I gave this game 5 stars because I had a super time playing it. My one major complaint was that the game was too short and I actually finished in just over two hours. I spent a club reward and it was well worth it. It is by no means a game to be compared to any of the advance CEs that we play, but I have to give gold stars to the developers for the many wonderful features that this game does have, that many of the games dont bother with. A really sweet IHOG/adventure game that offers you 2-3 hours of quirkiness and fun. I will start of by saying that the voice-overs was fantastic, great acting along with very good sound effects. Being a film buff, I loved the Film Noire genre integrated into the story. Graphics were crisp and clear and there is a setting to brighten up your screen as an option. I loved the story; daughter saving her mother from a diabolical director gone mad. 2 Game modes to play and you have the option of changing them at any time during the game. A journal along with a Map, and a above average hint system. Lots of HOS, most items easy to find. puzzles to solve and a variation of mini-games that were different from what we usually have, although I wished that the directions were clearer. I have to admit that I totally got stumped on one of them and just skipped it. There was an interactive map that you could jump from one place to another (ıt also indicated where you could go to complete a task or play a HOS). This wasn't a superior game compared to the CEs that we get, but it was definitely a jewel amongst the many dull SEs that we have been seeing for a while. I totally enjoyed it and am very happy to recommend it to others.
I expect this game will appeal to those who love adventure games like my self. Although a lot is lacking in this paticular adventure compared to the many large files that I have, it is a small yet appealing to those who want to work a bit harder and use those grey cells. The graphics are top rate and that really would be the one element that gets top marks. The story is what we are use to , boy looking for lost Father Yadayadayada so no great mystery there. There is no voice over, no map, no journal and the hint system is far from being helpful So why did I buy it (using a club reward)? Mainly because it offered a challenge to figure out where to go and what to do. There is no hand holding here and no HOS as far as I can see (during the demo). Although there are sparkles, no clue is given as to what to do. I really enjoyed that. Few mini games that are too easy, I wish the developers would have offered more of a challenge here. Basically this is really click away madly, point to everything and figure out the puzzles with really cryptic hints. I imagine those playing would apprecaite a walkthrough. I really cannot dismiss this game so I will recommend it to those who enjoy games like Green Moon (Which I loved and was far superior to this paticular game) and just have club credits or rewards to spare. For adventures gamers or those who want to try adventure games, I think this will appeal to you. But I will say this, it is far from being a superior game and the devlopers really could have added more work. However It had potential and I actually enjoyed myself furing the demo and want to see just how it progresses.
For history buffs, this will be a very pleasant game to play. What struck me were the graphics, superior, crisp and beautifully designed. The graphics are really the highlight of the game. There is two game modes, voice-over and lots of HOS. I can say that this game is more HOG than adventure, no interactive with HOS and easy to find items. Mini games are sparse and not very challenging. I did get stuck as to where to go and what to do. In the Hard mode, there are sparkles for only HOS and the rest you really need to click away and find out what to do and where to go. Without a walkthrough, I did have to use the hint alot for that. It was easy to play once you collect the items needed but the fun factor I think is the storyline. For those who are interest in History, this is right up your alley. I wish this was more of an adventure with challenging puzzles however for those who enjoy HOGs, this is an above average game with beautiful graphics, easy minigames and lots of running around. I recommend this game and will ultimately spend one of my game credits on it, if only to find out what happens in the story. Happy gaming everyone.
I really am on the fence with this game, its a very straight forward HOG Adventure (with more HOS than puzzles) I dont mind the cartoon graphics however had the developers used VO, it would have added more appeal to the game (ie The Scruffs, the recent adventure in London) Basically the story is our young protagonist journys into family members' dreams to change the outcome of their lives. The storyline just did not appeal to me and I was more interested in the tasks rather than what was going on with the characters. There seems to be a flatness with the overall story. There were two gameplay levels, I played advance so there were only hints available with HOS. The rest you were on your own; no sparkles, no hand holding and surprisingly, no hints. I think for some players, a walkthrough will be warrented in this case. I appreciated that hints were available during the HOS as they were cluttered and some items were really obscure. I only ran across one minigame during the demo and it was not very challenging. I enjoy Adventure games but unfortunately I found this to be lacking in challenges and complex puzzles. I managed to complete all the tasks during the demo time without the need of hints or a walkthrough #I gather one will be made available#. I ended up spending time looking for a piece of paper and finally found it after clicking madly away. However on a high note, on occasions, you do need to use the grey cells to find what you are looking for. #For instance how to get rid of a mouse# I actually prefer a degree of complexity in my gameplay so this will appeal to those who like puzzles. ALso I like the fact that there is no handholding. I am not quite sure why this particular game did not grab me, maybe because of the very simple graphics, #a bit one-dimensional#, no voice-over, no sound effects and alot more HOS with no interactive play. However I am eager to see if the game proceeds with a higher degree of difficulty so ultimately I will spend a long overdue game credit on this. I do recommend this game for those who wish to spend Sunday by their computor and have a game credit to spare.
Once having downloaded the game, immediately I heard Mozart's Lacrimosa from Requiem played and I knew I was in for a treat. The Graphics were crisp and clear and surprisingly not dark. But then I noticed in the menu that there was no game mode which immediately meant no options to turn of sparkles. That was my first dissapointment and the second was no Voice-over. On the plus side there is a cursor option. As I begin to play, I noticed that although there was a bit of hand-holding with sparkles here and there, you were left on your own to figure out where to go and what to do. After 30 minutes of gameplay, I started to really immerse myself into the story and got lost a couple of times and had to resort to using the Strategy guide. IMHO this is almost a great adventure with the right amount of HOS. Puzzles were plenty and I ran across quite a few unique min-games which to my delight were fun and challenging. The HOS are clear and not junk-piled with interactive elements. The story-line is creepy involving recently orphaned twin sisters, one good and one very bad. There is a demonic element to the story which might put off some players but being a horror film buff, I dont mind. The Strategy guide opens up to where you are in the game which is a consideration not used by many game developers and is much appreciated. My only sincere advice would be to have added game mode for a more challenging experience and achievments which always makes us want to replay again. Other than that, I id not run across any glitch or problems of any kind. Unfortunately the strategy guide only shows two chapters which is sneaky because I have no idea about the game length. As I have two game credits to my list, I will go ahead a spend this lazy Sunday afternoon battling the forces of evil with BFG. Happy Gaming.
