Help Lillian discover Titanic’s mysteries and get closer to unveiling the truth behind the disaster that took her great- grandmother’s life 100 years ago.
Once again we are on board the infamous Titanic and Folks, all I can really say is we have been there and done that so many times, I have out grown the tee-shirt. However, for HOG Fans and those who are fascinated with factoids regarding the Titanic, this game may appeal to you. The graphics are very old, but sharp, animations are very badly done during the opening scene. No voice over, no sound effects and hardly no music. A very silent game. You have alot of HO scenes, non interactive and some mini-games which you can switch to Match 3 if you like, however I really should warn you, the slowest moving M3 I have ever seen. Gameplay is extremely tedious and you have penalty for clicking hich is unfortunate because you need to click away blindly when finding a way out of a scene. You get these annoying little messages that tell you this way is block or task has been completed. There are photo fragments to find and some are so small, you need that hint button which thankfully re-fills quickly. There is nothing special or remotely interesting about the game and as far as the story goes, I doubt anyone will care. Nevertheless, I did manage to play the entire demo and in my opinion, this one should have stayed down with the ship.
Ok, I admit that sometimes I may be a bit challenged at some of the complex games out there but seriously, I felt incredibly stupid with this game because for the life of me, I just could not figure out how to play this. It took me a good while, alot of trial and error until I finally caught on, I still did not like it. I ask you, what was wrong with the old way of playing a Match 3 game? This apparently is a new way of a Match 3 game and apparently you have to remove two of a kind that are sepearted by lines and the only thing I can tell you is try the demo, and if you figure it out, Bravo. The game itself looks very dated with silly cartoon style graphics, no voice over and offers two play modes, relaxed or times. There are power ups and you need to collect money to buy buildings and accessories for a new amusement park. The worst thing about the entire game was the music which was on a loop, the same tune over and over. After 20 minutes of gameplay, I gave up and deleted. Sorry, its a pass for me.
There are two types of Match Games that I enjoy, the ones that you can simply play to zone out, build things or the ones that make you pull out your hair as they get harder and harder to play. This paticular game does not fall in either catagory, it just is what it is, a mediocre attempt at a Match 3 game that starts off simple and somewhat confusing and then gradually becomes interesting, if you can wait that long. The story is about collecting clock hands to get the clocks working in a town lost in time. The English Translation is bad and note to devlopers, seriously invest in some decent traslation. It makes the game look awkward. There are two modes of game play, timed or relax. the graphics are sharp and if you like colorful gems, then you are in luck. There are no annimations, cartoon graphics and no voice over. Objective is to collect as many gems with clock hands in them, buy your power-ups and play the occasional bonus rounds which were actually hard to complete. The boards are the same and with each level, game play gets a bit more complex. There are alot of power-ups to buy and up-grade. Game play is a bit tedious and actually after a while, I just found the game to be a bit of a waste of time. I think I will go back and re-play Gardenscapes instead.
If you passed up on the CE version then you really have to get the SE version today and find out just what happened to your twin brother as you explore the abondoned Haunted Hotel. Once upon a time, the very first Haunted Hotel started off as a simple straightforward HOG, but since then the Haunted Hotel series have gradually evolved with each game and with this latest edition, developers now bring us a new HOPA game that takes place in New Orleans, a ideal setting for any ghost story. The tale of Charles Dexter Ward offers something for everyone; Hidden Objects, Puzzles and Adventure and lets not forget, a great Ghost story. I loved the graphics and . using real live film footages always impresses me. This game had me at the opening scene. The sound effects were truly oustanding, I recommend you use headphones while playing and enjoy the sounds of swamp creatures in the background that set the mood for the game. Game features included widescreen, stretch screen and custom cursor. There were two game modes, but be warned, there were the odd sparkles here and there in advance mode which I found to be disappointing. Game features included a task list but no journal and no map. Instead, you need to find pages of a missing diary as you roam each scene. There was a very good hint system when used, tell you exactly where to go and what to do. Game mechanics were standard, involving collecting objects from non interactive HOS (again with the disappointment) and solve a variety of puzzles along the way. The puzzles were very enjoyable and some actually needed a bit more elbow grease. There are also achievements to earn along the way which were basically tied to each task done. The only problem I had with the entire game was the lack of a journal, the fact that you needed to collect the diary pages to unravel the mystery and with each page just seemed to slow down the pace a bit. If you are a fan of ghost stories then you are in for a treat; put on your headphones and be prepared to surround myself with the eeriness of the sound effects and discover what really happened to Charles Dexter Ward.S
I actually bought the CE version when it came out and now it ranks way high on my list of favorite games for 2012. It really was a fantastic and entertaning game to play. Our story begins in the town of Martlet and as the Royal Detective, you once again have been summoned to save a town that is palgued by giant statues that have suddenly come alive and are raising havoc. Your mission is to stop them and find out just who is behind this evil plot. Fear not though, you are not alone, you meet up with an adorable little friend called Rupert who from that point on, will be your talking guide, story teller and hint provider. You also will need special help as you play the game and for that you aso have a pet Rooster and a wood chooper, one that grabs objects far from reach and the other that does the heavy lifting and breaking. You have options for wide or full screen, custom cursor and different sound effects and there are three modes of gameplay to choose from. Game mechanics involve lots of HO scenes that are interactive, adventure play as well as great mini-games to solve along the way. You also have a fantastic interactive map that not only shows progress but transports you to locations. So no need for those running shoes. As an extra bonus, you also need to collect miniatures that are hidden throughout the game and there are achievements and awards to gain as you play. Visually the game is beautiful and graphics are good. Puzzles and minigame are unique and there is a good degree of challenge in the game so everyone will definitely be pleased. Kudos to BFG for giving us this gem.
I loved the first two Grim Tales and I really enjoyed the demo for this third installment. Once again your sister needs your help. Her son has been inflicted by a mysterious spell that ages him and you must find out who is responisble and save him. Vİsually the graphics are sharp with the exception of cut-scenes where there is some blurriness, however I loved the artwork. Sound effects are far superior than I have seen in many games, especially environmental sounds and Special effects. The menu offers you three game modes and I think hard core gamers will enjoy the challenge. This is a good HOPA, heavy on the adventure where there are locks to open, objects to find and HO scenes to play. HO scenes are not many but they are junk-piled and interactive. Graphics are good and objects are easy to find. Mingames were fun and some quite challenging, I had a devil of a time completing the Bee puzzle; not as easy as it looks. You have no journal but instead, your companion is a puppet that has come to life. Click on him and you have access to an interactive map that not only takes you where you want to go, but also tells you what needs to be done in that location. This special feature actually makes the SG obsolete. Overall I liked the game but do wish that the developers would have included some extras like collectables, morphing objects or achievements. Without these extras and the fact that the puppet really acts like a SG, one would wonder why we should spend extra on this game. As the SG only shows one chapter, I really cannot tell you if it is worth the CE price tag. Regardless of the fact that I really wasnt thrown off my chair, I did enjoyed the visuals, the puzzles and the story. My personal recommendation is to play the demo, check out the Walk-through for length of game and decide for yourself. As I already own the previous two Grim Tales, I will add this third game that in my opinion, is ALMOST as good but not great.
Cargo flight 821 has crashed on an uncharted, beautiful and deadly planet. Your only companion is the trustworthy robot, Oscar and together you must escape.
A Sci Fi HOPA game for adventurers and hard-core players who like a bit of challenge. This is one of those games that you will either love or hate. After the first 10 minutes, I loved it and went off to buy. Sci-Fi is a theme we dont get every day and I just could not resist cute little Oscar. Your first task is to assemble him by locatying his parts. Fron then on, Oscar the Robot is your companion, guide, hint and data holder. His voice is a bit irritating, but then again, he is a robot. The story is that your ship has crashed on a mysterious planet and both you and Oscar must find a way to escape. I Almost gave this game a 5 star game but unfortunately the graphics were just not up to standard. Although I really loved the artwork, the bright colors, graphics were a grainy and a bit blurry. SOund effects were amazing , if not a bit too loud but then again, we are in a spaceship and on a planet where things are not what they seem. There are no game modes available and you do have sparkles showing you points of interest. The HO scenes are junk-piled and non-interactive. You quest is to find parts, assemble them and search the planet with Oscar, who also provides you with a map and task list. There are mini-games to play and they were relatively easy to solve. Actually, the gameplay was easy and the challeng really is to find your way around. I expect a walk-through will be useful. Like I said, you will either love this or hate it. I recommend you try the demo to find out. I myself am off to join Oscar and continue onwards and awayyyyyy.
I recommend this game!

Ghost Whisperer™
Join Melinda Gordon in helping ghosts with unfinished business.
Being a fan of the show, I am always in the mood for a good ghost story and this one has two. Ghost Whisperer is certainly not a great game but it does carry a good storyline which is where I gave my high marks. Catagorized as an Adventure, I found it to be more of a HOPA. Not very challenging but entertaining. Graphics and visuals are dated but sharp and good, not outstanding and if you can get past the carton paste figures, its not so bad. There are no voice-overs and there are two game play options. You have two seperate stories to play which is like having two game in one. Game features include only a map that you will need to get from one location to another. There is a task bar right above the inventory list and a hint system that does refill quickly. Game mechanics involve adventure play whereby you need to find your clues and items for your inventory. There are also HO scenes that are over-crowded and not interactive (except some items are obscured by a fog which can be lifted whn you find a small ghost like image). In addition there are mini-games to paly which I actually enjoyed. Although they were not complicated, they were well designed and blended into the story-line. This is not an outstanding game and yes the visuals are a bit dated as are the game features. However, the storyline keeps your attention and I think beginners to adventure games should definitly give this one a try. if you are a fan of mystery, ghosts and ofcourse Melindai the Ghost Whisperer, you may just enjoy this game. I actually did enjoy myself during the demo and have already spent this months's credit on it. See you all onthe other side......
Howlville is a real HOPA, heavy on the adventure and based on the demo, this will be a real challenge for hard-core players who are tired of hand holding and directions. The story, while very familiar, takes us once again in search of a missing Father, an experiement gone bad, and a cover-up to some conspiracy. (Didn't we just played one like this?# You have escaped from a mental institute and off on the adventure to save your Father and save the wolrd. #Yes we definitely played a couple of those). Game menu offers two gamemodes and that is about it. The Graphics are crisp and sharp. There is voice-overs and you have only a journal to aid you along with a list of objectives. The funny thing here is that while I chose casual to familiarize myself with game mechanics, there were no sparkles of any kind, no black bar ontop explaining what I had to do or what I needed to find. You really are on your own here which is what I love about adventure games. The HO scenes are interactive and also a brain teaser. Some items are hidden behind others, and some you need to figure out where to use. Some Fishies may not be pleased with this. The absence of any balck bar with hints or sparkles may either be a glitch of some kind or like Green Moon, a real brain teaser which in my case, I am defintly up to the challenge. Initial game play involves clicking around everywhere unit you hit something. You then need to figure out exactly where you need to use it. I liked the mini-games, not very hard but unique in design. Unfortunately there is no map and the journal is no help at all and although I have spent 45 minutes and have still yet to cross over the gate and get on with my mission. I assume that like many players, I will be either loving this adventure or hating it; I am definitely going ashead to find out. Besides, I have the need to exercise those little grey cells of mine.
I actually wrote a review regarding the CE version for this game and although it carries many qualitites, I opted to wait for the SE version to come out mainly because it lacked the challenge. But Guess What? today there is a sale on CE Games so if you haven't bought it, go ahead, you will definitely like this one. Rite of Passage is your basic HOPA game that will appeal great to beginners and IHOG fans alike. The story revolves around the dissapearance of children, recently a young girl who just happens to be your student. (You are a music teacher), and so it is up to you to find the dark secret that lies ahead. Graphics are good, not outstanding but I really did like the artwork and best of all, the use of colors. There are voice-overs and I liked the music. Game features include 2 modes of game play and a journal. There is no map and trust me, you will be running around alot in this game, so bring along those extra pair of running shoes. Game mechanics include HO scenes that are junk-piled and interactive. This is where graphics tend to get blurry a bit. It seems that many people have different opinions on graphics; some complain and some dont. I always compare graphics and visuals to outstanding games like the MCF games and in my opinion, not many games can hold a candle to that. I liked the puzzles and mini-games, although not very challenging, some were quite interesting and unique. There are collectables, 55 masks are hidden throughout the game, I just wished that they had morphed. All in all, good story and good gameplay and a good time to be had.
