I had high hopes for this one, & it didn't disappoint. I love several things about this game: 1# You can set the hint & skip buttons to whatever amount of time you choose. The lowest is 15 seconds. That can be handy if someone wants to hustle through a game #reason for doing so? hmmm...) 2) You have little helpers all through the game, & they actually work within the story line very well. 3) The music was not annoying; as they sometimes can be in these games, the voice overs are very good, & the FX stand up as well. I found this game quite easy to play. There's a little back & forth, but not much,& you never play the same HO twice. that's a big plus for me. 4) The best part: This also has an alternate game if you don't want to go thru the HO's. You can switch to a jigsaw puzzle instead. Warning: The puzzles are very simple. So if you're looking for a challenge, these aren't it! I like having those alternate games so that you can play the game again, & still have a different angle to play. As it stands, I'd say I really enjoyed this one. As I said, not terrifically difficult, but a pleasant way to pass the afternoon. I played this game in about 2 1/2 hours straight, so it's not a long, drawn out game. I would definitely recommend this one.
I hoped that this would be a challenging game. I enjoyed the other two in the Maestro series, so I didn't hesitate to buy it. I expected so much more from the CE. I can't afford them very often, so I always look forward to a good one. This wasn't one of them. There was very little challenge to either the HOS or the mini-games. It just didn't stand up. Perhaps if you're just joining the Big Fish Groupies that thrive on these games, this one would be a good one to cut your teeth on. Otherwise, if you have any experience, I'd shy away from this one.
I wasn't expecting much from this little gem, but I ended up really liking it! I played it straight through in about 3 hours; so not a long game, nor was it so impossible to solve it took all the enjoyment out of it. The story line is a bit shaky, but I found the hidden object scenes to be surprisingly difficult at times. They are very sneaky, hiding things where you'd never think to look. I think what I liked the best was the Music, which is a surprise for me, because sometimes music in games can be downright annoying. Think "'50's Detective" with the music. The game is set in New Orleans, but none of it is familiar. This is a great rainy day game, with a bit of challenge thrown in. I have over 300 games, & I think I'll keep this one around for awhile. It definitely has re-play value, as long as it isn't too often. I didn't see any map, but then I really didn't need it. It flows well; there is a bit of back & forth, but not as much as other games I've played recently. Yes, give this one a try!
I didn't know what to expect when I got this, but I was pleasantly surprised, as I wanted something that didn't wear me out today. This is a relatively simple game to play, & it did take me half the day to play. It's typical of most HOS games. I was hoping for more challenge. This would be a good game for beginners to cut their teeth on. For anyone who's played more than 4 or 5 HOS, I'd suggest you steer away from this one, based on how easy it is. The hint system is excellent, & recharges almost as fast as you use it. The storyline.... it's ok, but the characters are not believable. A good number of the characters are downright rude & nasty to you! No, you're the detective, & they aren't going to give you any clues that you can't find on your own. Other than how simple this was, that would be the one thing would keep me from playing this game again. If you're bored one rainy day & want to play a HOS that doesn't tax your brain, then play this one. Overall, I'd just say 'good. not great, just good'. So there you go.
Wow, am I glad I only paid $2.99! Its a convoluted, confusing game that just never ends! I consider myself a 'pro' at HOG's #I have over 300 on my computer#, & this is by far one of the worst games that BF has ever put out there. I tried to not be judgmental - give it a chance... after 30 minutes of endless dialogue, horrendous mini-games & confusing HO's, I finally gave up. I even went so far as to remove it from my collection! Don't waste your money on this one folks. Hold off, because it would take some heavy work to buy another game that's as bad as this one is. If you only read one word in this review, this is the word you should read: DON'T!!
