Once again, from one of my favorite Game Developers a fun and challenging HOPA . Based on the demo, I really like this game despite the fact that graphics are not up to usual standards. Resolution is a bit low and cut scenes tend to get blurry and some scenes tend to be a bit dark at times. That being said, the game has everything that I love in a HOPA game; heavy on the adventure, a variety of HO scenes that differ from the ones we usually play and many unique and fun puzzles/mini-games to solve. Once again a mystery to solve where you are asked to investigate a series of deaths of young woman and find out who the killer is. There is a sinister family involved and a dark secret to uncover. As for Graphics, a bit dissapointing but neverthless I loved the artwork. I especially loved the fact that you can change the music and choose from a selection with the aid of a jukebok inside the shop, a rare novelty. Game features and mechanics include a diary and a hint system where you can increase number of hints by finding fans hidden in the HO scenes. There are three modes of game play, and you collect coins that will buy you items and tools that you will need during gameplay. HO scenes are different from the standard HOGs and very interactive. You either find several of one paticular item or use one item on another to complete the scene. This game is heavy on the adventure with many different puzzles and min-games to solve. Overall, I quite enjoyed the gameplay, there was just enough challenge to get hooked and I also found the story intriguing. In my opion, it may not be the best we have seen from this developer, but it certainly gets 5 stars from me on the mechanics alone.
Once again BFG has gone into the vault, dusted off the cobwebs and brought us a game that can only appeal to HOG fans and beginners of HO Games. The graphics are poor, visibility is a major obstacle in this game and scenes download very slowly which makes the game lag alot. There are voice-overs that are nicely done and the story is follow the adventure of a young girl who is searching for her Father and then there is the castle and a vampire. I love vampire stories but this game is just too much HOG for me. I have outgrown them. However some may enjoy the many HO non-interactive HO scenes with a long list to find. The most appealing part of the game is that you have a score board after each scene where you can follow your progress. There are also scrolls to collect and very easy to do mini-games. Like I said, many fishies may have outgrown these types of games including me. Cheers.
I confess, this is the very first ever solitaire game I have played on BFG. I dont know what possessed me to try it but I am really glad I did. As I amnot familiar with any other card games available, I really cannot base my review in comparison to others but I can say this; I found this game to be stress-free, enjoyable and fun to play. The graphics were clear, the music was non obtrusive and there was voice over at the beginning recounting the story about a kingdom that lost its house of cards and suits were at war. Our mission is to bring back peace. The option menu has three modes of game play and you get to select your card face and top design. I started off with casual as I was unfamiliar with the mechanics involved, Following the instructions, I began to play and soon found that the game was fairly easy; a standard solitair with one higher or one lower card to place regardless of suit. (You get extra points if you match the suits) There are achievements, bonuses during gameplay and a shop to buy power ups with coins collected. As you progress, you start needing those power-ups. With each level, you need to fill out the power bar and fulfil the objectives. After the first level, I really started to get immersed in the game and found myself enjoying myself more and more. Perhaps I am a novice at this and hard core fans may disagree with me, but I really liked this game and will definitely buy it. All I can say is if there are any fishies out there who have not yet tried any solitaire/board game, I really recommend you try this paticular game, who knows, you may get hooked. Ideal way to spend those rainy days when you have nothing to do and just want to zone out for a while.
Reveal the twisted plan of a deranged magician who has his own Vendetta against the world! And uncover a secretive world of magicians and discover the power they have held and passed down through the centuries!
I bought the CE version of Shattered Minds and loved it, so imagine my surprise when I started to play this game with great anticipation and felt extremly let down. it seems that this time round, the developers were either in a hurry to release this one or just decided to cut corners. As far as SE games go, Shattered Minds: Encore is an average Adventure/HOG with fairly good graphics, great use of color, some voice-overs and a story that pales in comparison to the first game. A mad Magician call LeStrange (Seriously?) has found a way to make world monuments dissapear (I thought Copperfield already did that?), and it is up to you to find him and stop his evil plot. Option menu offers three modes of game play and you can also adjust the size of your cursor which is new. Game features include a diary and a map that is absolutley useless, so bring along your running shoes on this one. Game mechanics include the basic seek and find and solve routine. There are HO scenes that are fairly easy to play with only one item that is interactive and the rest in plain sight. Also there are the obligatory mini-games that are ridiculously easy to solve. In one hour, I had completed the first chapter without any skip and according to the walkthrough, there are 4 chapters to complete. I did not dislike the game and will be more than happy to spend a credit or club reward on it but unfortuantely it is a far cry from the first game that I played. Gameplay offered me no challenge and I just went through the motions without being invested into the plot. I expect that "Encore" will appeal to many beginners to the genre; as for hard-core players, you will find this stress free and a whizz to play. As I said, not bad but certainly not Great!
Finally, after a long wait, Jesse is back. I am surprised however that this game did not come out as a CE whereas the second installement did. I would have prefered my SG to have been integrated into the game. Anyhow, for those who are unfamiliar with the Flux triology, no worries, there are alot of factoids and film reels that will give you flashbacks of the first two previous games. I am a fan and have been waiting for this new Flux adventure. In my opinion, they seem to be getting more complex with each game. The Book of Oracles is an Adventure/HO/FROG with puzzles; all thrown in to create an excellant gaming experience. I love the graphics and visual and dont let the cartoon style put you off. The visuals and artwork are very well done and its good to see bright colors in a game for a change. You have voice-overs and the music and sound effects add great tension to the game-play. The story of Jesse continues and as Jesse, you have to rectify the damage she created in her last adventure, re-connect her to her family and dive deeper into the family secrets dealing with time travel. There is alot to do in this game and game features include two modes of gameplay, a diary/journal that also lists tasks and a good hint system. Like I said, too bad there is no SG. The HO scenes are crowded and slightly interactive and I found them to be very challenging as some objects were very miniscule and well camoflaged. Game mechanics has you finding fragmented objects which are combined in your inventory tray at the bottom. These objects are later placed in the correct place to use. You also need to collect emblems that are interesting factoids hidden in every scene. The puzzles/ mini-games are fun and unique; I really did enjoy them. Book of Oracle is challenging aswell as fun to play, my trial whizzed by and now I cannot wait to continue. I recommend for those who have not played any of the Flux adventures to start with Casual mode as to get use to the game mechanics. I think overall, Flux Fans will not be dissapointed. This is one game where I would have been willing to spend the extra pennies had it come out as a CE.
I actually bought the CE version despite the fact that it really wasn't an outstanding game but this game had one of the best visuals I have seen in a long time. Hats off to the developers for the opening scene. They went all out by using real film and actors which really is the most outstanding thing about this game. I loved the cut scenes, sharp graphics, artwork, visuals and sound effects. All superbly done. Also I have to praise the storyline, being a fan of one of the great conspiracies that involve the mystery of the Philospher Stone, I was totally captivated. Dark Heritage is your basic Adventure/HOG with game features that include two play modes. Game features include a journal and a hint system that does refill quickly. Throughout the game, it is your basic seek and find inventory items, play HO scenes that are slightly interactive and collect some scrolls along the way to get the back story. It was a long game and I did enjoy the mini-games. Not overly challenging but well worth the SE price tag. Be warned, as there is no map, you have your journal/diary to help you and there is alot of back-tracking involved. As I said, really very basic gameplay which was a bit of a letdown for me but nevertheless, the visuals and the story make up for this. With all the work that was put into the visuals, I had high expectations but instead I found the gameplay too be a little predictable. However it is an excellent SE game which I do recommend for those who passed on the CE version.
Follow a mad killer in Night In The Opera, a thrilling Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure game. An envious alchemist devises a mystical musical instrument capable of drawing the last breath of his victims.
At first I was a bit confused as to what this game was; HOG or Match 3, but since I am a fan of both, I really did not mind at the ambiguity of the game mechanics and found myself enjoying the game as I played on. We begin with our story which is a who-done-it murder mystery that takes place at the Opera House. Someone has poisoned our Prima Dona and behind it is a mad killer who has come up with a unique way to steal voices. The graphics are sharp and clear and I did like the art work. There is nothing really outstand about the visuals but I really did like the music. There are no voice-overs but the music is great. For classical buffs out there, you have the treat of collecting albums from famous operas and you can actually play them on the gramaphone. Kudos for this wonderful feature. Menu options include two game modes: Timed or Relax Mode and as you begin you quest as the Detective, you find your self solving the case by playing HO scenes that are interactive, also there is the adventure element where you use items you pick up along the way and best yet, you have M3 games to play. Now here is where the confusion begins. The instruction are a bit off as to how to play the M3 games because there are so many bonuses to collect. Also there is a store where you can buy your power ups as well. The match game boards basically are the same but I really did love the Theatre masks and although I have yet to figure out what the Coffee Pot on the bottom right is used for, I am definitely intrigued. Over all the game is not altogether difficult to play; the HO Scenes are junk-piled, visuals are good and some items are difficult to spot. The hint system works quickly. There are no mini-games to play, In stead you play the M3 games in order to move on. I just wished the game instructions were a bit more clear, but I nevertheless, I just threw myself into the game and really enjoyed myself. I do recommednd this game for M3 fans as well as for HOG fans. I loved the music and I am also curious as to who the culprit is. 4 Thumbs up for Night at the Opera.
I recommend this game!

Pride & Prejudice: Hidden Anthologies
Explore the rich world of Jane Austen’s most beloved novel, Pride & Prejudice! Enjoy this Hidden Object Adventure and get a new perspective to the classic story.
A question to the developers: What were you thinking when you drew Mr. Darcy? Seriously, how could you turn one of English Literature's most appealing male character looking like a middle aged frumpy looking toad. That really was the last straw for me on this game. Not to mention I really am not in the mood to carry out meanial tasks from cartoon characters; fetch this, sew that, bake this? I dont take that from my husband, and I certainly will not have a game domesticate me. Granted I did love the graphics, beautiful scenes but the endless dialogues made the game very boring. Also the confusing instructions which just confused me; perhaps it's Monday and I am not in my groove just yet. The music was beautiful when you listen to it the first time; after the 10th, my jaws ached from gritting my teeth. HO scens are pretty to look at and that is all I can say about the HO scenes, they are pretty to look at. Finding the pages of diary and the little wax seals just caused my eyes to tear up from all the squinting. Sorry but even Lizzie and Darcy's timeless love is not worth me getting more crows feet at my age. I can only recommend that you try the tiral version and make up your mind, many may enjoy the Bennet experience and many like me will prefer to re-read the book.
A new breed of virus has spread throughout the City of Oxford. You must search the city for a missing girl who holds the key to stopping the global epidemic!
After having watched the opening scene, I really had made up my mind to purchase this game, nevertheless I did complete the trial before pushing the buy button. I expect that this is one game that you will either love or hate, mainly because of its storyline and visuals. The story begins with a viral plague that has erupted in a town. Patient zero tuns out to be twin siblings, one has has already succumbed to the virus whilst the other has survived. She carries the antidote and you are hired to find her but there is another mysterious character who is also after her. The plot is certainly different from the demons and ghosts that we have seen and I really did like the way these devlopers integrated real live film footages along with real people in the game. What really impressed me was the option menu which is unique and I believe will be the new trend in games. You are able to adjust game features to normal or advanced or customise all your settings including how fast you want your hint to recharge, your puzzles to be skipped and the amount of sparkles you want. Now that is just so cool , KUDOS to the developers. Game features also include great voice overs that are well acted out and I did like the music which added suspense to the gameplay. Unfortunately my excitment begins to wane with regard to visuals. The Graphics were poor, grainy and at times, too blurry and this really suprised me considering the complexities that were involved with the game mechanics. I liked the artwork and atmospheric condition being what it is; alot of rain and grey clouds, that still does not justify the poor Graphics which were a major disapointment with me and I imagine will be a major complaint with many gamers as well. This game is an Adventure/HOG with unique HO scenes which I think will begin a new trend in the gaming community. HO scenes are ultra interactive whereby each item you find is used to find another object. Had the graphics been better, I would have certainly enjoyed playing them more but alas, due to poor visibility, some items were just impossible to find. As for the adventure aspect of the game, you need to collect items, use them and play some mini-games along the way. You are equiped with a diary and a map that unfortunately is not interactive. You also have to collect gold coins along the way which you use to purchase some vital items during the game. The mini-games are complex, at least the ones that I did play and instructions are not so very clear. The SG is also different with too many colors, you will understand what I mean when you refer to it. Hard-core players will definitely enjoy this game and I think that despite the visuals, Infected offers a really unique gameplay which will appeal to those who are bored of standard HOGs. I myself am definitely excited about the storyline and will take on the mission to find the girl and save the world from ultimate death.
I actually liked it despite the quality of graphics which were a bit outdated and grainy, the poor sound quality, no voice overs and no map. In addition to having only one play mode, I actually enjoyed the game as I continued on. I thought the story line was interesting as we revisited the adventures of Gustav and Victor; two brothers who are at rival with each other because of a mystic Diary that creates havoc in a town. Also suprising enough, I also thought that the HO scenes were clever, not junck-piled and without any interaction (actually one one item on the list was interactive), but objects were well hidden and not as easy to find as one would expect. The mini-games were the same that we have seen before but there were some that were clever and challenging. The lightbulb puzzle had me going for a while. The one major complaint I did have were the sparkles. I think it is reasonable to say that devlopers should know that most gmers have outgrown the basic adventure HOG and had the devlopers added another gameplay mode, hardcore players would have enjoyed it more. However I thought that overall this was a decent game to play and would recommend that beginners of Adventure Hogs should definitely give this one a try. Not to worry, although this is the third installment of the Mystic Diary Series, it is a stand alone story. I myself will spend a credit on this as I am curious to see just how the game progresses and plus I do own the first two of the series and will neverthless complete it. Cheers everyone.
