This would have been a very enjoyable game to play except there is far too much running around. You cannot go to a location directly from the map so you backtrack and backtrack and backtrack. After a while it's gets very tedious.
I have no idea how this game received such a high rating. The HOS were cluttered and the hint button slow so too much time wasted. The hint button during the game simply said there is nothing to do here.......duh If there was a story line I forgot what it was. Had to turn the music off which is something I seldom do. Made it half way through the game and had to give up.

Although, as mentioned, there was a fair amount of back and forth, it helped me remember the lay of the land. A map would have been helpful but would have decreased the challenge. I really enjoyed the HOS as you put things in the scene vs. looking for objects (which I am quite sick of) The puzzles were for the most part not too difficult but that was OK with me. I'm a little tired of move this and five others move which makes little sense to me.
Rescue a young girl from the Penumbra Motel. Solve puzzles, unravel a long standing mystery of death and disappearances in this heart-pounding adventure game!

This was a really good game, but I got very tired of needing a hint and all I got was "there's nothing to do here". Obviously I knew that or wouldn't have asked for a hint! Extremely disappointed. Will recommend because not everyone requires hints I guess.

I don't do a lot of reviews but really enjoyed this game. As good as Grim Façade - Mystery of Venice. The game may not be enough of a challenge for hard core expert players, but it was a pleasure to not have to skip puzzles and get cross eyed looking for HOS items. The game play was logical and you didn't have to run around like a fool from place to place. I've read reviews about the abrupt ending but the end made sense to me and closed the story - see no need for the CE. Need to be a little careful using hints as they are not automatically replaced You must find fans in order to obtain additional hints. Not really a problem since the game made sense. Someone made a critical comment about some of the HOS filling images was for children but I found them interesting because you had to find the items and then use them. Think I'll try the 3rd Grim Façade even though the reviews weren't that great. To each his own!

An overall great game. The HOS and mini games were very enjoyable (not too many HOS which I appreciate). The little helper was terrif. There is no walkthrough but don't fear, you can get one off the internet. Besides you don't need it very often. The hint system if good. Definitely one I will play again.

It must be me, as there are so many good reviews, but I did not enjoy this game. There was no guidance. The HOSs were dark and not easy. The hint does not automatically discharge. You must find mirrors to replace a hint and there are only two in each HOS, so I spent too much time on them, getting cross-eyed trying to find 3 corsets and an artificial limb. You need to be a brain surgeon to figure out the puzzles and even the walkthrough was of little help. Unfortunately, I purchased this game without trying because the reviews were good. I also purchased Echoes of the Past: Curse of the Witch - sure hope it is better.

I have over 100 HOG/Adventure games and this was one of the very best! Although the map is not morphing, it is a great help. There is no walkthrough but you don't need it. Between the map and the hints, you can't go wrong. The story line offers nothing much new but is OK. The HOSs are great - no grey stuff you can't possibly see. Don't miss this one!

This is my first negative review. I wish when I'd read the reviews someone had mentioned that this was a HOS after HOS game. I would not have purchased it. It is boring. If you love HOS, buy it. If you like adventure, don't.
