I love adventure games and this is an adventure lite game along with some diffenent type of HO scenes, puzzles and mini-games to solve. For those who have not yet delved into large files adventures, I highly recommend you try this game. Ideal for beginners but fun for all. Although animation is very minimal, the graphics and art work are beautiful, crisp with vibrant colors. A far stretch from the dark and dreary visuals that we have see in many games. The storyline involves a group of young native american girls who stumble upon a ghost story, are required to undo a curse and are forced to travel between two realms in order to find a way out of their dilema. I found it to be an enchanting tale and am eager to help our group to unravel the curse. There is Voice-over only at the opening scene, the rest you read. There is only one game mode which does not mean you are surrounded by sparkles. Only HO scenes will have sparkles and they are not your average HO. This game requires a certain amount of thought and although it is linear to play, there is hardly any hand-holding which adds a good degree of challenge to overall gameplay. Hint system is relatively helpful and refills quickly. I loved the puzzles and mini-games, they were well done and fun to do. Also they can be skipped. There is alot of walking around, finding items, some which need to be combined and using them. As I said, thought is required and I actually found the adventure challenging enough for me to enjoy this game. This is a definite buy for me and I do believe, Spirit Walkers will be a plesant surprise for many.
In a fading world devoid of color, the ghost of Nikola Tesla reaches through the Ether and invites you on an incredible adventure through time and space.
I am a great fan of adventure games and Sci-Fi is a favorite theme of mine. However when it comes to physics, electricity and energy, that's when my brain begins to go numb and I become totally clueless. I couldn't tell you what a conductor or capacitor is and I have no clue as to what they do nor do I really care. Be prepared for alot of scientific jargon and get ready to dwelve into the colorless world of Maria Tesla. The story begins with Maria who is now on a mission that will hopefully restore her family name and solve the mystery behind the experiment gone bad that took place over 100 years ago. Now living in a world where humans are unable to see color or hear music, Maria is forced to assist Nikola Tesla who has managed to reach across time and seek out her help to discover what really happened on the day of the experiment. Sci Fi lovers will surely have a blast with this game, especially when there is time travel involved. Tesla's Tower is an Adventure/HOG, (heavy on the adventure) and carries an interest storyline The graphics are relatively good despite the fact that we are playing in a world where there is hardly any color. The art work is basically drab and lifeless, but it does fit well with the storyline. I wished that there was better resolution which would have made the game look crisp and more animated. There is only one play mode, but dont be put off, sparkles are at a minimum. You have a journal with a map along with a list of goals. There is no hopping via the map so you will have alot of back-tracking to do. There are voice overs and the hint system refills quickly. Mini-games are interesting and some were even challenging; they can be skipped after a brief time. HO scenes are slightly interactive and objects are relatively easy to find, despite the dark graphics. So why am I not jumping up and down cheering on about this game? That's easy, it was the annoying presence of Nikola Tesla himself! He continously pops up on your lower left screen and goes on and on with his scientific jargon and his constant orders as to where to go and what to do. He just does not shut up! For me, Nikola Tesla was a real PITA. However, if you are a Sci Fi buff and want to brush up on some historical facts on the life of Tesla, I do believe you will enjoy this game. Unless I can get a gag order for Tesla himself, I think I will mute him instead and continue on with the journey and help pure Maria get back her name.
I loved playing the first of the series and after having saved the City from a fog, I now have to save it from Wax! Once again we are off on another adventure and helping out the spirit world. I wish I could jump up and down and say "great game" but in all honesty, it just did not meet my expectation when it first came out as a CE. Yet I will say this, visually this game is top-notch. I lsimply oved the graphics, they are stunning and kudos to the devlopers for using real actors to play and very good V/O. A lot of work was put into this and although I expect that many will find game dark and sombre, it has an ominous atmsphere and makes for some good old-fashion fun. Unfortunately that really is all that this game offers, wonderful artwork and a relatively interesting story. Music and sound effects are very well done, and If you enjoy being spooked, this I recommend you play this after dark with the lights turned off. The sounds will definitely cause shivers down your spine. When it comes to game mechanics, this is where the my enthusiasm starts dwindle. It is your basic run of the mill Adventure/HOG with routine puzzles and mini-games that are simple to do. HO scenes are interactive but somewhat dark and crowded, making some items difficult to find. Game features include a journal, a SG that keeps your place and two game mode options. What is missing from this game is the level of challenge. I initially passed on this when it came out as a CE but instead waited for the SE version. Many hard-core players will find this game relatively easy. Get ready to do alot of back-tracking and watch out for the wax. Like I said, visually, the game is beautiful however playing it just did not excite me. Truthfully I was a bit let down but nevertheless, it is well worth to buy especially for beginners who will definitely enjoy the ride.

Finally, a game worthy of being labled CE. It took me exactly 10 minutes of gameplay to immediately buy this game. Where do I begin but start with applauding the Developers for this excellent game. Although I have not yet finished ( I will restart tonight and play hard-core mode), It has all the bells and whistles I expect in a Adventure/HOG CE. Let's begin with the story; you need to save your brother who has mysteriously disappeared upon the death of your Father, a famous film director and inventor. There is creepiness involved and some surprises along the way. The art work is beautiful, actually some scenes were stunning, I just wished the graphics could have been of a higher resolution which was a minor disapointment. Art deco is one of my favorite settings and this has all the look of a genuine film Noire set in the 1950's. Cut scenes have real people in them with voice-overs and full sound effects. Make sure you do wear your earphones to fully emerse yourself into the game. Game features include two modes of play, a diary with a map and list of objectives. The SG that does keep your progress hint sustem does work outside the HOS. There are several types of collectables to find along the way and many achievments which in my opinion is what counts in a real CE game and makes for a more challenging experience. All that was really mising were morphing objects! You have puzzles to solve and mini-games which I found unique and some were challenging. Hard-core players will be pleased. HOS are crowded and interactive and unfortunately the poor resolution did make some items difficult to find. Nevertheless, I for one did not mind the least. There is so much to do and my advice, take your time, enjoy the experience and solve the mystery. Main menu offers extra game bonus, HO games and puzzles. Unfortunately I really cannot tell you how long the game is but I can tell you that it will offer you a fun gaming experience if you are a fan of this genre. My personal opinion, if these developers continue to improve on their games mechanics and graphics, MCF will surely have worthy competitiors in the futur. I do look forward to many more games from them and KUDOS to BFG on this new partnership.

I remember this game so well and seeing it on sale today made me want to re-play it for old times sake. I recommend this game especially for HOG fans who want to move forward and play a more challenging interactive FROG. Although it is an old game it still offers you great play value and is the first installment of the series. Game mechanics involves standard FROG and items are fairly easy to locate, although there were a few tricky ones I remember. You solve puzzles and fun mini-games along the way. It is fairly long and there are lots to do in order to complete a chapter. İtems are not all in one scene, and that really is where the fun begins. I think there is enough challenge to it to please everyone. Although the stoyline is basically saving your brother in a magical land, I absolutely loved it when I played it for the first time. This game hooked me onto more adventurous games and with it I graduated from your basic HOGs. Dont expect super graphics because it is dated however the colors are vibrant and colorful. Once again, ideal game for HOG lovers and beginners. For Hard-core player, I do believe you will be pleasantly surprised with this.
I absolutely enjoyed the first two of the Snark games and am baffled as to why the third installment waivered off course; It seems the developers just lost their steam with this one. However I am a fan of the series and despite the fact that the graphics were blurry (compared to previous games) and game mechanics differed, I did enjoy the storyline and thought the Voice-overs as always were done well. Game mechanics in 'High Society' involves pop-ups and I really didn't mind but some might just be annoyed because trust me when I tell you, there are alot of pop-ups. Items are well hidden and not always in the same scenes, so you do get to use your brain cells to figure out where to go. There is a compass that helps you by pointing to optional directions and a hint system that re-fills quite quickly. There are two play modes and in difficulty mode, no sparkles at all. I actually liked the penalty for misclicks where you get bubbles all over your screen that you could pop. The storyline is cute and you need to solve two mysteries as well as prevent the Snark from getting his tail back. You have two alternative worlds where you also travel back and forth. However I was really dissapointed with the graphics which were too blurry and quite frankly, the game had a worn-out and dull look to it. I seem to recall that they were crisp and vibrant in the last two games along with much more challenging puzzles and mini-games. I whizzed though the trial perioud with 15 minutes to spare and funnily could not get out of the game when my time was up. #I believe this is a glitch#. I thought the puzzles and mini-games were just not as challenging as before. Nevertheless, I did enjoy seeing our famous Gossip reporter back and so I will be spending a credit on it. I do recommend that for those who enjoy cartoon style adventure/HOPA games, you should first try out the first two SNARK games; they were a hoot to play. I will hope that 'High Society' does get more challenging and am curious as to how our young heroine will clear her fiance's name. Besides, I have missed our old friend the SNARK.
I liked it, why? Only because I have always been a fan of the Jewel Quest series. Am I dissapointed? Yes! Only because I found this game lacking in challenge from its predesesors. I can imagine that this game would be ideal for those who have not yet played the earlier Jewel Quests, who enjoy Match Games and HOGs as well as have an interest in Archeology. You will have alot to read and unfortunately alot of interruptions from dialogues and instructions. There is only one play mode and the graphics are poor making objects very difficult to find. The only real challenge are with the HO scenes, objects are tiny and obscure and with the poor graphics, finding some of the items is next to impossible. The music is just plain annoying, on a loop that really gets on your nerves. There are V/Os and you play three different characters on your search for the treasure. Your journal gives you lots of facts and if you are not a fan of reading, this is not a game for you. There are jewels to collect for money and coins for hints. Once you find pieces of the jewelboards, you play the Match Games that offer you power ups. Like I said, beginners will enjoy this because the gameplay is relatively easy compared to what I played in the earlier installments where I usually ended up tearing my hair out in frustration. I am curious as to why this game did not meet standards that I expected however, as I am a fan, (and you would have to be one to buy this), I will spend a credit for old time sakes and continue on my journey to find the Oracle of UR. I really cannot full heartedly recommend this game and will say this....only if you are a fan and want to continue on with the series.

What is there not to love about this simply wonderful story of the Sandman and our little hero James, who tries to defeat him and save his friend Mary. Caught in a spirit world, James has alot to do to in order to find Mary and escape the nefarious Sandman. I loved the artwork, beatifully drawn and graphics are relatively crisp. Althought the cutscenes are a bit blurry, they involve real actors along with Voice overs. There are three modes of game play: Sleepy Head, Dreamer and (my personal favorite) Insomniac. Trust me, there will be no hand holding and absolutley no sparkles. The HOS are crowded but I loved the artwork and there is interaction involved (some a bit tricky). This game not only offers a good story, but also challenging puzzles and mini-games. There is alot of fun to be had as you collect items, use them and work your way towards freedom. A journal will help you as well as a hint system (unless you are playing the insomaniac level). Finally a chance to work those little gray cells. It took me 10 minutes to decide to buy this gem and because I too am a insomaniac, I will save this game for tonight and try to beat the Sandman and help James and Mary find their way back home.

This week's CE does not offer anything original or remotely different than other CEs we have been playing. Once again we find ourselves on a deserted island, surrounded by lost souls who as always, need our help; ( hence the title and alas, this seems to be an ongoing theme with games these days#. So the story begins with.....wait for it.....a plane crash! #why I was the only one onboard and where was I headed for is still a mystery to me#. Once I have rescued myself #or did I?#, I find myself stuck in the middle of yet another mystery which I need to solve by helping dead people. As I begin my mission #which I have yet to discover as there is no journal#, surprise surprise, there is the obligatory residential evil dude and his hapless victim, a young woman who died as a result of his mad jelousy and really, who cares! The one thing that really puzzled me was why I was there in the first place. As I mentioned earlier, with no journal on hand, I have no idea who I am, what I was doing flying solo across the ocean in the first place, and what is really going on with the story. No journal means that I am forced to navigate on my own, jotting things down on my notepad and gathering information from the dead folks. To make things even more complicated, there also is no map. Be prepared to take along an extra pair of running shoes because you will definitely be doing alot of back tracking. Gameplay is rudimentary with puzzles to solve, mini-games to play and a great deal of HOS # too many in my opinion#. HOG fans out there will definitely be enjoying this one. Game menu #which you can't access until you actualy start playing the game), offers many things such as access to a SG, awards, time scores, bonus games and minigames as well as the usual wall papers, artwork and videos. There are two gameplay modes and again I repeat: no map or journal! The graphics started out clear and crisp until you get on the island. Unfortunately due to atmospheric fog and bad weather conditions, everything goes downhill with regard to graphics and artwork. Excessive blurriness and grainy graphics along with poor animation cutscenes does make gameplay soemwhat tedious. I did however like the V/O which were well acted but the music was just plain annoying. The most challenging feat in the game was collecting the 40 "collectables"; poor graphics made most of them impossible to locate. Nevertheless the puzzles were fairly good and I found a couple of mini games fun and interesting. The SG on the other hand was a major disaster with blurry photoshots all done in sepia, I had to squint hard just to make out the details. This game starts out with the makings of being a good CE but I think that the lack of journal, map and the quality of the graphics will qualify this game as a good SE instead. However the developers have cleverly added bonus games, bonus awards and with all the other trimmings, I do believe fans of Adventure HOGs, will be spending the extra pennies on this. As for me, I think I will wait for the SE to come out and save my own pennies for another rainy day. These "lost souls" are on their own.

Where are Mulder and Scully when you need them? How I miss the X-Files and although the story behind TSF runs along the similar lines with our lead agent investigating a government cover- up involving a deserted Town, sadly the quality of graphics made this game somewhat painful to play. I was thrilled at the opening scene when the V/O began the story. However I then found myself in a world of blurry and very dark graphics where the most challenging part to be had was finding objects, ultimately causing great strain to my eyes. TSF could have been a great game to play had it not been for this very annoying factor. Game features offer you two play modes, you have a journal which gives you alot to read and a map that only shows you where you are. I liked the hint system which thankfully works outside of the HOG scenes and offers you a photo of where to go if you get lost. As for the HOG scenes? They are crowded, blurry and interactive. You have alot to do, finding inventory items which in my case meant clicking away blindly through the grainy scenes. On a positive note, I enjoyed the puzzles and mini-games and as I said, had the graphics been of better quality, this would have been a top-notch game. I will however recommend it for those who have extra credits to spare and are fans of the Sci-Fi genre. Just remember to wear your glasses......
