I know that many people love this game but it is not for me & my comments are based on the demo only.
I found the graphics overfull of detail & many items were very difficult to find as they blended too well into the background. The story itself did not grab me, I did play long enough to get out of the castle but had lost the will to want to know what would happen when I reached the forest. I really hated the fairy whipping across the screen every time I clicked on an item of interest.
The voice of the fairy was particularly bad but thankfully the sound could be switched off; the music however, was lovely.
The hint recharged after only 30 seconds but it was not always very helpful, it would often highlight an object that you knew needed cleaning/interaction with something else, etc. but didn’t give any guidance as to what you were required to do.
I did not find a rapid click penalty, I played in advance mode & there were no sparkles.

This is a beautiful game from Daily Magic Production & the atmosphere of the game was perfect for the story; I also liked the music, it was unobtrusive & suited the genre. The voiceovers for the characters were really nice & you could click to move to the next sentence which is great for people who read quickly.
The hidden object scenes were excellent, there were a lot of interactive items & some were quite difficult. The mini games were hard for me & I felt a sense of accomplishment when I completed most of them without using the skip button. I used a walkthrough once & used the hint button less than ½ dozen times mainly because it was only useful in a H0 scene, if you use the hint in a scene it really doesn’t tell you anything you don’t know.
I really hated the ‘that works in the movies’ comment when I attempted to do something wrong or used a wrong item. There were sparkles & although they were not as bright or noticeable as in some games I wish I could switch them off.
All in all this was a really excellent, amazing value for money game.

Having finished the demo which took me to the beginning of Chapter 2 & I have decided that this is a no buy for me. The story did not excite my interest & I really disliked the Tom character, why bother having him in the game as he doesn’t do anything except speak, which is odd as the main character is only in subtitles.
The graphics were crisp & clear & the artists on this game have done a lovely job although the music could use some work. The hidden object scenes had interactive items which was enjoyable & the puzzles were difficult & made me think, normally all this would make a game a buy but the annoyances outweighed the enjoyable parts.
The hint system is pretty useless as it highlights objects that you already know need action of some sort, it recharges very very slowly. You can get extra hints by finding the coins that are scattered throughout the scenes.
The time lag between screens is annoying as is the black screen with the word ‘walking’ at the bottom. In order to use an item from your inventory you have to put it in exactly the right place, I lost count of the times I had to keep trying to use an object before it was finally placed in the scene.
There are no options to change the screen size (it was a window on my widescreen) or difficulty of play although as the game is pretty hard that is not a problem.

A game from Elefun with the usual save a child from a witches curse theme but nicely done. The graphics were a little greenish for my taste & this made some of the hidden objects difficult to find but that is no bad thing. I did not like the use of real actors for the two main characters in the cut scenes but I have always preferred beautifully drawn artwork.
The voiceovers are good & the dialogue is clickable. There are two modes of play, regular with sparkles & a 60 second hint or expert with no sparkles or glints & a 2 minute recharge. There is no map but the game area is quite compact so you won’t need one.
You get a journal & a task list plus through the game you will pick up parts of a child’s drawing, once you have the pieces they will join together & give a short animated sequence of events, I loved these; they were very cleverly done.
This is mainly a hidden object game so there were not many mini puzzles but they were varied & pretty easy; the H0s had some unusual & interesting interactive items within them.
The developer definitely showed a sense of humour; at one point you have to cure a doorknob of its cold. Not one of the best games I have played but it was a competent adventure; you will find you keep many inventory items for quite a long time instead of the usual ‘use immediately’ standard for a H0.

This is a game from Intenium that felt very tongue in cheek in its dramatic style however if you do not like anything paranormal then it will not be for you as it opens with you having to perform an exorcism which no doubt you have guessed from the title.
The graphics & artwork are very good although the animations of the figures, coaches, etc. are a little dated & there is a grainy quality to the scenes which is in keeping with the theme. The hidden object scenes are well drawn & there are interactive items, the mini games are also fun to play & range from easy to “I had to use the skip button” hard. There was a good variety too.
There was a cheat on the widescreen in that either side of the screen is a ‘pillar’ so it is not really widescreen but it makes a change from a black bar. The music is ok & the background sounds are good but I do wish the developer had not added an organ sound every time you accomplish a task or find something useful, it soon becomes annoying. The voiceovers are well done (except for the little girl which is obviously a woman pretending to be a child)
You get a diary in which the story is written as you play & clues are collected. There are three modes, casual with 30 second hint & the H0 scenes have sparkles; expert with a 1 minute hint but no sparkles & a professional with no hints, no skip button & no sparkles. The hint was of the type where you are pointed in the direction to go next, it was fine most of the time but wasn’t very helpful in a couple of places so I had to look at the walkthrough.
This was a good length game with an interesting & surreal episode at the end, I liked it.

This has to be the quietest game I have ever played, there are ambient background sounds & very occasionally some melodic piano music. No voiceovers, no clicking sounds when you find a hidden object. The graphics are nice enough & the artwork atmospheric, you are after all on an island inhabited by plants that might cause your demise.
There are 2 modes of play, Casual with a 60 second hint recharge & sparkles & Expert with 2 minute hint, a pretty quick misclick penalty & also sparkles abounding wherever there is a H0 scene.
The hidden objects are a mix of ‘find 24 items of a similar type’ or the usual word lists, they are well drawn & some items are very well hidden to make them a little more challenging, there are also some interactive objects.
During the demo there were a few mini puzzles & these were pretty easy, perhaps they will get harder further into the game.
This review is on the demo only as I decided not to buy; I got rather bored during my hour’s play.
The reason I recommend? If you want a pretty game without too much challenge then you should try this out, it might be what you are looking for

Another lovely game from Boomzap & there are achievements to collect to add interest. There are no voiceovers except in the cut scenes but the dialogue is clickable & the piano score is not very memorable.
The graphics are clear & the artwork nicely drawn, a lovely hint at how beautiful Tuscany is. There are two modes, casual with a 60 second hint recharge & advances with a 2 min hint and joy of joys no sparkles at all. I advise playing on advanced mode as this is a very easy game, I even managed to complete all the mini puzzles without using the skip button which is very unusual. These are pretty varied & I enjoyed playing them, there were not many hidden object scenes.
You get a journal with the story & clues, a character list & you can replay the cut scenes. There is a task list if you lose track of what you are doing & the hint button is very helpful.
Took me about 3-1/2 hours; I did not rush as the scenes were well worth exploring, the ending was definitely happy & satisfying.

Lost Lagoon 2 from Intenium does not play widescreen & does not have many options however the graphics are crisp & there is some lovely artwork. There are voiceovers & I found if you clicked they still continued but you could carry on searching the scene.
There are 2 modes of play, casual with a 60 second hint, a misclick loop de loop & sparkles or Expert with a 2 minute hint & no sparkles. The hint button will tell you if a location has nothing left to do or where to go next if you are in a scene with an action due.
There are some lovely background sounds & the music suits the game location which is an island where you have been shipwrecked. You have to break a curse & escape before you become a sacrifice for the local islanders.
The H0 scenes are either word lists, with some interesting interactive items or a silhouette search; these were pretty easy but don’t be too sure you have finished the H0; often you have to go back into it to perform an action. The mini games were fun & ranged from very easy to ‘needs a lot of thought’, I enjoyed playing these.
There areas lot of areas to visit but you won’t need a map; the story seems a bit vague & the gameplay is mainly about the H0s & puzzles but I liked the look of this & it is a game with a sense of humour.

I wasn’t very impressed; this is an OK game but is not the best offering I have seen from Gogii games. On the positive side I loved the choices of gameplay; Casual has sparkles, glints & is so easy that you will not need the strategy guide & Advanced has a 90 second hint recharge & no glints but there is a Custom mode which is excellent. You can set how fast/slow you want the hint & skips to recharge, whether you want in game help; basically set it up to your wish. You can change any of the modes within the game without having to restart.
The hidden object scenes have some very well blended items & are not too easy but there are not many mini puzzles to solve & they are very simple. This is not a game that will challenge the brain cells & it is very linear, there is a little backtracking but not enough to need a map.
The voiceovers, ambient sounds & music are good & the graphics are pretty average; you move between the ‘real’ world & a ‘ghost’ world, the ghost world is rather like an overexposed photograph. There are a lot of rooms to explore & Area Cleared will be shown once you have done everything necessary in a room. I did not need to use the built in strategy guide at all.
The bonus game is an entirely different story to the main game & only took me 40 minutes to complete.
If you want an easy game then this is for you but I would not recommend for someone who prefers there H0s with a slice of adventure.

This is a splendid hidden object game from Top Evidence Studio; basically you search for the ingredients to an elixir to save your sister from the influence of an amulet imbued with demonic power.
The graphics are crisp & the artwork excellent; there are no voiceovers but the music is melodic, & there are good ambient sounds; some of them very creepy in a childlike nursery rhyme kind of way. In the cut scenes Mozart’s Requiem is played & it really stirs the hairs on the back of your neck.
The hint recharges at 60 seconds & is useful most of the time although occasionally you just get told to ‘look elsewhere’; there is no map but there are not so many areas that one is required.
There is only one mode of play so expect sparkles for H0 scenes & glints for objects of interest including within the H0s. The hidden objects are well drawn & there are lots of interactive items; not all are required but they do add to the gameplay.
The mini games ranged from extremely easy to a few that I wasn’t sure how to play; a little more guidance would have been welcome, however they were varied . It took me around six hours to complete the main game; I enjoyed finding all the different rooms & trying to solve the puzzles within those rooms.
The bonus game in the Collector’s Edition took me around an hour to complete (you get four new scenes to explore) & although it enhanced the game’s completion it wasn’t necessary. The standard edition ending is satisfactory enough
