Having just finished the game I have to say I was disappointed; this is the sequel to Green Hills Sanitorium but it fell rather short of the first one. I was pleased to see the tentacles were back; they were scary, I think it’s the way they slither about .
As ever the artwork was as lovely as we expect from ERS but the game was not very challenging. There are 6 levels & each is in a different environment, some great imaginative stories but they were all pretty easy in terms of Hidden Object scenes (which have interactive items) & mini games.
In regular mode there are sparkles & in expert sparkles for the H0 scenes only; the hint recharges at 60 seconds for both. There is a misclick penalty which in easy mode is very hard to trigger.
I enjoyed playing but don't expect to have to think a lot in this game but it's a way of wasting a couple of hours on a dull day.

This is an adventure from Subdued Games; the voiceovers are excellent & expect a lot of dialogue that is not skippable as this is more like a mini movie. It is a supernatural thriller & it has photo real graphics which has never been my favourite; I still prefer really good drawn artwork.
This is a first person adventure & unfortunately I found the navigation difficult in spite of having arrows showing left, right & back; at the beginning I only discovered the janitor’s uniform by luck as I had no idea where I was in spite of having a map.
I did not last more than 30 minutes having given up after I wandered around trying to work out what to do.

If you are a Hidden Object lover like me then give this offering from Youda Games a try, it has a lot of excellently crafted ones, many of the items are well hidden & take a bit of searching to find. The music is melodic & the background sounds unobtrusive.
This is the story of Emma who inherits a mansion & has to discover its secrets. The graphics are clear & the artwork excellent, the rooms in this mansion are beautifully rendered, very atmospheric & there are four floors of them so lots to explore. Luckily you are given a map; it is not interactive but it does tell you where there are active tasks, you also get a journal.
In the options menu you can switch off the voiceovers if you wish but they are well done, you can also select widescreen. One downside is that there is only one mode of play & you cannot switch off the sparkles.
Then hint button recharges at 90 seconds, it is ok in the H0 scenes but not very helpful in the main game as it simply circles an active task which in all likelihood you are already aware of (i.e. a lock to be opened).
As well as the H0 scenes there are mini-games, there is no help button on these but they are the usual types so can be figured out. Initially I thought this would be an easy game but it is not as simple as it seems, you can spend quite a lot of time wandering about wondering where to find an item you need to get into the next locked room or solve a puzzle

Another game from Vogat; this is based on the story of 3 witches who were burned at the stake in the past & seem to have turned the townspeople into ghosts or of course it could be the professor who is the reason. Your job is to investigate & bring the people back.
There are 3 modes of play; easy with sparkles & a 30 second hint recharge, advanced, no sparkles & 60 seconds & for those more brave than I an expert mode with no hints, no sparkles & no skip button.
The graphics are excellent as is the artwork, there are no voiceovers & the dialogue is clickable, the music is ok & the background noises are the usual with this type of genre. You get a notebook & if you hover over it a task list plus a hint button that will tell you what you need to do to get further on in the game if you get stuck. In addition you will receive inventory items, some of which need to be combined.
The H0 scenes, of which there are a lot, have some interactive objects; in addition there is the usual type of mini games to solve. There are 5 chapters to play so it is a good length. Good gameplay & mini puzzles & I really liked the story.

This is the third in a series produced by Big Fish Studios & the graphics & artwork are, for the most part excellent but in a few places the brightness of the visuals changed & the screen looked a little like an over-exposed picture. The screens also moved a little left & right to give the impression of 3D however, if like me this made you queasy it can be turned off in the Options menu.
I really liked the voiceover, it was like listening to a fairy tale told by my grandfather & the music was subtle & melodic.
There are two modes of play; casual with sparkles & experienced without. You get an objective list but no hint button, instead if you click on the objective list you will be advised what to do next to achieve it. In addition, a little way into the game, you will receive a book which gives the story & is also interactive although it is not always logical as to what actions to perform so I ended up clicking everything.
The cursor will change a puzzle piece when you come across items of interest which you should remember as you will no doubt need to perform an action later. Some of the puzzles were fun but all in all I found this too much like a child’s story so am not tempted to buy so this review is based on an hour’s demo.
I am only recommending this game as you should give the demo a whirl & if you like it then it will pass a rainy afternoon

This game from Cerasus Media is based on an H.P Lovecraft story; in 1931 an Antarctic expedition team is found dead except for one who is missing. After finding the team you have to travel across the mountains following the trail of the missing member & you find an ancient city in the ice.
This is an adventure with hidden object scenes & relatively easy mini-games (there was a skip button). You are given tasks to complete & these are shown on the bottom of the screen, the hint button which does not need recharge is a little erratic as to its usefulness. Sometimes when I got stuck trying to figure out how to complete a task it would sparkle over an object that helped but just as often I could not understand what the hint was telling me to do.
The task list is more of a ‘do this next’ so more experienced gamers may find this a little too much hand holding. There is a Casual & an Expert mode, the only difference is that the casual has sparkles at areas of interest; you can change mode while ‘in the game’. There are 30 achievements to collect.
There are no voiceovers & the dialogue is clickable, the music is a little like a film score. The graphics are also fine, a little bit grainy on my monitor; you can switch on ‘scrolling’ which I really liked as it took you, visually, closer to the scenes & it made finding some objects easier; some of the items are pretty small & not easy to find.

This is a game from Anuman, MZONStudios & Solilab produced by HdO &. You are given a rundown of how to play it & what the game icons signify at the start. There are two modes of play, untimed & timed & you are given 3 hints, more hints can be collected by clicking on any stars you find in a screen. This is a hidden object heavy game.
The graphics are clear & bright but the objects can be extremely tiny. There are no voiceovers although there is clickable dialogue; however the characters flit in & out of the screen as they ‘speak’. Only the main character is drawn, those he interacts with are just silhouettes which is a pretty odd & rather a cheap way of cutting costs perhaps.
I was looking forward to playing this game due to the title but it isn’t the sort of adventure I had imagined & so many objects are too small so I will not be buying
