This offering from QuickClick is one of the most artistically beautiful games I have played, the graphics are crisp & clear & the music melodic but unobtrusive, no voiceovers but the dialogue is clickable. Initially you begin in Egypt but then move to other locations & this gives the artists the chance to showcase their work which I cannot praise highly enough.
There are 32 trophies to collect; such as playing a location without a hint or collecting a specified number of items. I love this type of addition to add interest to a game, I was not able to complete all of them but this gives me a great excuse to replay.
The hidden object scenes are splendid, there are interactive items within them & all the objects are suitable for the period/location. There is a plethora of mini games which are part of the flow rather than just being add-ons & they range from the easy to the moderately hard. In addition within the ‘inset’ pictures & mini games you may often find an item that you need to use elsewhere so you have to keep your eyes open.
There are two modes of play, casual which is very easy, the journal will give you the answer to solving the mini games & there are glints within the H0 scenes to help you out. In expert only the H0s have sparkles & there are no glints; I played on this mode as I found casual too easy. Initially you have 5 hints & you have to shoot the figures that pop up to gain more (figures such as mummies or similar).
This game was a joy to play & I highly recommend it for its beauty as well as the quantity of puzzles that are not so hard that you have to skip the majority. It is also very lengthy & if you decide to get the collector’s edition the bonus play took me around 90 minutes so is well worth it.
I recommend this game!

This is a game I beta tested & was pleased to see it finally released as this is a lovely game; the graphics very clear & sharp, the artwork was a little ‘twee’ in the beginning but once you leave the house it becomes rather surreal in tone; it is quite beautiful & filled my widescreen. There are some really lovely details – my mouse touched some bottles hanging in a tree & they tinkled.
You have a journal with a map showing where you are & where there are any tasks to complete, it is not interactive so you will have to walk between scenes but this gives more time to appreciate how enchanting they are.
The hint recharges in around 30 seconds on easy mode & 1 minute 45 seconds on hard. On easy mode items of interest glint & there are very large sparkles to show the H0 scenes; unfortunately these large sparkles also appear in hard mode, I would have wished them to be less intrusive.
The hidden object scenes are excellent as there are interactive items & the mini games are not too hard although they do not come with instructions so you may need to use the hint.
There are 33 origami figures to find throughout the game; I always love it when there is a game long task. Make sure you scrutinise the scenes as they are not always easy to see at first glance.
Unfortunately there is no voiceover however the music suits the game & the background sounds are nice enough. Definitely a game to try.
I recommend this game!

I really like this game; the graphics are average; they could be a little sharper but it did not detract from my enjoyment. The locations have two aspects; you can change them from a modern appearance to a sort of Aztec look; the premise of 'changing the scenes' was a nice twist; make sure you click on lots of objects as there is plenty of interactivity. One of my favourites was a skeleton who sat up & scratched his head, thanks to the developers for adding tongue in cheek humour to the game.
There were voiceovers which I enjoyed; some of the acting was a little over the top but I like a few human voices in my games. The music did begin to annoy me after a while but you can turn the volume right down whilst leaving the background noises turned up.
There are quite a lot of hidden object scenes & some of the items are very well hidden; there are also some interactive items in the H0s. In addition in some of the H0 scenes instead of searching for items you put them back into the scene.
Some of the mini games were challenging & I couldn’t always quite work out what to do but there is a skip button if needed.
There is a journal & along the way you will find video tapes – these can be replayed if you wish. You will need to backtrack quite a lot through scenes & there is no map.
Definitely a game that has replay value.
I recommend this game!

The graphics are crisp & clear with wonderful colours & the artwork is drop dead gorgeous; the setting is early 1900s & the scenes & objects are from the period. This includes the hidden object items, excellent attention to detail on the developers part, you won’t be looking for any electrical items in this game.
The music is a pleasure & I liked the background noises. In the options you can choose full screen which fills my widescreen monitor & you can change the custom cursor; although I don’t think you will want to, the game cursor is long & elegant with a beautiful point.
You can play in hard or easy mode – hard mode does have a few glints but no major sparkles which appear everywhere on the easy mode. The hint recharges in around 30 seconds on easy but a massive 3 minutes on hard so you are not tempted to use it too often.
The H0 scenes (there are a lot of these) are a mixture of word lists & shapes which adds interest; there is a misclick penalty – the cursor turns red & moves around slowly which is ok in easy mode but takes around 10 seconds in hard which seems like an age. I managed to work out the answers to all the mini-games I played during the demo with some thought.
Unfortunately there are no voiceovers just subtitles but it did not spoil my enjoyment. The gameplay was very logical; you could work out where you should be going & what to look for. There is a journal which tells your story & gives clues as to your next task but there is no map as you do not need it; there is walking between scenes but they are not miles apart.
My one reservation is that the game did seem to end rather abruptly.
I recommend this game!

This is a lovely game with a beautiful musical score, clear graphics & wonderful artwork, it also has voiceovers. The scenes were widescreen & there is an option to change the game cursor.
There is a map in the game so that you can find your way around the theatre in which the story is set; it is not interactive but it does display where you are & where an area of interest is. As you make your way around the scenes try clicking on everything as there are some lovely little touches, birds that fly away, a cat who hisses at you. Also whenever a glowing eye appears click on it as it will take you back in time & you will see how the theatre looked 40 years ago.
In addition the map book contains an objective list with hints as to what to do next; there is also a list of the characters & facts about them are found through the game & are added to their profiles.
This is a Fragmented Object Game & some of the objects are a little difficult to find but the hint button recharges in 30 seconds; there is an over clicking penalty. In addition the hint button can be used by dragging an item from your inventory over it to get a clue as to how to use the item.
Some of the mini games seemed to be relatively easy but others were very hard & I have no idea how I solved them; more by luck than judgement.
I am sorry to say however that there is no choice of game mode; there is only one choice & that is to play with sparkles & glints. What a shame there isn’t a hard mode to select.
There are morphing objects to be found which are called 'macabre items, these are objects found in various locations, that change and morph into something else. They're difficult to spot but you can collect 20 of them; they boost up your hint system.
I recommend this game!

First of all I have to say what stunning graphics & artwork; this is a really beautiful game to look at; the music is subtle & I liked the ambient background sounds.
The graphics are clear & the hidden object scenes are nice & crisp, some of the items are a little small but I did not need to resort to a hint; there are 42 story pages to find throughout the game to add interest. I was able to solve the mini puzzles without help as they were not too hard.
There are no voiceovers & you can click through the onscreen dialogue if you are a fast reader, you can also use an option to mute the sounds.
In easy mode there are the usual sparkles & glints & a 30 second recharge on the hint or you can select advanced mode, no sparkles anywhere & 2 minute hint recharge. I found the custom cursor a little ‘sticky’ so I switched it off after which I had no problems. There is an overclick penalty but it only lasts a couple of seconds.
There is a task list on screen & a diary giving the story; this is not a dark & eerie game, instead you move from an island into fairy land & back to the island; there is a lot of going back & forth but no map. This is a lovely bright game to play & I was enraptured.
I recommend this game!

Another reviewer here has given an excellent overview of the game.
I was enjoying the gameplay immensely until I met the 'match the crows' mini-game which was impossible for me to complete. As an older gamer my hands are simply too painful to move at speed.
I can never understand why Her Interactive games don't do a skip button .
If you do not have this problem then this will be a great game to play.
I recommend this game!

I really loved this game; the graphics & artwork were excellent, there were good voiceovers with clickable dialogue & melodic music. The scenes filled my widescreen. In the early chapters there are some lovely little touches, click on a leaf & it will blow away or click on a lamp in an office & it will turn on & off; I would like to have seen these extras in the later chapters as they add to the enjoyment.
There are two modes of play, regular with a 1 minute hint recharge, sparkles & glints to give you clues where to go next. The expert mode only has sparkles for the hidden object scenes & a 2 minute hint.
You get a diary & you really need to read this as it gives you directions where to go next & also fleshes out the storyline a lot. There are a lot of areas to play in the game & although there is no map it is not so hard to become oriented although the going back & forth can get a little tedious.
The hidden object scenes are well drawn & have interactive items to play with; some of the items are well hidden; a few were rather like junk piles but most were not. The mini games were fun to play & had varying degrees of difficulty.
The storyline was good & there were a few twists to add interest; all in all a great game to play. You do not need to get the Collector’s Edition to get a proper ending although the CE does augment the final chapter. It only took me 40 minutes to play the bonus chapter so I’m glad I was able to get this in a sale as I would not have wanted to pay full price.
I recommend this game!

Card games are not my genre but tried this one; it started off as a fun up & down solitaire because of the silliness of some of the crimes.
The music is very tedious; you will do better to turn on your own. There was an option of normal or hard mode & tried both but could not tell the difference.
In addition to earning the power-ups as you increase in rank & cash to buy warrants; if you turn over a number of cards (random) you will light up the wheel of misfortune. Spinning this gives you extra cards or takes away some of your cash, etc.
I didn't have any problem assigning clues to suspects & the crimes were very easily solved; you won't wear out your brain trying to work out whodunit.
As you finish each game of solitaire you have the option to continue back to the map for a new location or replaying the level to get a perfect score. I chose to replay each time and it never took more than 4 or 5 replays to get perfect.
All in all it was easy to play but after the first few hours I got bored, the crimes became repetitious & earning extra ranks did not seem to make the game any harder to play.
I will recommend though for those who like their card games to be relatively easy to while away the time.
I recommend this game!

This game is like reading a book with the added bonus of some hidden object scenes & minigames. There is only one mode of play but there are no sparkles or glints to help & some the items are pretty difficult to find.
The graphics & artwork are about average & the scenes a little dark but as we are in London during the 1800s who would expect anything bright; it suits the story which I enjoyed. There is no voiceover (except during the introduction) & you can click through the dialogue at your own pace.
At times the music becomes annoying but then you move to another scene & it changes pace & tempo & reverts back to being pleasant to listen to.
There are 5 hints to begin & if you use them you can find potion bottles throughout the game to top your hints back up to 5. I did find the misclick penalty pretty annoying.
The mini games were pretty easy but it makes a pleasant change from having to wrack my brain.
I recommend this game!
