My bad! I guess I didn't look close enough, but this IS NOT AN HOG. Nonetheless, a very enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.
I found the background music to be very monotonous & at times, downright annoying. There are no Voice Overs in this game, so listening to the same loupe of music over & over really got on my nerves.
The other annoying this is the dialogue. Now, I don't mind no VO's, but there was too much time given for the characters to say their lines... I started getting impatient & hitting the skip button (it didn't matter, it still took way too long to get past the dialogue.#.So unless you read at a snail's pace, you may find the same frustration.
With that said, I will go on to say that the graphics in this game were very good. The scenes were well defined. There's quite a bit of jumping back & forth between scenes; there's a map if you need help #I didn't).
The Mini-Games weren't all that challenging, though there were one or two I just skipped.
For those just starting out on adventure games or are new to HOG's, this is a great one to start with. The story line is a bit convoluted, but very enjoyable. As far as replay value, maybe once a year. I will recommend this game, but to novices.
I recommend this game!

The Midnight Mystery Series has got to be my favorite. I've played them all, & unlike some game series, they continue to improve! This game has it all, with a few bonuses thrown in. The gameplay is exciting & at times tense; as with the others in this series, time travel is essential in the game. This time we travel through books. If you love American Classic literature, you'll love this game!
There are various kinds of Hidden Object puzzles; most have been used before. But the entire game involves interactive play, whether it's talking to characters, or finding items with which to move on. Our old friend the Crow [Raven] is back to help us along.
There are also collectables, which gives a bit of added challenge to the game.
Just enjoy this latest installment in this series. It's a lot of fun, & keeps one curious to the end. When I finished, I was wishing it could have gone on longer!
I recommend this game!

This one was a bit of a surprise; I didn't expect much, but it ended up being a lot of fun! The story line is well thought out & logical. The voice-overs were well done, & the ghosts were really believable. I enjoyed helping them out,
The graphics are good. They can be a bit fuzzy at times, but it didn't slow the game-play at all. Most of the scenes are interactive, including the HO scenes.
There's the added plus in this game of Morphs. Granted, I didn't find them all the first time through. Some can be very subtle, so you may have to stare at the scene for quite a while if you're looking to find all 50 of them.
The mini-games were fun & varied. None of them were very hard to figure out. They also followed the gameplay well.
As far as re-play value, I'd say it's high [because of the morphs to find]. I'm glad I got this one, & will keep it in my collection.
I recommend this game!

I've not been a real fan of the Puppet Show games. This one seems to be the final one in the series. I liked it, but will not give it a 'Rave' review. It could have been so much better!
The hint/ skip charges well [in the easy mode]. No problem there.
The mini-games were somewhat challenging. Some new, most were just the same old thing.
The graphics were just ok. They weren't so bad that I couldn't see what I was doing, but I think they should have been a little clearer, sharper. To the point that it was almost 'cartoonish'. The Characters were just awful as well, especially in the last scene of the game.
The voice-overs were terrible. I hated them. I'm pretty sure they had one woman doing all of the different characters. Along with that, the music was tolerable, as well as the sound effects.
Hidden Object Scenes: There were a lot of names for items that I didn't recognize, & was surprised when I found out what they meant. The graphics did make it a bit hard to find certain things.
I'm not sure about re-play value on this one. I guess if you have the whole 'Puppet Show' series, this is one you'd want to keep. If not, I'd say put it on the shelf & Let it collect some dust before you play it again. So I will recommend this game, but only tentatively so.
I recommend this game!

I very rarely give a game a 5* rating across the board; this is the exception. What an amazing game! It takes the story line from each of the other 'Grim Tales' games, then puts a bow on it all! Fantastic imagination by the developers.
I can't say anything bad about this game. It took me quite a long time to play, but I enjoyed every minute of it.
There are 3 levels of game-play challenge, on easy mode the hint/skip charges in about 30 seconds.
There is a jump-map, & believe me, you'll need it. Although you are in just one house [ok, an estate], there are a lot of rooms & a lot of jumping back & forth. I sometimes find that irritating, but the flow of the game was so good that I didn't mind.
The graphics are superb. Everything is clear & well defined.
I did have a bit of a problem with the program in general. It is a very large file, & it would sometimes take 5-15 seconds for the next scene to load.
There are a variety of HO scenes, each one is distinctly different. You will NOT play the same scene more than once.
Elephant Developers have a keen mind when it comes to mini-games. They were all interactive & took some thinking to get through. But they were so nice compared to the stale mini's found in other games. Don't give up on them!
The game is a bit 'dark'. Dealing with the mental health of an unstable 'brother'.
Re-play value on this game would be very high. Since it is the last of the 'Grim Tales' series, you'd have plenty of time to go back & play all of the others [which you should definitely do] & then come back to this one.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS GAME.

This was a surprise! I didn't expect much from it, but this turned out to be a fun & exciting game!
The entire game is interactive, so the phrases you choose will select what comes next. You can lie, tell the truth, remain silent- all with different outcomes.
The story line is top-notch. I hate spoilers, so I won't give it away... But you find yourself doing things you never thought possible. You have a history you knew nothing about! How can that NOT be fun?! It does run along the same line as most of these games: defeat Ultimate Evil & save Earth. But it is portrayed very well. The characters are for the most part believable, except I did get tired of the snotty way some of them spoke. Very uppity. But that's minor in comparison to the rest of the game.
The graphics could have been sharper. It wasn't hard to see things, but there were some blurry spots in different scenes.
The music was very characteristic of this Genre. Creepy in parts, suspenseful in others. I eventually had to turn it down because my ears just did not like it. I saw a blog or two on this game, & people were asking for the song that plays on the main menu. Sorry, don't have an answer on that one; hated that music!
This is not the typical HO game. There are variations in all of them [shadow shapes, put the item back & interactive finds]. This was very refreshing from the usual. I never knew what was coming next.
Mini-Games were a lot of fun. They too, are varied; not incredibly difficult [although I did skip a couple of them]. Some seen in other games, some new ideas as well.
The hint/skip is 30 seconds in easy mode, 90 seconds in challenge, & unavailable for those who want to give themselves a migraine.
I did get stuck once or twice; be sure to move the cursor around every inch of the room, because there may be some incredibly small object you need in order to advance.
There is time travel involved, & that was portrayed very well.
Re-Play Value is very high, due to the fact that you can decide what the character will say, leading you to different situations each time. I Loved this game, & I am glad to count this among one of my favorites.
I recommend this game!

This game is exactly what it says it is: Hidden Objects. After having played 300 or so HOS games, this one is a huge disappointment. I've found that most of the scenes are from other games that I have played. Some are so familiar, I didn't have to look very hard to find what I needed.
If all you're looking for is hidden objects, then I guess this is a game for you. If you want any sort of a challenge, Look elsewhere. It's nothing more than a conglomerate of junked up scenes.
I don't recommend this game.

I'm a bit dismayed with some of the low stars on this game. I really enjoyed it. Granted, it was kind of slow at first; the graphics could have been much better, but overall, it was a nice game to play.
Graphics are ok, but could have been much better.
There are only two levels of challenge.
The hint/ skip recharges quickly [in the easy mode].
Mini-Games are varied & pretty easy.
if you're wandering around & don't know what to do & you hit the 'hint' button, it'll only tell you where you're supposed to be. The game does not hold your hand & point out every little detail.
The Voice-Overs are excellent, & very believable.
I liked the idea in trusting an enemy, & then have them NOT betray you later on. Together, you battle the force that is destroying both of your kingdoms.
The fact that this is a 'pre-quell' to the others in the 'Awakening' series may be why the developers didn't spend a great deal of time on the details. Whenever you try to go backwards with a story & not ahead, it will have a great deal of limitations like you see in this game.
I would say that this has a minimal re-play value. Although I enjoyed it, it really wasn't much of a challenge. I don't know if you could play it more than once a year without memorizing the whole game. Overall, I would recommend this game, & if you're looking for an easy game experience, this would be the one to get.
I recommend this game!

Some games have a slow start, so I was willing to give this one a try. The further I went, the more irritating it became! There is so much dialogue that the game itself can't keep up with it. The characters are really bad, too. Vida speaks in a monotone voice, & the little ferret helper has the most grating voice I've ever heard in one of these games. He's also got way too much attitude. The background music & sound effects we equally annoying. Maybe I could have survived this game if I'd turned off the music, dialogue & FX, but what fun is that?
I was halfway through the game, & still didn't know what I was ultimately looking for.
In the Settings, you can choose how light or dark you want the scene to be; notwithstanding, the graphics are so poor that you could look all day & still not see what you need.
The only plus to this game is how fast the hint button re-charged.
This game has set an all-time low on my list of games [I have over 300 games from Big Fish]. Don't waste your time & money on this one. It's just disappointing all the way around.
I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GAME

I'm not into time management games, but after playing this one, all the others pale in comparison!
The story line is really quite mundane; a king leads his people to a new area to settle after being forced out by the bad guys. It's not the story line that is pertinent, though. There are plenty of jobs to get done. This game has more of a seek & find genre to it. You have to forage for food, wood, etc; build homes & other buildings.
I play this game often. It's great entertainment, & I would highly recommend this game!
