I'm in the very last chapter of the game (8x8 grid) and will be sad once I'm done.
The challenge increases as the grid size increases, going from 3x3 at first all the way to 8x8.
I wasn't good at "BOGGLE", where to have to make as many words as possible with the letters provided. Here, thankfully, the letters are all "right side up" and you need to link the cells to form the required words, which will make those cells disappear. Those who play chain-type Match 3 will be familiar with the mechanics, which work here flawlessly.
Difficulty arises not just because the grid size increases, but also because you might find the right words but not use the desired letters, putting yourself in a corner.
I'm not going to use my review as a suggestion box or an ad to the player forums I below to; I'm simply here to provide feedback on the latest game I purchased and review it once almost completed (not just after 30 minutes of playtime.)
Highly recommended!
I recommend this game!

Review based on completed game (about 5 hours for the 5 episodes, plus almost 45 minutes for the secret mission, plus 75 minutes for the "bonus episode"... so at my pace, about 7 hours of gameplay!); slightly more than the 1st installment.
GOLDEN TRAILS 2 - THE LOST LEGACY is very similar in gameplay to the original game; it’s an old-school HO game; it has a story to move you through the various chapters and I found the voice-overs portions to be quite good (some parts of dialogue need to be read unless you skip).
I enjoyed story in the first game and in this one as well; the challenge of the hidden object scenes provides well drawn AND VERY well blended items into its scenes; some games have a lot more clutter but here, it's all about camouflage; you can get lots of hints (you'll probably need a few sooner or later) by shooting bandits. You need to find 4-leaf clovers (instead of sheriff's badges) to "unlock" the Secret Mission. This time around, you’ll need to sometimes play a mini-game (which can be “skipped”) to gain access to what you need.
Fortunately, at least for me, the game is NOT timed. Once you've completed all the episodes, you unlock the "unlimited mode", which consists of being able to re-play 39 locations, as much as you want, but this is timed (no limit) to see if you can break the fastest record.
A simple but challenging game for HO lovers. Looking forward to the 3rd/final adventure.
Played using Windows 10 without any problem whatsoever.
I recommend this game!

Review based on trial period only.
I was happy playing the 1st 5 games, even more so when editions 1,2,4 and 5 were released only as "standard editions"; VIKING BROTHERS 6 is now being released as a CE (like #3 was), and I struggle having to pay double if I don't get double the levels. The availability of a walkthrough helps a bit in tipping the scales.
The graphics are great, and I love the winter setting... making the tasks more "original" than the generic gather/clear/build games.
I would prefer better contrast between the red and black numbers when looking at the required resources when hovering over an assignment... but that's just me. Having the workers slowed down depending on the weather is also a nice twist in gameplay.
I didn't get very far in the trial, but if his release is like the earlier ones, things will get tricky/strategic before reaching level 10.
I will be buying this great TM game, but will wait for the SE (hoping there will be one!) so I can compare features before making my decision.
I recommend this game!

Review based on completed game (about 4½ hours for the 5 episodes, plus ½ hour for the secret mission, plus almost 1 hour for the "bonus challenges"... so at my pace, about 6 hours of gameplay!)
GOLDEN TRAILS - THE NEW WESTERN RUSH is pretty much a straightforward old-school HO game; it has a story to move you through the various chapters, and I found the voice-overs portions to be quite good (some parts of dialogue need to be read unless you skip).

Basic but challenging. Looking forward to the next adventure.

Review based on trial period only.
You start with small/easy drawings just to warm up; it gets more complicated with board #6 so you'll need to zoom in to read the numbers and drag the drawing around to cover all areas. You can only unlock 1 "page" of boards at a time, so I don't know what the future pages will hold; in past editions, they didn't get any simpler and you might need to exit a board in progress (no worries, it saves your work) and resume later. Time just flies by!
I have the previous editions and do a couple of boards per session; no more, just enough to wind down and relax.
Some might say the colors are flat, but I like that: it's easy on the eyes because I don't want bright/fluorescent colors as you really need to "stare" at the screen to do a good job.
This one goes into the "buy" pile!
I recommend this game!

Review based on completed game in "Casual mode": 5½ hours for the main game, plus another 1½ hour for the bonus chapter of the CE.
When HOUSE OF 1000 DOORS - FAMILY SECRETS was released back in 2011, it was one of the best in its genre: beautiful and detailed graphics, interesting and original puzzles, and HOS scenes where the objects are clear but cleverly hidden in plain sight and include an interactive component. The jump-map is accessed thru the journal. By today's standards, the cutscenes are disappointing and definitely look dated.
Still, a great game, well worthy of a purchase (especially if you can get it while on sale.)
Played it on my Windows 10 PC without any issue.
I recommend this game!

Review based on 125 levels of play in TIMED mode.
The game has a TIMED and RELAXED mode. The objective is to decorate 3 gardens and obtain a "gold" trophy on each (you will first earn "bronze" and "silver").
It also offers 2 game genres: swap-type Match-3, and "box clear" where you clear tiles by highlighting 4 similar tiles, 1 in each corner of an area; I thought I had seen every match-3 genre after playing "ANCIENT QUEST OF SAQQARAH" (which has 6 different genres), but this approach was new to me.
So I first played the more common swap-genre and reached the gold trophy in each garden after completing level 111 (your mileage may vary); though I played in TIMED mode, I was able to complete each level without "rushing" (perhaps the relaxing music helped!) in about 10 hours of play.
After reaching level 125 (I believe it can go further), I switched to the "box clear" genre, which was much more difficult to me and therefore changed my settings to UNTIMED mode.
You can switch freely between genres (the levels go up independently), but all the money you earn goes towards the same 3 gardens.
Overall, enjoyable and achievable (I'm still working on the "box clear" levels...)
I recommend this game!

Review based on trial period... I'm still playing the SEOUL release.
Looks like BFG has a backlog of games; I was writing only a couple of weeks ago that I was finishing "BERLIN" when they released SEOUL (which actually hit the marketplace in June 2019.) We now get PRAGUE (#9) and #10, SPOOKY HALLOWEEN, is coming soon.
I enjoy these games as it tickles the brain with the just the right amount of challenge for me. The mechanics are the same as always; remember that you can change the appearance of the filled tiles and the empty tiles by clicking on the buttons on the RIGHT side of the "Options" menu.
The graphics cannot be as spectacular as jigsaws, so it would be better, IMHO, if the devs could label the pictures once solved.
I do enjoy the choice of 3 difficulty levels as it dramatically changes the methodology.
I guess I'll see you in Prague!
I recommend this game!

Review based on trial period.
The gameplay is as can be expected; I trial every game released on BFG in case something attracts me. ALICE's JIGSAW TIME TRAVEL 2 is just like previous releases from this dev, except of course for the pictures. It would be fun if, once the mosaics are completed, to see their outlines disappear and have the ability to save as wallpaper... some pictures are quite attractive.
Those who like these games will like this one, and those who don't won't. I'm on the fence, as usual, with this one... perhaps worthy of a punch card coupon.
I recommend this game!
