These "brain teaser" games are too few and far between, so this is refreshing, especially when it's well executed like this one is. Some games are simple in concept but stimulate your grey cells (like the 'Sokoban' game from decades ago.)
The tutorial is excellent and simple to understand/execute: you have a source of light (click), and the light beam must reach a destination going thru as many "stars" as possible (up to 3). To achieve this, there are objects that impact the path of the light beam like mirrors/reflectors, splitters and combiners. As you progress thru the levels, you learn to rotate and/or move those objects to get the beam of light from its source to its target.
You also have a hint system which consists of a firefly, that you can recharge by temporarily having the beam of light shine on it.
Graphics are great, mechanics are simple, and mouse clicking/rotating does NOT require speed. The levels start very easy but become more complicated gradually as new "features" are introduced (and they are well explained.)
The only thing I would wish for is perhaps a "cheat snapshot" of the final result for each level (think "strategy guide" here...)
Try it out: you'll know quickly if the concept appeals to you; don't assume it's a child's game because of the graphics; you'll spend more time on a level starting around level 20 of the first world (there are 25 levels in each of the 6 worlds), so this will entertain for a while, especially if you explore each level to recharge your firefly!
Congrats and thanks to the devs for this game: it's definitely a buy for me!
I recommend this game!

This is the 3rd nonogram release from these devs in a little over 1 month (April 26 was the previous one). I like the multi-colored and multi-shaped ideas, but I had to use a hint on level 3 (teapot) as I reached a dead end: it was impossible NOT to guess which of 2 squares (out of 4) contained the pieces of the spout. It reminded me of how disappointing it was to reach a dead end in "Minesweeper". The mechanics work well, but you have to stay sharp to choose the proper color/shape combo. As in their prior game, there is sometimes a puzzle within a puzzle, which can be skipped.
Enjoyable overall... if you don't mind having to use a hint. Try it and judge for yourself! I think it still sharpens the brain.
I recommend this game!

I haven't tried the first 2 installments of this series, so this one was new to me. I only had a partial screen despite having downloaded the software update, but that got resolved by using my monitor's "auto-adjust" feature so I could then see the entire "picture".
I like how the level objectives are represented, and despite being one of those "collect resources", "clear the way" and "build things" approach, the idea of having the option to assign multiple "people" to 1 task is pretty clever... for example, you can choose to have 3-4-5 of your 10 workers build a single house while having 2 workers collect 1 pile of wood and the other 3 collect a different pile of wood.
I didn't go very far during the demo (level 7 in progress), but it became obvious that the key to getting 3 stars on each level is to come up with a strategy BEFORE launching the tasks: it's not just about in which order to perform the tasks, but also thinking about to deploy your workers.
It was fun but challenging fairly early in the demo, so this will buy a buy for me. The instructions are simple, the objectives well presented visually, and the storyline has some nice humor in it (despite the fact that there are a few grammatical errors here and there, like on intro to level 3 "Gerty and and her friend Sam...").
If you're into TM games, this one is original despite not having the best graphics ever... Try it but give it 3 or 4 levels (at least) before forming an opinion.
I recommend this game!

I played this game for 35 minutes, and just had to stop... the lack of any tutorial assumes you can figure it out: a bad assumption typically denoting that either the devs don't master the english language, or that gameplay is obvious.
I believe both are true here, but a bit frustrating at first, and the cartoonish graphics don't make up for it.
Simply put, you use your gold to plant fruits and vegetables(carrots, blueberries, apples, etc.) in your garden, and the more you plant, the more gold you get to buy more things.
Life would be smooth if it weren't for the pests (moles, birds, squirrels, etc.) that interfere with that plan... so you can buy things to keep them away (scarecrow, guard dog, etc.) As you progress/level-up, you can buy upgrades and expand your garden.
To me, there's just 1 big problem: you need to click like a maniac: your helpers that pick-up what you grow cannot keep up, so you keep clicking on things: the pests to turn them away, the ladybugs, fireflies and eggs the chickens lay for bonus coins, the ripe fruits fallen from bushes/trees, and of course, you have use the left/right arrow keyboard keys to scroll the screen left and right (can't use your mouse for that)
I got bored (and cramps) with all the clicking. Try it for yourself, but it's a no-sale for me.
I don't recommend this game.

I'm surprised that the key contributors have not posted a review of this game yet and that I'm the first one... with my first review (despite reading others' for years!)
Let me begin by saying I've played and enjoyed the demo, and will be buying this game, the first of a potentially new series. The story is interesting, and I like the voices in the narration of the storyline. I play these games to be entertained for a few hours, as an escape from everyday "reality". I find that many reviewers are severe in their judgement because they compare with other games... Me, I spend about the price of a burger combo from a typical fast food place on a game like this on Big Fish (they have many special sales) and these games last much longer than those meals. It's a small investment and you can re-play it if you so choose.
The graphics are well done and somehow different than many other HO games; I liked the sense of "tension" throughout the scenes I've played. The puzzles are fun and some HO scenes are creative.
Is this game particularly original with a new, never-seen-before story? Nope... but it seems entertaining enough so I can feel I'm getting a good ratio of bang for my buck.
This was developed by the folks that brought us innovative games like "9 Clues", "Enigmatis" and "Grim Legends".
Try it for yourself... forget logic and being overly critical, and see if you feel, like me, that you're getting your money's worth! I've got hundreds of games in this genre, and I don't focus on similarities/differences. Like at an amusement park, I just go along for the ride!
I recommend this game!

I played this on Windows 10 without any issue.
The idea behind this game is interesting and quite unique: how many times can you cross lines between crystals of the same color?
Graphics are beautiful, game mechanics work great (left-click / right-click) but the levels are separated by cartoon panels that need to be read and clicked to move forward... no "skip" feature. This helps with the storytelling behind the adventure, but breaks the rhythm of the game.
There is a setting for the difficulty level which helps understanding the gameplay, and any level can be replayed to improve your score against "par". Very easy in the beginning but increases in difficulty as the story advances.
Try it for yourself: this is a nice game for people who like to strategize.
I recommend this game!

I played this on Windows 10 without any issue; possibly because navigation rules are simple and only require the use of the 4 "arrow" keys, not the mouse.
Concept is simple: move your character using the pre-determined arrow positions on the board, pick up ALL the keys so you can open the chest.
But it is strangely challenging: the character keeps moving (can't stop him) so you must make use of your arrow keys to prevent him from "dying" due to multiple obstacles or before the timer runs out. The training levels will give you a very good idea of the genre... including a level where the board is upside down!
For those who like a mixture of arcade-type graphics and brain-teaser games requiring logic, this is for you. It's not unique in this genre, but it is interesting... just not my cup of tea.
For some reason, I'm the first to review this game, so I suggest you try it out to form your own opinion: do NOT simply rely on the short preview video as it makes things look much easier than they are.
I recommend this game!
