Although I purchased this game in 2012, I don;t believe I ever played it. This takes me back to when Elephant put out great long games with substance. It took me about 7 hours to complete the game in casual. There is a witch/demon involved, so if that's not your thing you may want to skip this. HOS and puzzles were good. You do get a map in this game, which you did not in the earlier ones. The hint will give you a vague nudge about where in the game you may find what you are looking for. If you haven't played this yet, or the early versions of the Grim Tales, definitely try them.
This has never been a series I liked. However, this game isn't too bad. I didn't notice excess talking and clicking through dialogue. Maybe I'm just used to it. I only played the demo. Kind of up in the air if I'll buy it or not. HOS were Nice. Puzzles were a bit challenging but they always are for me. Plot seemed ok. I'm going to wait on this purchase to see if anything better comes along.
Others have given a very good run down of the story, so I'll skip that part. Everything about this game was mediocre. The puzzles, the HOS, the story, the graphics, the game play. The bee hint button didn't bother me. Dana's partner, Mal, bothered me. He was basically useless to Dana during the entire investigation plus the bonus chapter. Elephant once again gave us a short game with a very short bonus chapter. I'd opt for the SE as there are no morphs in the CE. Just 13 or so pieces of paper and puzzle pieces. C'mon Elephant. You can do better than this.
The first game of this series was quite mediocre. I thought this one had to be better. Instead it was an epic failure. I honestly don't remember what the game was about and I just finished it. I have no clue what SHRINE is or why the 3 detectives are friends with SHRINE now. A lot of to and fro for absolutely no reason, since there was zero game behind all of it Another Elephant huge disappointment. Also, I'll mention, this game was way too short. I mean, it was so bad, I'm glad it was short, but had it been decent, it's a disgrace to pump this game out and call it a game.
I love this series and love Grandma games, and somehow I never played this game. Was just sitting in my inventory. First, I would have probably left Laura under the shelves. Her voice was like nails on a chalkboard. I was done with her the 2nd time she got into a mess. Otherwise, the game is a little different. Different story than we usually see. Lots of to and fro to many places to collect objects. The mini games, for me, were difficult. The HOS were a very nice variety. I'd stay away from Acorn Hospital. I wouldn't want a nurse like the one in this game. I highly recommend it. Love showing Grandma some love.
I think I have the first game in this series, and I never finished playing it because I didn't care for it. I read the reviews for this game hoping there was something out there that would be fun to play. I'm so glad I tried it. I absolutely loved this game. Yes it was very easy, but that's ok. It was relaxing and peaceful, something we all could use more of. Everything about it was just fun. I was able to complete almost all of the puzzles (yay me lol) and I loved the HOS. I'm guessing this was a Christmas game, so reviewers who are complaining it's too easy need to realize that the seasonal games are always easy and laid back. There are plenty of mind bending games out there if that is what you're seeking. I highly recommend this game.
I saw another reviewer say it also. I am stuck at the all seeing eye. Yep, it took me right back from my CE profile right to the all seeing eye which obviously doesn't see anything. I'm really disappointed in this developer as they have put out some magnificent games in the past. Games like this, witch glitches, are not worth the effort to me to "fix" them. I'm passing just as I did with the CE.
I had beta tested this game a while ago and loved it. It doesn't appear that they fixed many things that were suggested. The strategy guide is still misnumbered as far as collectibles go. I did not check it for regular game play. You have a great detective story with lots of twists and turns. In typical Domini fashion, there is a custom mode to customize your game. Very good HOS and puzzles that are not going to make you scream, but can be accomplished with a little brain power. (I even did most of them, and I truly stink at puzzles). I'm really looking forward to this series. Seems all the series out there are sci fi or fantasy, which are not my cup of tea. It's a fairly long game with a great bonus chapter. If I had my choice between the CE and SE for this one, I'd definitely go for the CE just for the bonus game. As always, give it a try in the demo.
Step into the shoes of a Private investigator with short-term memory loss and uncover the shocking truth about his involvement with a serial killer called The Executioner.
I don't think I played the demo of this game. Simply bought it. Bad move. This took me 3 tries to finally finish, and I still haven't played the bonus chapter. I see it gets great reviews, which is why it's so important to demo, as we all have different tastes in games. I'm not sure what it is about this series (the other game in this series was the same for me). It seems to drag on and on going nowhere. This one must have had a gazillion HOS. One after another after another, followed by a mini game. Collectibles were very easy to find. I think Brave Giant had good idea with the story, but it fell flat in my eyes. I suppose I'd recommend the game, but strongly encourage one to demo the game and not be a numbskull like moi :)
It's about time someone gave an honest review of the revered Elephant games. They seem to be put on a pedestal because they made the MCF series. I have never cared for their games with the exception of Grim Tales. I feel they are consistently short games with very short bonus chapters. That leads us to this mess of a game. Looks like someone threw a bunch of ideas into a pot, mixed it up and said lets try to make an assembly line game out of it, plus lets throw in a 15 minute bonus chapter while we are at it. I, for one, expect more from games than what Elephant has been offering. I was able to do every mini game, which is not a good thing because I'm awful at them. There were only a scattering of them and not too many HOS. They resorted to the little mini HOS which, to me, are just time fillers. This could have been such a good series, but with the exception of the first one, they have all fallen flat with this one being the worst. I've been home during this COVID pandemic and have been playing older games and what a difference. No, they don't have all the bells and whistles, but you could sit down and expect a good, long, interesting game. Even though I'm craving a new game, I refuse to support a developer who throws together a mess and reaps the profit. (stepping off my soapbox now) :)
