Review based on the completed game in TIMED mode, using Windows 10 without any issue.
This game is very unique as it consists of 40 levels made up of different types of games: some are hidden object (list, riddles or silhouettes), some are match-3, some are "spot the differences" between 2 or 3 pictures, some are word finds, some are jigsaw, etc. There's a good hint system for the HOG levels as you collect gems to purchase them; I have to admit I only used 1 in the entire game!
I played in timed mode and had LOTS of time left on each level: I think the lowest I got still had 5 minutes left.
The story is not particularly exciting: you're trying to find a ring, and each level brings you closer to the "solution".
The game is easy, relaxing, with diversity of gameplay that might not fit everyone's tastes. It took me a bit over 3 hours from start to finish without rushing thru. It's old school and entertaining. I can't wait to play the sequel!
I recommend this game!

Review based on the trial.
Singularis is a strange game: you're basically a creature swimming thru maps, using your mouse and/or keyboard, in order to reach the portal to the next level. That's where the "simple" stops.
Your creature will evolve and consume "creatures" and try to avoid or be harmed by other "creatures". You have a certain number of life points, and fortunately there are little healing blobs that restore your health while "nasties" reduce it.
It took me 13 minutes JUST to complete the TUTORIAL. Maybe I'm slow, but I really wasn't zipping thru the first few levels.
As I moved on to the level after the tutorial, things got more difficult... it's NOT a timed game, and it seems you have to be careful as you swim around in the massive map (which you can gauge by pressing the 'K' key); you have save "slots" that you can use by finding a "save" object within the level.
I have to say that, contrarily to my instincts, going at break neck speed does NOT work: you have to use little bursts of movement, wait, a few more bursts, wait, etc. especially since the screen only represents a tiny portion of the level and contains countless dead ends.
Perhaps this game requires more patience than a typical arcade game; it also requires some strategy to "lure" your enemies towards their destruction.
The graphics are average, but this game is more about patience in your movements so you're focusing on your "creature". Well thought out and has been added to my "wish list" for an upcoming purchase.
I recommend this game!

I'm not sure how hard this game gets... I started to scratch my head at level 7 (that's only at 10% of the available levels!)
This brain teaser is simple to understand, harder to master: rotate a square (which has 4 triangles in it) clockwise/counter-clockwise (left or right click) so that there are 4 (or more) triangles OF THE SAME COLOUR next to each other in order to remove them. They don't need to be in the same square! The objective is to remove all the "frames" and rings everywhere on the board.
The game has 2 modes: "strategy" (no timer) and "arcade" (timed); some levels restrict your number of moves.
The graphics are bright and crisp, and you only need to think about left clicking or right clicking. Quite simple mechanically, but gameplay gets harder as some triangle spaces become empty or the board has gaps in it.
I also like the fact that there is a "hint" button that will point you to which square to rotate... unfortunately, NOT in which direction! There doesn't seem to be any wait/recharge time between hints.
On the left side of the board, there is a picture frame with blinds covering it; the blinds open to reveal more and more of the picture as you progress towards completion of the level.
Progress is saved after each level in each mode.
Try it... it's addictive, simple but challenging.
I recommend this game!

Roogoo is a game that you can play with the keyboard and/or your mouse. I used a combination of both for specific purposes... more later.
The object of the game is to let blocks go through discs that have shaped openings: a star-shaped block must go through a star-shaped hole; there are multiple layers of discs, and you control the rotation of each (left/right arrow, or left/right-click) so the blocks can reach the very bottom.
You can speed up the free-fall of a block towards the disc by pressing the down arrow (or your scroll wheel upwards); at some point, the blocks will be multi-layered, so you might need to swap the colours in the block either by scroll wheeling downwards, or by pressing the up arrow key. You'll also have to defeat enemies by having a block fall on them.
I didn't like the 3D graphics very much: they could have been a lot sharper. I also found the controls to be somewhat difficult (how many fingers do you use on your mouse?), compounded by the stress that each level is timed.
Try it for yourself, at least until level 3 or 4 to get a sense of gameplay (note that each level has multiple "waves", so that'll take 20-30 minutes). I wasn't captivated enough in the "rescue their planet" story and cartoons either.
PS: I use Windows 10 and had no issue during the trial.
I don't recommend this game.

Review based on the trial.
In this match-3 game, you pick 1 of the shapes on a conveyor belt in order to replace a tile already on the board to make a match... you don't swap, group or chain: you click the shape on the belt, then click on the tile where you want it to go.
There are 2 modes of play:
1) Arcade: you have to accomplish the objective (e.g. break all the "plates" under the tiles)
2) Puzzle: you need to accomplish the objective (e.g. captured a number of tiles of each shape)
Each mode comes in 2 difficulty levels: "easy" and "normal". Every few rounds, you play a treasure hunt level where you have to clear a path by making matches in front of the character in order to reach a treasure chest.
I played mainly in "puzzle" mode as it has an interesting element I didn't see in any other match-3 game: every time you place a shape on a tile that makes a match, the tile underneath deteriorates … if you make too many on the same tile, the entire tile disappears and you're left with a hole where you can no longer place a shape.
You have a choice of 2 portfolios of shapes.
One feature I didn't like, and perhaps that's only true for the trial, is that your progress is lost (forever) if you switch game modes: I started in puzzle mode, switched to arcade mode to try that mode, and returned to puzzle mode to find I had to start back at level 1.
Give it a try for at least a few levels to get a sense. I also liked that the tiles were large and well defined, and the idea that some tiles restrict which shape you can place there!
I recommend this game!

Time was just zipping by as I was playing this. Truly addictive!
The idea is simple: you're a little fish in the sea and need to collect pearls of various colours to complete the pearl necklace of that level. The challenge comes in a variety of forms:
1) to make progress, you need to eat/catch those pearls, which are rising from the bottom, in a specific order (the colours are vivid and you can clearly see which colour you need next)
2) there are boosters that restore health as you can encounter enemies that drain your health
3) the nasties swim across the screen
So you need to move your mouse, for which you can set sensitivity in the options menu, to grab pearls and bonuses in order to complete the pearl necklace of that level. Every 6th level, you can save your progress in 1 of 4 save slots so you can reload from that point next time.
Easy at first, but gets cluttered as levels increase. Did I mention you "lose" 1 pearl of progress in your necklace if you catch the wrong colour?
So simple, yet so much fun!
I recommend this game!

This is the 2nd edition of the game, this time with the collaboration of TV Guide magazine.
It combines crossword puzzles and trivia (often from television shows). There are a couple of game styles, and each has its qualities and flaws; their appearance is fairly similar.
Each round consists of 10 questions, and the idea is to fill out the blank spaces with each letter that belongs there based on a provided clue.
What I found to be missing is the possibility to learn: if you get the answer wrong, you are not told what the correct answer is; you earn "money" for answers you get right in the hopes of reaching one of the high scores.
I was entertained for a while, but it misses some "wow" factor.
Try it to form your own opinion; it feels like an old game because it is...
I don't recommend this game.

For those familiar with other brain teasers, this game combines elements of "Boggle" (make words using adjacent letters in a grid), "Trivial Pursuit" (do you know the answer to the trivia question?) and "Wheel of Fortune" (you start with a hangman-like number of spaces for the desired answer) AND Pat Sajak's voice!
You use your mouse to link the necessary letters to form the answer and then press the "Enter" button.
The mechanics worked fine, but there were too many questions I didn't know the answer to so I couldn't make any kind of progress in the game... which is like a tournament.
You begin the game by building your avatar (gender, hair colour, skin colour, clothes, etc.), which I really couldn't care for. As you make points, you "upgrade" that avatar.
Not bad, just not for me. Despite all that, I felt it was well done and therefore recommend it.
I recommend this game!

You start by playing SpongeBob traveling on a hoverboard within a level. Your journey will increase in difficulty as you successfully complete each level.
As you hover in each level, you collect coins which will eventually give you access to higher/harder levels. As you navigate each level, there are power-ups and obstacles to make your journey more difficult.
Your control your character's direction and speed based on how you move your mouse; you also have a "fire" button to help you destroy obstacles and enemies.
I liked the 3-D graphics, but what bothered me was the fact that your angle/perspective prevented you from seeing what could be against some walls: there are coins/obstacles there that you cannot see, and there's no method to change your "camera" angle.
Another thing I rather disliked is the fact that you don't know if you've maximized/captured all coins/power-ups in a given level: if you have enough energy left and reach the target, you pass to the next level. So you don't know if you've scored the maximum on each level.
It's not a bad arcade game, it just has room for simple improvements.
I don't recommend this game.

What a FANTASTIC game!!!
I'll keep things relatively straightforward and without story spoilers:
STORY:
Sam's girlfriend, Anna, has been kidnapped by a psychologically disturbed individual, Oscar, and taken to the Goldvale domain. The bonus chapter is a sequel.
The following should help you determine whether to buy or not:
a) graphics are very cinematic
b) the domain you explore is abandoned and in bad shape, so the atmosphere is kinda creepy
c) there are a LOT of rooms/scenes, and you need to revisit some more often than others; some are indoors, some are outdoors but you remain on the property (except in the bonus chapter)
d) the HO scenes are lists with a few interactions but the objects are visible and distinct; the objects you gather make sense and are related to your progress
e) there is a map, but just like in real life, you cannot teleport to where you want to go: you need to walk from point A to point B
f) you only hear 2 characters: Anna (the abductee) and Oscar (the abductor); I thought his voice acting was great, with just the right touch of emotion: there are no cut scenes with animation and the recordings tell the story... they can be skipped (but you can replay from the journal)
g) no morphing objects, collectibles, helpers, gadgets, elves, dragons, demons or witches
The game is about atmosphere/tension; the scenes are full of fabulously detailed graphics, despite being sometimes dull and dreary: if you like to rush thru scenes to just get it done, you'll be disappointed/bored. If on the other hand you like to take it in and breathe, this psycho will keep you exploring for hours.
The puzzles were fairly simple but were fun and required some thought ... some use ideas I haven't even seen in other games since. To me, a solid 5 out of 5.
I recommend this game!
