Normally I love Elephant Games but this time I'm going to go against the grain of the most of the reviews. I was underwhelmed.
The graphics were grainy although the artwork was well done; when the cut scenes played they whooshed in & out so fast it made me nauseous.
The interactive map is excellent & the hint recharges in 30 seconds & is useful if you get stuck as it lets you know what to do next. I thought the H0 signs were a bit of a junkpile but not too difficult to find objects.
There is no choice of mode to play so expect sparkles & glints for areas of interest.
Sadly not a game for me but as so many people loved it I will recommend as you should try the demo for yourself.
I recommend this game!

This in an Interactive Hidden Object game from Mutant Games; please don’t be put off by the cartoonish graphics, the scenes are clean & sharp & the artwork is simply lovely. There are no voiceovers & the dialogue is skippable but the responses (which come from you as the characters ‘interact’ with you) in parts of the game are hilarious.
A princess is getting ready for her birthday party & she asks you to help but what you do causes all the prettiness to disappear & Skymist turns into a darker, dreary world & it’s your job to put it right. The H0 scenes are well laid out; some things will go into your inventory as you need them for a task.
The hint recharges at around 30 seconds & there is a mis-click penalty but you have to really go some for it to kick in. You get a journal which is very useful as it contains tips on what to do next; indeed sometimes it tells you exactly what to do next. However being partly adventure there will be times when you have to give some thought about what to do; for instance combining inventory items.
This is a beautiful game that won’t tax you too much but does need some thinking about occasionally.
I recommend this game!

If you like straight hidden objects then give this a demo but be warned, the H0 scenes are hard.
The prologue has a voiceover but once the game starts there is just lilting (rather boring) music & dialogue which is clickable if you read quickly. The background graphics are pretty although the characters look dated.
There are 10 puzzles to solve – these are mini games by another name & you also unlock wallpapers as you play. You are given 3 hints to begin & you can find others but if you do not find any more then as far as I can tell there is no automatic recharge. There is a misclick penalty which soon becomes annoying as objects are so very small that you inevitably end up clicking incorrect items. And when I say small I mean miniscule.
There are a lot of things to think about besides actually finding the H0s;
in each scene there are extra hints to find in the form of wands (more than one in most cases)
a fairy that will pick up one of your objects thus removing it from the list
a speed bonus to earn cash for finding an object very quickly after it appears on the list
jewels are scattered through the game & you earn cash for locating these
The money is used to buy upgrades to the castle & like all games of this type there are three varieties to choose which can be changed if you want to.
I recommend this game!

A Hidden Object game from SpecialBit Studios; the graphics are not as crisp as they could be although I really like the artwork; the H0 scenes layout makes it easy to find the objects. Some of the scenes are Fragmented Objects rather than word lists so there is a little variety. The mini games during the demo were easy enough, some the usual pipes, sliders, etc. & a few that I haven’t played before.
You have 24 achievements to earn through the game, some are on the lines of watching all the cut scenes, this is a problem as for some reason they are in cartoon graphics unlike the prettiness of the rest of the game & they take you out of the game mentally.
There is a voiceover in the prologue but once into the game there is only dialogue occasionally; the music is excellent & there are some lovely background sounds but the game seems very quiet, like playing in a hushed library.
The hints recharge in 90 seconds which is a long time but there are clues as to what to do next in the journal &, after the first room, a task list.
There is a lot of backtracking & no map so you will need extra sneakers for this one, there is only one mode of play but at least the sparkles are subtle.
All in all this is no convoluted interactive H0; it is a straightforward H0 with pretty scenes & a definite buy for me, I don’t always want a challenging game.
I recommend this game!

Enigmatis is an Interactive Hidden Object (IH0G) from Artifax Mundi (they also developed Time Mysteries Inheritance). The game has voiceovers of which I am normally a fan but in this case they were not well done, no attempt was made to match them to the mouth of the characters when in shot. The music was average but l liked the background sounds, they suited the spooky atmosphere.
The story is intriguing; you wake up in a town not knowing why you are there & you slowly piece together clues.
The graphics were not very impressive; quite dreary & not as crisp as I like, IMO the artwork was pretty mediocre also. It nicely filled my widescreen & has two modes of play, easy with sparkles & a map showing locations where action required, 30 second hint recharge; expert where only the H0 scenes sparkle & the map does not show where actions required, hint recharge 1 minute
The map is not interactive so you will have to walk around the town a lot. There is a journal in which the map, notes & a list of objectives are given. The H0 scenes are often junkpiles & there is a horrible ‘boom’ noise when you click on an object; in addition some of the items can be extremely small & difficult to find. The mini games are unusual & enjoyable.
This is a very long gameplay - it took me about 6 hours & I highly enjoyed the story & it left room for a sequel.
I recommend this game!

This is a visually beautiful game; the graphics are very clear & sharp & the scenes full of interesting details that suit the setting, kudos to the artists on this one. There are a lot of areas to explore in the town & each is worth a pause simply to look at the scenery.
The story is engaging; after a car crash you wake up in Resurrection with no idea of how you got there or why but you need to find a way to escape. There are characters to meet, some friendly, some sinister & a very large green snake slithering about the place. Where ever you go there are warning signs & the sheriff keeps popping up & threatening you; it’s all very spooky.
I was disappointed that there are no voiceovers however the music is excellent & very much in keeping with the setting. There is only one mode of play & you cannot switch off the sparkles, one rather annoying point, after you have examined an item of interest & no longer need to revisit it the sparkles continue to twinkle at its location.
You get a journal with a task list & story, the hint button recharges at 30 seconds & is very helpful; if you get stuck it will tell you what/where to go next. The hidden object scenes are well drawn & many items are blended so as to make them hard to find. One word of WARNING: in a relatively early scene in the basement of a house a very large spider drops down onto the screen, it certainly made me jump. There are several other ‘scares’ of this type & plenty of bugs crawling around the H0 scenes.
There are the usual types of mini puzzles to play plus some that required logic to solve, these were fun. In addition some inventory items that you collect will need to be combined but the game does not tell you which ones; you need to figure that out for yourself.
I recommend this game!

This offering from Blam Games has an excellent story; I am always a sucker for tales about keepers of secrets through the ages. In this game you are an orphan when you are given a photo of your parents with the name of a town on the reverse; obviously you go off to the town but when you arrive it is all very mysterious & spooky; there are even a few scary moments.
The graphics are very clear & although the artwork is rather dark visually it is very well drawn & the scenes suit the theme. There are voiceovers which were well done & one of the characters, a small boy, is very sinister. The music was very subtle as were the background sounds.
There are 3 modes of play, casual with a quick 35 second hint & sparkles, advanced with a 2 minute hint recharge & no sparkles & for the hardcore gamer a level with no hints, no sparkles & no skip button. You get a journal which is well configured; this gives you clues & the story as you play.
The H0 scenes were not too difficult & some of the items required an extra action, such as opening a drawer, in order to find them. The mini games were fun & some of them were new to me & I had to think hard to solve them.
My only reservation is the length, I played the demo which was around 45 minutes & reached ½ way into Chapter 2. There are only 4 chapters so looks like it will take about 2 hours for me to play. I shall however recommend, as if you like a good story, you should try out this game.
I recommend this game!

The only thing I enjoyed about this game was the prologue which gave some interesting snippets of history about the gardens.
The music suited the subject of the game but wasn't my cup of tea. There is only one mode of gameplay so sparkles abound & it does play widescreen.
The graphics were ok but the artwork was blurry & not always well drawn, it was often difficult to make out an item. There was nothing clear or easily seen & sometimes there was more than one item of the same type in a hidden object scene. For instance, why were there 3 necklaces when only one was required? There was no hint button.
You earn points as you locate objects but if you click on an incorrect item 3 times you will lose 10 points.
After playing for an hour & finding H0 scenes that were just junkpiles I lost the will to want to play any longer.
I don't recommend this game.

This is a Fractured Object game from Maximize Games; normally I would buy as FR0Gs are not easily come by. You are given a journal which tells the story so far; the music is ok but someone went overboard on the background noises. I know the game starts in the jungle but it really is too noisy.
It is widescreen, there is no voiceover except for the narration which is Tom as an adult recalling what happened when he was a child; the dialogue can be clicked through. I found the cursor clunky & rather draggy.
The graphics are crisp but very dreary & the artwork was rather lovely hand drawn scenes however the objects are so well blended that you will need the hint button; luckily it recharges within 10 seconds! The scenes are scrollable & be warned some of the items are found at the very bottom of the screen.
The inventory was used by clicking a bag on the right & you have to remember to close it to go back to the FR0G objects; not very smooth in operation & altogether too large.
The screens are very dark & many of the objects too difficult for me to find so I did not purchase after playing the hour demo.
I don't recommend this game.

Them The Summoning is the 1st of a planned trilogy from Gamatic & AV Technology; I played the full hour demo & it was all H0 scenes & there was a mini-game of spot the difference.
The graphics were very crisp & bright; the artwork a little too colourful for my taste (sort of like a TV that has the colour turned up too high). The music changed depending on what scene you were in & suited the game.
There are an easy & standard mode of gameplay & you can also choose to play as male or female; I tried both & found no difference at all so it is just cosmetic. The game plays as widescreen, the hint recharges very quickly.
There is no voiceover & you can click through or skip the dialogue if you wish. After the second H0 scene you will get an inventory & a map (not interactive). There is a misclick penalty but you have to click very fast for it to come into play. You should click around the scene as items such as drawers, cushions will move to reveal hidden objects.
Some of the items are very small but as the graphic are so clear I was able to find all the objects. In each scene; there are 10 bonus items to collect to unlock the ‘extras’ & you are then able to replay unlocked H0 or mini games.
I did not buy as I prefer more adventure in my hidden object games but if you love your H0’s then this is a good one to play.
I recommend this game!
