...and around! Yep, all around and back! But the map was awesome. I played the CE version and though it had very clever tasks to complete, it also had some elementary ones as well. For instance, lighting the candle!! Take the match out of the matchbox, then light the match, and finally, light the candle. I guess because the game wasn't very long these extra steps added some time to the game.
The artwork was a bit different for Elephant Games, one of my fav developers, but I'm not knocking the work that went into this game. This game had many good aspects about it but, in my opinion, it does not warrant a 5-star, much less a 4. I'm getting picky here but I caught one grammatical error or typo, if you will, the word should have been gave not game. Play the game, perhaps you'll notice that, too.
I wish devs could use other methods of defeating the villain for future games. This one is old and tiresome and silly.
I completed all the cards, all the chimeras, but not the achievements and in order to complete all of the achievements, entitled, I can do it myself--Complete Secret Room without using hints, well, I didn't play the mini-games and or HOS offered in the Secret Room. Unless I missed it, there was no mention of the 27 morphing objects upon finishing the bonus game, and I'm not sure if I got them all. Those were fun if you remembered to find them.
Music was good, sound effects good; voiceovers good. By all means, try the game out. You might really like it!
I recommend this game!

Stunning scenes, great voiceovers, crisp and clear graphics, which Elephant Games is well noted for. I played both the CE and just finished this SE version, which was short and sweet. However, I'm rating this game a 4-star due to a quirky gameplay.
Lots to do in this game. There were tedious but clever puzzles/mini games; wonderful HOS. visually stunning scenes, and who doesn't like cozy fire places, Christmas trees with beautiful ornaments. Kudos to the devs for a great job but this game didn't wow me. I still recommend this game.
I'd love to play a HOG game based on Dickens' Christmas Carol--in other words, keep true to the storyline with its charm and cozy scenes, human interest, redemption, using all the characters minus the silly trolls and characters that don't belong in the story.

Either I'm getting better at this or the games these days seem to be getting shorter and shorter, or perhaps there was so much to do I forgot the time. In either case, the Off the Record series by EIPIX never disappoints. I completed all the morphing objects and the collectibles but didn't achieve all the "achievements" as I skipped a puzzle or two. The collectibles were teapots which you could easily miss when you become engrossed in the game. I found the last ten after I completed the bonus game. The puzzles weren't hard but tedious. The HOPs were good but typical for EIPIX. I collected all the souvenirs but you must do so after you complete the bonus game. I bought the CE version at a great discount, thanks to Big Fish.
The game play is what interests me most; storyline, crisp graphics and those were okay but not the best I've seen. You will be all over the place and some items in your inventory will stay put for a bit. You have plus objects and can tend to forget about them if you're searching for 10 other objects and stationing them where they belong. The devs deserve a lot of credit for all the work they put into this game. I really enjoyed the video tribute to all of the Off the Record games. That was cool. Voiceovers were wonderful. EIPIX is well-known for its intro spectacles, wonderful artwork, good music. However, it lacked the flow that I desire in a good game. I'm giving this game a 4-star, and I do encourage you to try it out.
I recommend this game!

I completed the CE version including the Secret Room which had awesome quests to complete. However, this game was not a long game at all. The concept was ingenious and Elephant Games never fails in that area. For the variety of tasks, puzzles/mini games, this game warrants a 5 star but unlike the previous Elephant Game I played, the graphics were a bit fuzzy and many of the objects were very small to even decipher what they were at times. Now that is a challenge in and of itself and really not a big deal but I was a bit disappointed in the quality. The Main Game was actually pretty cool; the Bonus Game was cartoonish in its art and run of the mill storyline, dismal and elementary. Some junk pile HOS like back in the day of older games. I didn't care for the Bonus Game portion and was glad when it was over. Got all the morphing objects; completed most of the achievements, pretty much the norm for me. The Bonus Game was a bit freaky even though I understood its concept. But the game only gets a 4-star rating. The ending was abrupt as usual. One would think that with all the work that was put in to this game, that a little more time would have been given to a solid ending, regardless if there is a sequel or not. Voiceovers were excellent; music was okay. Variety of tasks were fantastic, though. Many were very challenging. Again, I thoroughly enjoyed the Secret Room. It added some zip to the game. But Grim Tales:Threads of Destiny CE version does not warrant a 5-star rating, in my opinion. I do recommend it though as I am a big fan of Elephant Games.
I recommend this game!

Anabel's destiny is to go to Midnight Castle, find her father's hiding places, restore justice, and return magic to the world. This is quite a journey and quite a responsibility on her part.
The word of the day is STUNNING! Stunning artwork; Stunning scenery with mansions, loads of ornate objects, cool, crisp graphics, awesome music and sounds; voiceovers were excellent. I mean Elephant devs are about the best there is out there; no holds barred! Sure, there were some minor inconsistencies that can be overlooked but your journey will be an exciting one. You have a bat friend to help you in the Main Game and a beautiful bird friend to help you in the Bonus Game. I preferred the bird. Of course you need to sustain both of them to get them to help you by finding strength for the bat and/or food for the bird. In either case this game has it all. Fragments, elements, amulets, great HOS, not unusual ones but the objects were intricate and fabulous. I saw a few freshwater pearls (one of my fav gems# and other intricate objects. Very impressed with the workmanship!
You'll solve a series of puzzles; locate hundreds of objects and there will be some items that will remain in your inventory for a long period. The map was great, and depending upon the level you choose the tasks can be somewhat difficult and challenging and somewhat easy as well. Visually speaking the scenery was quite beautiful--so pleasing to my eye that based on that only, I give this awesome game a 5-star. Absolutely beautiful and Elephant Games always delivers in that area. The music was lovely especially when playing the HOS, I love to put on my headphones and enjoy the sounds that devs offer us! The sound effects were great too. Birds chirping, ocean waves crashing against the rocks; and in some scenes the trees had orange-red leaves, gold-yellow leaves signifying, obviously, the fall season. Gorgeous! It's refreshing for a change to see artwork that isn't dingy or gloomy or depressing! There were some underwater scenes which were quite beautiful as well. But I prefer, mansions, the property around the homes, cobblestones in the town square; the townspeople. I felt like I was right there! Just beautiful! The gameplay was very much to my taste, too. I got all the leadlights #stained glass pieces), all but one morphing object; and most of the achievements. The mini-games were truly fun and exciting to complete. I completed all but two. Such is the nature of the beast or dragon, that is! Wow! For a while there I thought Elephant Games was losing their touch but not so, folks! Very innovative, clever game. The amount of work that went into this game is phenomenal! As usual, though, the ending is abrupt, but no matter! Good storyline, nonetheless! Bravo to everyone who was involved in creating this game. I checked out the credits and I encourage you to do the same. Gives you an appreciation of what the devs do!
Well-organized, great hint button if you needed it. This game, as you can tell, really did it for me! I highly recommend it! You might find that this game will do it for you, too!
I recommend this game!

I played the entire SE version. The storyline in most games are basically the same--different characters--different circumstances--murder, mayhem, good vs. evil, you name it. I'm more interested mainly in gameplay, strategy, a task that has a rhyme to its reason. Graphics, music, puzzles, mini-games, HOS matter to me in a game. If they're the same thing over and over again, it can become boring. Myths of the World: The Whispering Marsh for the better part was innovative and intelligently thought out--organized, strategically sound but toward the end it petered out somewhat. I'm a bit tired of the runes and connecting the dots so to speak. The mini-games were phenomenal, though, the HOS were fun and a nice variety of them--there were more mini games than HOS. You can opt for the Mahjong if you don't want to play the HOS. Some tasks required three or four objects to complete them. That's okay as it's part of the strategy, and I'm used to playing games whereby you're all over the place, but this game came with a great map and hint button if you needed it. Very rarely do I use the hint button unless there is nothing showing on the map that there is a task that needs to be completed. The EIPIX devs did an awesome job, nonetheless. I'm impressed with all their hard work. Big Fish doesn't supply us with 1/2 points but I'm giving this game 4-1/2 stars anyway. Yes, I recommend this game. Try the SE version; don't know what the CE version offers.
I recommend this game!

Too many missing pieces to accomplish a task, which in and of itself is a good thing but annoying at times. Way too much dialogue which I often skipped; mini games were excellent except for those that had long drawn out dialogue; puzzles were great. I found all the character figurines and found all the owls that was cool. The variety of HOS was wonderful but the graphics were mezza mezza. I completed the main game CE version and am now playing the bonus game. The devs put a lot of thought into this game and I commend them for it, and I really love the fact there was much to do but something was lacking in my opinion. Again the graphics were okay nothing to write home about. I'm just a little weary of rocks and stones, to be honest. The storyline is like most other games, good vs. evil. That's okay because tomorrow I won't remember what it was all about anyway. I've played so many games that I can't remember one from the other, but I'm more interested in logic, a rhyme to its reason, game-flow, scenery, intelligent mini games and puzzles. One of my favorite mini games was the maze. Music was good. This game had a lot of variety. I give it a 3 1/2 stars. I don't think it warrants a 5-star. Sorry. Obviously, I'm in the minority but I feel it's a matter of taste. To each his/her own! Yes, I recommend this game because you may love it. As for me, it was ok.

There was a long lag in between scenes and some minor quirks here n' there in the SE version I just completed. But once I persevered, the game flowed seemingly well. I agree with one of the reviewers that oftentimes I find SE's are somewhat better than CE's although the devs are catching on and I'm seeing improvements in CE versions these days. With CE's there are collectibles, morphing objects, etc. but I don't need wallpaper, or to download music from their soundtrack, although I have done so if a certain piece sounded pretty good.
This game and the storyline was pretty good. I really liked the variety of HOS the devs offered; sometimes the same scenes were used for them but I liked it nonetheless. I enjoyed making the potions plus the arrows of light task, which was pretty cool. The only thing that didn't follow suit was that some tasks were out of sequence as far as places were concerned, for e.g., mind you, you're locked up in prison but the item that's needed, among others, is literally outside and I was able to retrieve the item from the outside to free myself. Go figure! However, the voiceovers were great; the music was good; the artwork was rather cartoonish but very good, and the mini-games were wonderful. I'm giving this game a 4-star and I recommend the SE version for sure.
I recommend this game!

I bought the CE version of Nevertales: Legends, and I'm one-quarter into the game and even though this review is based on a game I haven't finished yet, I felt the need to report to you this very moment that it is the best game I have ever played thus far! I'm sure I will not be disappointed with the rest of it either! Wow-oh-wow! I purchased this game at a great discount from Big Fish. The thing is I was going to take a breather from them and give it a rest, but I'm so glad I didn't!
King Ashbringer is quite hot, and his once Princess of Gellum turned Queen is beautiful. Ash is slowly turning into crystal and she must save his life and find the Healing Scepter. Ah, isn't love grand?
Mad Head Games/Big Fish, you have outdone yourselves on this one. Awesome game design! Stunning graphics! I am so impressed with the game flow and how organized and intelligent and logical the tasks are. The music is outstanding; the voiceovers/actors are superb; the sound effects are unobtrusive and extremely pleasant to the ears; the special effects are amazing; HOS are wonderful; the mini-games are fun and are rather easy but that doesn't take away from my 5-star rating one bit! Games that are organized and flow as smoothly as this one do not come around that often; but it's so refreshing to find a 2015 game without the glitches and quirks where everything falls into place and the storyline won't bore you.
Prince Hark, the raven/shape-shifter, kinda' reminds of Diaval from Maleficent; and Ash reminds me of Thor but hotter! LOL! Well done, developers! Applaud! Applaud! Applaud! Your families and friends must be so proud! I highly recommend this game! You must remember to collect all the collectibles because you just might get caught up in the story and tasks and forget them. Enjoy the adventure! I've got to get back to the game!
I recommend this game!

I'm nearing the end of this SE version of Phantasmat: The Endless Night and though there are a lot of wow factors in this game, so many of the tasks were illogical. I know, I know, it's just a game and it wouldn't be thus without these silly, nonsensical jumping through hoops tasks to complete them. So much of the tasks are illogical, in my opinion, but yet it's still a good game because for one, I loved some of the mini-games like the pin-ball machine game, where you complete one and play a second one. Love that. I loved the refrigerator magnets puzzle. Super cool. The artwork for the inventory items was poor; I couldn't tell what some of the items actually were at times. But I persevered without using the hint button and found all of the tedious items I ran across. The graphics were okay, not great in my opinion. Rather grainy. The sound effects in this particular game was annoying, I just turned down the volume. Because of the mini-games I'm rating this game 3 1/2 stars but since we're not given that option, it's getting a 3-star..Again, it's got many good points about it. It's amazing how the characters are in danger in each of these games and they always need an object or two for you to find to free them but in turn they always have an item for you on-hand. I know I'm getting picky, and I've played so many of them that perhaps it can become silly and tiring after all, and one may wonder why I buy games like these, but ultimately, they are fun to play and most of the time challenging. I do recommend this game.
I recommend this game!
