I mentioned in one of my old reviews that I had guilty pleasures, some of which include the occasional cigarette , eating chocolaits and my collection of horror books and films. That being said, this game is right up my alley. My immediate reaction to the opening scene was " Characters are like cut out paper dolls, YUK!" However as I continued, I became enthralled with the sounds and the visual effects of the game. First there is the ominous musical score, the whispers and sound of thunder, moans and cries and I was hooked! I really do applaud the devlopers for using good actors to do Voice-overs. Very ery well done and you have the main character that speaks to you at every turn and tells you what to do. That takes alot of work and in my opinion, somewhat raises the bar in Game Mechanics. I can't really say the same for Graphics, although sharp, they look old-school and one dimensional as are the annimations. However I really loved the art work, dark, intense and drawn beautifully. All of these elements submerges you into a demonic world where you have to save a child from possesion. I am sure the subject matter will be a issue for many as Demonic Possesion isn't everyone's cup of tea. As I said, being of fan of Lovecraft, Poe and King, I enjoy the macabre. Game mechanics offer two game modes but no custom cursor which is surprising. Game play includes a journal, a SG on the left upper corner and a rather clever hint system that is apparently your Hand that offers you clues as to where to go or what to do. The HOG scenes are junk piled and the lighting is not great, making some obects impossible to find. Game play involves the usual puzzles and finding key objects and using them. There are mini-games which so far were easy and familiar. I really do believe that based on the subject manner as well as the lack of some game features and the level of challenge, this game should have been brought to us as a SE. However as I really did enjoy the demo trial and am curious to see just how the game progresses, I will recommend to those who are hard-core players like myself and who may enjoy submerging themselves into their dark side. Like I said, a game not for the faint hearted!

Before I begin, I must congratulate the Developers for a really stunning opening scene; best I have scene in a while, especially in a SE game! By now you have read the reviews and probably know that witht this game, you really are getting a bargain here. This game has all the game features that we usually see in a CE, and I am truely blown over. I expect that many will find this game to be dark and dreary not to mention a storyline which we have seen many times before; another abandoned Asylum and a mystery to solve. Nevertheless, I am a fan, and one of my guilty pleasures are these genre of games. Although the graphics are dark, they are sharp and the art work is very well done. There are voice overs when needed and I really liked the cut scenes. Your menu options offer everything such as custom cursor, screen width and brightness in addition to two play modes. The HOG scenes are dark, crowded, somewhat tricky and some interaction are involved. My only complaint is that they are too dark and some objects were almost impossible to detect. Also the mini-games were sparse and not very challenging. You have a journal and believe or not, a SG to help you out. Also another big thank-you to the developers for adding morphing objects and achievments which actually made me press the buy button without a second thought. I love these extra challenges that just add to the overall gaming experience. I think that some will either love this game or pass on it due to the topic and the dark and sombre atmosphere of the game. Yes, we have all been there and done that, but just like some of our favorite TV shows, subject matters rarely change. In the world of creative thinkng, there is almost no original idea and we do seem to be re-playing the same stories over and over. Regardless of that, I am a fan and I really enjoyed playing this game. I look forward to seeing the sneak preview of Frozen and thank BFG for this cool surprise on a Saturday.
rtYour very monotone life is interrupted when you learn that you are the sole heir to a very large and very haunted Manor. Everyone has died under mysterious circumstances and your only companion is the butler....Need I say more?
I actually bought the CE version and honestly, I should have waited for the SE. ( I really buy CEs if the game is complex and offers a high degree of challenge and game play offers features like rewards, morphing objects and collectables) This game however is an above standard SE game that offers a great ghost story involving a mystery to solve, along with very good V/O and alot of back-tracking, so be sure to bring an extra pair of running shoes. The Graphics were a bit dark and grainy, I have seen much better and the HOGs were slightly junk-piled with some interaction. Main Menu offers three play modes, custom cursor and wide screen options. Game mechanics includes a diary that has a task list as well as a photo album that will hold the pictures that you take with your camera. (Have to find the camera first) I actually enjoyed the overall gameplay and it was long, (7 chapters); so I it is definitely worth the SE price tag. Be warned, there is alot of back-tracking to do and I really enjoyed the puzzles and minigames; some of which presented a fair amount of challenge to the game. I do recommend this game, especially for those who love a good ghost story.
After saving the City from a fog, now it's up to you to save it from Wax! So here we go, again on another adventure to dave a Town and solve a mystery. I wish I could jump up and down and say "great game" but in all honesty, it missed the mark when it came to the game mechanics. I will start with the pros: I loved the graphics and kudos to the devlopers for using real actors to play and very good V/O. I expect that many will find game dark and sombre. The story line is interesting with a who-done-it twist to it and the HOG scenes have interactions but are dark and crowded, making some items very difficult to find. The sounds effects are spooky and goes on throughout the game. Again, some may find this annoying; I however enjoy the overall effect it has on the gaming experience. You have a journal, a SG that keeps your place and two game mode options. What is missing from this game is the level of challenge. I was somewhat dissapointed that the developers did not include features like morphing objects, or collectables or rewards. These are features that usually make a CE more interesting and worth the extra pennies. I found the the puzzles were relatively easy, alot of back-tracking, collecting inventory items and your basic run-of-the-mill mini-games. Vİsually, the game is up to standard and really very well put together. I really did love the graphics and found them beautifully well designed. Howeve the game did not excite me and I suspect that hardcore adventurers like myself will find the game a tad easy. Im really on the fence on this one and looking at the length of the game, I am consideriing waiting for the SE. I will recommend this game for beginners because I do think they will enjoy the puzzles and the story as well as the graphics. I did like the first of the Dark Dimension series but just wished the devlopers would have added a bit more "oomph" into this one.
The moment I opened the game, I was quick to make a judgement that this was going to be a total waste of time. The first HOG scene I encountered was a nightmare where items were so small and obscure, I was forced to use the hint button several times and I do pride myself in having 20/20 eyesight. The graphics did not appeal to me, there was an old school feel to it. However, once I continued on and came across the first mini-game, I was thrilled at the challenge it presented. I already got stuck on one of them and that really was the clincher for me. I also liked the way the developers used the journal by adding on a list of objectives that offered you hints on how to pursue if you get lost. There are sparkles here and there however I actually prefer not to have them. I decided to continue on and despite my initial opinion, I enjoyed myself and was less than thrilled when the hour was up. The game is old, the story is somewhat interesting but I found that the game offers a high degree of fun factor. I expect that many will hate the HOG scenes and I dont blame them, but nevertheless I have decided to spend a credit on this one. The game offers challenging game play which is always a plus for me. My advice? ignore the graphics, the lack of direction and over-all look of the game. If you are an Adventure/ HOG lover like me, you will be pleasantly surprised with this one.
.......So I am now out to save my good friend from the Flying Dutchman and I need to save some souls along the way. It looks like the scary Dude who is the Captain will not make it so easy. Aboard the ship, there are many puzzles to solve and mini-games to play. I also have to collect these pearls that recount some historical fact< about the ship. It looks like I will be wearing down my shoes as there is no map, but I do have a journal that keeps me company and sturdy sea legs for this rather weak adventure.
Overall I really wanted to like this game, infact I did beta tested it sometime ago and hoped that more game features would have been added. Alas to my dismay, it pretty much is your run of the mill Adventure/HOG with nothing really special that would make it qualify as a CE. Had it come out as an SE, I would not hesitate to buy it. The overall look of the game is good but the graphics are not as crisp or clean as we have seen in more superior games. The sound is terrible as are the Voice/overs. I found the music to be monotonous and it got annoying after a while. There are three game modes as well aqs wide screen options and custom cursor. The SG opens up to where you are but does not follow your progrees. The hint system is a cute little lobster that refills quickly. Game mechnics involve the usual puzzles and minigames were easy and nothing we haven't seen before. HOG scenes are interactive but in my opinion overcrowded and some items blend into the scenery. What is seriously lacking in this game is any level of challenge or fun. I also found the game play very slow. Needless to say, with the current graphics, story-line and game play, it seems to be ideal for newcomers to the genre. I on the other hand will wait for the SE version and save my pennies for another day. Sorry but this ship is sailing without me..........
I don't recommend this game.

I will keep this short and just say that the only redeeming quality this game has is the story line. If you are a fan of murder and crime, then Criminal Minds might appeal to you. Otherwise the game is slow, very tedious gameplay and to top it off, terrible graphics and over-crowded HOG scenes and mini-games that child could play. I will pass on this one and cannot recommedn this game unless you reallt have nothing better to do. Cheerds
For those who enjoyed the first two edition of PuppetSHow, you are in for a pleasant surprise. The Villain, Felicia, needs your help to undo her past and make things right again. How? By way of time travel ofcourse. As Detective, you find yourself in the past and your mission is to prevent the tragic events from happening that caused Felicia from going all vengful on everyone. You find yourself helping to save the very young Felicia and solve a mystery that will reveal the true culprit of PuppetShow. Once again, the devlopers have given us truely beautiful graphics and annimations, complimented by Voice/overs and very good sound-track. There are three modes of play and options include wide-screen and custom cursor. There are many puzzels to solve, items to find and suprisingly new tricky mini-games to play all giving you a really entertaining game experience. The HOG scenes are very crowded and there are some interaction involved. The only complaint I had with game mechanics was the inventory which is a fan that you need to open everytime you need an item. This became to be annoying after a while as I am a creature of habit, and am use to having my inventory open and available at all times. Visually the game is breathtaking with beautiful cut scenes and I loved the graphics and design. Yes there could have been extra features like a reward system or morphing objects but the storyline and gameplay makes up for that. I loved the first two games and I really cannot wait to continue my journey with the third edition. By the way, not to spoil anything, but what is up with that cat????? Happy Gaming everyone!!!
I bought this game when it first came out and seeing today on sale has made me want to replay it. If I were to describe the game in one word: CHALLENGING ! Word of warning: If you are looking for the usual storyline, crowded HOG scenes, Map, journal, standard puzzles and mini-games, sparkles that show you where to go and a hint system that is helpful, this is NOT your game. This game offers you absolutely no hand-holding and you will need of a walk-through. Thanks to Margie B who is absolutely a life-saver; there is a fantastic WT, and trust me folks, no matter how advanced of a player you are, you will use it. I loved the story which may seem a bit out there; I loved the graphics and funny enough, I relly did enjoy the Music. This game was one of the most challenging games I had played back when I was a novice to the adventures genre. I think I will try again and see how much I have improved. I recommed this game for hard-core players and absolutly recommend that you at leat try the demo.

I love the occasional Match Game and usually my favorites are ones where you build things. My favorites have been Fishdom series and Garden Scapes. For me these types of Match Games are medetative and I simply enjoy the game mechanichs without having to think much. On the other hand, I also enjoy the more challenging Match games that offer excellent graphics, visual and sound effects and progress in difficulty as you play along. This particular Match game offers me mearly an interesting storyline with poor graphics, terrible music which I couldn't mute because all sounds dissappeared and I really did not enjoy having Tetris like game involved. I found the game lacking in substance and just plain tedious to play. Sorry no buy here.
