thing upon opening the game, I was given a chance to purchase coins at a discount rate. (First red flag). And then, I was forced to watch all of the tutorial, complete with a well-endowed airline attendant giving me constant popup directions. (Second red flag). So why didn't I just exit out of the game? Simple -- I couldn't. I had to invoke my PCs task manager to get out of the game. (Final red flag).
Graphics are terrible and the music is no better. As you're trying to find objects, the large timer shows you how quickly you're running out of time. Banners keep popping up while you're trying to play. I can't believe so many people like this game.
I'm glad I ignored all the negativity about this game. After all, this is a GAME, so I don't understand all the nitpicking about tasks being illogical. I think that's what made this game fun. My review is based on the completed game, not just a five or ten minute demo play.
I liked the music for the most part and the voice acting was also top notch. The story line was one we've seen before I'm sure, but I thoroughly enjoyed the way this game was written and acted out. I never got bored even once.
Unlike others who found the puzzles difficult and the hidden object scenes hard, I thought both were fairly easy. My thing was, I skipped thru half the puzzles only because I wanted to continue on with the story.
There was a locking inventory section, the hint button re-charged quickly and I liked that when you arrived at a new location, you got a new map just for that location. To me, that was a great feature -- you didn't have to worry about traveling back and forth all over creation.
Yes, using yarn to string a bow was silly, but games should be entertaining and I found Fame, Theft and Murder to be just that!
I recommend this game!

Nostradamus: The Four Horseman of the Apocalypse
Play as Nostradamus and solve puzzles in order to thwart the plans of the four horseman of the apocalypse!
Yes, it's another dreadful, clunky game from this developer. I wasn't going to bother with a review but I had to comment on the first two reviews about this game.
First, you CAN lower the music, as usual, by clicking on the Options section. Rating the game low for that reason was wrong. Secondly, yes everything you clicked on was labeled and usually with some dialogue about it. But that's because the reviewer was playing in easy mode.
So, with those corrections made, I'm sad to say this is still a one star game and that is being generous. The graphics are simply too dark. While the story line may be "dark", a player still has to be able to see to play the game.
There are no voice overs, just lots of dialogue written in a font that makes the eyes weary. Mini games were easy once you figured out what to do. Objects in the HO scenes were poorly drawn most of the time so that was no fun. And finally, there was no locking inventory section which always annoys me to no end.
All in all, a clunky, dismal little game that isn't worth downloading.
