One would think a new solitaire game from the makers of the far Kingdoms Awakening adventure series would be fantastic, amazing and over-the-top. However, one would be wrong.
I was actually shocked to see this is simply a bare bones solitaire game with absolutely no bells or whistles. What's more unbelievable is that we're expected to pay for the game.
The description mentions 'unique' challenges and somewhat of a story line, but I found neither. Please try this one before you actually buy it. It gets two thumbs down from me.

I wasn't even going to trial this game because of all the negativity expressed in the reviews. But I went against the majority and am so happy that I did.
It took solving only 3 or 4 grids until my eyes adjusted to the black on black crossed off squares; and then I had no issues as far as that aspect was concerned. It's just a different way of presenting the grids and really not such a big deal.
The colors are bright and fun and the game IS logical. As with most mosaic grid games, except for Gizmos, there really is no story so that's not a surprise.
My only complaint is that you're penalized for using hints/power-ups which keeps you from achieving a perfect 3-star score for those levels. So I simply don't use them. And while I'm also not crazy about the cartoon-ish icons and graphics and that the mom in the family is not appropriately dressed, those two things aren't enough to distract me from enjoying the game.
First let me say this isn't a bad game. But it's certainly not worthy of being called a collector's edition. There's nothing special about it, especially the subject matter.
Everything about this game is middle-of-the-road with nothing new or innovative in the way of puzzles or hidden object scenes. And quite frankly, I'm tired of these fantasy driven games that have become too ridiculous to believe or care about.
I would recommend saving your money and waiting for the standard edition of Canvases of Time. Like I said, it's not a bad game. But if you're like me who has played tons of these hidden object adventures, you'll be bored with this one.
I am so ready for some real life adult adventure games, but apparently most developers don't have the writers or the talent to make that happen.
City of Crime starts off with a bang -- literally. And the game continues to move right along, keeping one interested. As others have stated, this game was originally designed with animals as the lead characters. I think they were smart to change the characters to people, but they should have changed Detective Gingertail's name to something more human as well.
The first thing I had to do was mess with my screen resolution because some of hidden object items weren't even appearing on the screen. I figured this out myself because BFG's tech people never answered my queries. Puzzles and hidden object scenes were easy and once you're finished in a location you don't go back.
It's a fairly short game so you really don't have time to get bored. My biggest complaint was the ending which was abrupt and not very satisfying.
The game of Solitaire is normally, well, solitary. So I like to find one that has some bling to it, something to make the game more interesting and challenging. Unfortunately, Ted & PET is not one of those games.
Graphics are cartoonish and poorly drawn, so the playing area is not pretty or appealing to look at. Power-ups are expensive to buy because you don't get rewarded with much even when you keep scoring perfectly on each hand.
There are no fun things to build and no mini games or puzzles to break up the monotony of playing hand after hand after hand.
Try Ted & PET and see what you think. And then take a few moments to check out some of the fun solitaire games that are available here.
Wow, I am so sorry to see the old adventure game Mortimer being turned into a character from a popular time management game. Gone are the clever puzzles, the adventure story and using some of your own logic. Mortimer is no longer a smart, eccentric scientist. He's been turned into a gawky and bungling sort of guy.
* Definitely not collector's edition material and not worth the cost; especially since the game is on the short side
* Dialogue rambles on and on and is not very well written.
* Since this is a hybrid game, you have to find Carl the mouse in every scene. Honestly, couldn't they come up with something different?
* The hidden object scenes involve fragments of items which are usually poorly drawn and can be hard to recognize and locate at times. Colors are bright and sort of bleed into each other.
* Graphics are cartoon-like and the puzzles are easy. There are sparkles everywhere telling you what your tasks are.
This would probably be a great game for kids, if they're kids who like to read a lot of dialogue. I played the game on another site, so I'm extremely happy I didn't have to pay for it.

Wow, over one hundred levels of boring one color grids, with no story-line, nothing to upgrade, nothing to build and nothing to strive for or accomplish. The music is monotonous and the graphics are truly sub-par. Yep, over one hundred levels, but I won't be the one playing them.

There are other games, very very similar to this one, that are free to play on your phone or tablet. I can't believe BFG wants us to pay money for this.
The first thing you're asked to do is configure the resolution so that the game will play on your desktop or laptop. There's no place to enter your name. No other options except to turn the sound off or on. The graphics are juvenile and the game is clunky and slow to play. Why? Again, because it was designed to be played with a touch screen on a phone or tablet.
These silly games are a waste of time and effort. You'll regret buying before trying it.
I have actually contacted Noir Chronicles' creator to ask their help so I can finish the game. But I'll get back to that in a moment.
First, the story starts out with a bang, literally, and moves along rather well. The voice overs are done fairly well, except you can tell it's pretty much the same guy doing all the voices. And some of the American slang doesn't fit the conversation, but that's tolerable. There are items to collect and achievements to aim for. However, the hidden object scenes and puzzles were very easy and not challenging at all.
My issue is the fact that you cannot play the game in widescreen or in windowed mode. So some of the items I had to find in the hidden objects scenes were not visible -- they were off the screen. And sometimes I could see a list of eight silhouette items to find, but what I couldn't see was that there were actually ten of them. So I would be sitting there wondering why the game wasn't moving on, until I realized I had to hit the 'hint' button so that two more objects, that I couldn't see, could clear the scene.
I sat for many hours getting almost to the end of the game, only to find I was unable to see or click on the last object in the HO scene. So, I am stuck, playing almost an entire game and not being able to see the ending. Nice. I have contacted the developer and asked what the deal is. And I can't believe no one else had this problem; seriously, I can't be the only one.
I totally disagree with the reviewer who stated the first game in this series was better. Darkness Came is, by far, so much more advanced than the first game.
At least in this game, the translation to English was better and it was so much easier to understand what was going on. There was nothing sick or disturbing in this game like there was in the first one. What's really great is that they added voice-overs which were well acted. Kudos to the developer for actually listening to all our previous feedback!
The graphics and puzzles were more advanced. And the story line actually made sense this time around, so I was interested enough to purchase the game and play it to the end. Please don't base Darkness Came's play ability on the low ratings you see. I recommend giving it a shot for the hour trial.
