Elephant Games has stepped up a notch or two on this game. I'm rating this game based on a completed CE version a 4 stars and not 5 stars because the game was short, music was annoying so I muted it, but the sound effects were fine. Graphics were very good and the voiceovers were great.
Same old storyline--not unusual--only the names have been changed as they say. But I really liked this game. I liked the intrigue of trying to hide from the beyonders.
There were loads of morphing objects to find in scenes and in the hidden object scenes and some interactive as well. Lots of collectibles--fragments and I found all of those, Yayy!
What I'm not crazy about is those matching or placing the runes within the circles within another circle. Boring to me but the game flow was swift actually. I liked that.
It's a pretty cool game actually and I do recommend it. Bravo, developers!
Just completed this SE version and I must say EIPIX devs put in an astronomical amount of thought into this game, so much so that the strategy was a bit too confusing for me to the point where I skipped a few puzzles, which is unusual for me because of the lack of structure with some of them.
There were tasks to complete that I found to be irrational. And that all the back n' forth business, though not unusual for us gamers, became frustrating at times, but, yet, exciting.
I want to add that for the money you get a lot of bang for your buck! This was a very long game for an SE version, which somewhat played like a CE. I liked the game regardless of its flaws and yes, some glitches. I felt I was in a maze and wondered how I managed some of the complex tasks as I did. I guess that's because I've played enough games thus far that common sense took over. But what it feat it was!!
The artwork was extremely complex. I didn't know what some of the objects actually were but I went along with their rationale somehow. The graphics were good for the most part but muddy. Again, the theory, science, rationale behind this game was amazing and confusing at the same time.
Again, a very long game, so thank you Big Fish/EIPIX for that pleasure. Very intriguing story centering around Captain Nemo's adventures or misadventures, if you will!. I loved completing some of the tasks and helping out the animals. There were plenty things to do which were quite tedious. I don't those but the devs' thought pattern was a bit out of whack, at least in my opinion.
What I noticed with this game was items you retrieved for completing a task was done at a distance--like using a key to open the door. I like to see my keys in the lock up close and personal, not from a distance. I guess that was part of the devs' method of making the game a bit more challenging. I don't know! Try the game, you may end up loving it! I do like these devs and will continue to buy their games.
Yes! More mist and fog! I have ambivalent feelings about this game. My review is based upon a completed CE version. 4Friends Games developers are awesome, no doubt. They're top notch, however, the logic in this game, like in so many others these days, doesn't leave much to be desired. Perhaps I'm getting tired of the same old, same old. Get this to get that, click this for that and though the minigames were ok the two least favorite of mine were rotating tiles to create a picture of an emblem. and switching circular tokens to restore a picture. Part of me wants to give this game a 5 star rating and the other--2 stars. What this game lacks is substance, but I'm giving it a 3.5 stars. The 5 stars is for Visuals not sound, by the way.
The graphics/artworks is stunning--beautiful, crisp scenes, a lot of work went into this and deserves 5 stars just for that, but the music I've heard before and is so repetitive that I turned it down very low because it was becoming annoying.
I found all the paper dolls. Yay!! Didn't 'achieve' all the achievements but all in all it wasn't a bad game. Better than some.
The flow was not bad at all but two-thirds in to the game I was becoming bored. The HOPS were okay not the greatest. The voiceovers were very good.
Still, I recommend this game. Try out the demo and see what you think. For me demos give you somewhat of a good idea what to look forward, too. And it pays to read the reviews even tho most of the reviews are rated high, I always read the lowest ones first to give me an idea of what I'm getting.
This is a very good game. Well done, Mad Head developers! Well done!
One thing that always tickles me is how the police, who are supposed to be assisting you, just stand there in the middle of the street scratching their heads and exclaiming, "Hurry, Miss Brave, the murderer ran down that street!" "Oh, I see, officer, I just now found a few hundred objects in the house to piece together this mystery, and you didn't feel the need to chase after the perpetrator?" Sigh!!
I did like many aspects of this game. The HOPS were interesting, somewhat different--morphing objects within them which I don't mind. Puzzles were interesting not hard but tedious. The flow and the storyline were great. Another murder suspense but very good!
I completed the entire CE version so my review is based on that. You have a nice soundtrack and I like how you were given the option to download any of the tunes. I found none that I cared to download, however.
The graphics were nicely done. The voiceovers were great. I would definitely recommend this game because you get a lot for your money. Of course I didn't collect all the collectibles this time but after completing the Bonus Game you can go back and find them. I did get most of the achievements. All in all it was a great game. I'm giving it 4-1/2 stars.
Another good series. Just finished the game. I played this at my leisure. The only challenging aspect is the items are indeed very tiny at times. But I didn't need to use the hint button for the hidden objects, or wildlife or recyclables. I completed all the riddles and whatnot except for three puzzles. That was because I lacked patience for those. The puzzle pieces were small and numerous and they had to be rotated. I did enjoy the word cryptograms and the matching pairs, finding 20 of this and that.
Some of the scenes were very clear and some were muted. But I did like the hidden objects and some of the interactions within those.
Bravo to the devs once again. I'm giving this a 4.50 star rating. I do recommend this game for sure.
Speaking of flow, I thought this game had just that! Right up my alley! I am basing my review on a completed CE game.
I thought the storyline was great! Yeah, it's about revenge--nothing new here but I liked it a lot. Beautiful esthetics--cool, clear, crisp colors. In essence, the artwork is stunning. The music--I've heard before but wonderful just the same. The cutscenes are great.
There were some typos and grammar errors that a lot of developers on the whole need to work on including 4FriendsGames developers. But I must commend these developers for the ingenuity and organizational aspects of this great game.
If offered, I play in custom mode and don't require much help. I prefer it that way. But the map was wonderful. Some of the rationale of retrieving objects were awesome and some were questionable. The HOS were interactive and just enough to suit me. Not difficult but there were some that were challenging to find.
The voiceovers were very good.
The puzzles were more tedious than difficult but very clever on the developers' part.
I found all 22 collectibles. For once in my life, I remembered them. I accomplished many achievements but not all.
Regardless of the negatives, I'm rating this game 4.75 stars but I will mark it 5. I love these developers, and, again, I commend them on a great game! You get a lot of bang for the buck and compared to so many other boring games I've played in the past, this was not boring at all. I do recommend this game.
When a famous shapeshifting alchemist is charged with looking into the murder of the king's most trusted agent and friend, the last thing she expects to discover is an intricate network of shadowy criminals, intent on bringing chaos to the land.
Well! Well! Well! Brave Giant Games developers, applaud, applaud, applaud! I am in the middle of this wonderful SE version of Queen's Quest 2 - Stories of Forgotten Past, and I am having the time of my life!
I'm thoroughly enjoying this unique journey that these amazing developers created. The mini-games, the unique, interactive HOPS, and silhouette items are delightful. This is one incredible game!
The map rocks; the flow is awesome; ingenious tasks and games; cool, crisp graphics that are really beautiful; fantastic cut scenes; great voiceovers. One minor aspect, once again, is that the developers need to be more careful with spelling and grammar--only found one error but by accident actually. This does not take away from the ingenuity and excitement of the game, though. This game is a sheer pleasure to be playing and I don't believe I've ever heard of these developers before but I commend Brave Giant highly!
I love the one piece of art where the parents seem so forlorn, (slight spoiler), and they have a German Shepherd, who needs something very important from you, but upon my perusing through that great cabin, there he his walking back n' forth like a crazy dog until you obtain that item for him! I cracked up watching him going back n forth like an expectant father! LOL!
In one scene there is a cabin, you need to find the children of the parents who seem to be forgetful. The wife is standing in the background, while the husband sits at the table, which has food on it and is beautifully set with some lovely, fine china. To find out more, buy the SE at least. You won't be sorry! The artwork is beautiful. Love the colors! Love the storyline!
Other scenes involve forests; meeting up with Robin Hood, and so forth. You will look forward to meeting different characters in this amazing journey. This is one class act game! I'm kinda' sorry I didn't purchase the CE version, but I just might buy it after all!
I highly recommend this game! It's a keeper and refreshing for a change! It deserves a 5-star rating!
I must agree with HeavenBound. It seems for years now the occultic theme pretty much dominates the game world of BigFish and this game is somewhat darker in that aspect, which is not that desirable for me. Tarot Cards, psychics, spells, seeing ghosts/dead people. Gets tiring after awhile. But it seems to interest most gamers.
With that said, I just finished playing the main game of this CE version. I just started the bonus game.
I'll leave the details of the game to those wonderful reviewers who shine in that field. Bless their hearts! They have the patience to do so. I don't. I like to base my reviews on the game flow, strategy, script, editing, rationalization, sometimes the storyline if it really moves me.
The strategy was pretty cool. Domini Games developers are known for their cleverness and I must admit that they are one of my favorite developers. You and I know that most of the games require finding objects like axes or oil cans filled with oil in the silliest places and I don't ever see that changing. I mean you go through Haities and high water to repair, for example, a motorcycle or a bike even to have it crash. Same old life-threatening scenario. Again, it's basically that way with all games. Perhaps, I've been playing far too long, but I won't give up.
What I like about Domini Games developers is that the majority of items in your inventory are used right away and some are not. I think once the developers learn about sequence and scenes, someday there will be a perfect game in every aspect.
The graphics were very good not excellent. The music was very good. The map was the best. I did come across some glitch spots now and then whereby I had to exit the game and then go back in. My computer is fine.
The script was good, however, the actors would now and then add or eliminate words from the script. Not a serious thing but I do notice it happens a lot with other games as well. The editors need to check grammar, spelling and the above mentioned.
The puzzles and mini-games were very good. Not hard but tedious.
Other than the theme itself which I'm not too keen on, I did like playing the game because of the flow--and that deserves a 5-star rating but I'm giving the game an overall rating of 4 stars.
Once again, I haven't collected all the collectibles and just was not interested in finding the tarot cards period! So far I have 20 butterflies out of 44. I know there are more in the bonus portion of the game.
There are many, many items to find and that's the fun portion. The map was awesome. You have glasses that will detect the ghosts and you will be using those quite a bit.
I prefer playing games that once you've collected all your objects in any given scene that that scene should be closed and you can move on. If the storyline requires you to return home that is one thing but going into scene 20 and having to retrieve an item from scene 9 is ludicrous to me.
Good job, developers! Come up with something new now. Gamers, try out the demo. You do get a lot of bang for the buck in this game. I still recommend it regardless of my beliefs and concerns.
Let me just preface it to say that this is about the best and most pleasant game I have encountered in a long time. Mad Head Game Developers, bravo!
I mean the special effects and cut scenes alone are exceptional! The graphics are divine! The music is great and not annoying, and the puzzles and mini-games rock! The HOPs are unique as well. I could go on and on but you must at least try the game. Nevertales: The Forgotten Pages CE version truly is one of my favorites. I have almost completed the Main Game and looking forward to the Bonus Game.
There is one negative, however, I'm still rating this game a 5-star regardless--there were several misspelled words in the journal and in some of the script/text. There were grammar errors as well. Be it for me to judge because I make mistakes now and then, too. To err is human; to forgive divine! Why then am I pointing this out? Well, it stood out like a sore thumb and perhaps Mad Head will take this into account with their next great creation! Anyway, the word "probably" in the text was misspelled; the word "meant" in the journal was misspelled. Still the game had me hooked from the very beginning. Loved the strategy of the game. The voiceovers were wonderful. The storyline was snap on awesome! Very clever tasks, too! Great game-play and flow! Love finding the Heart of the Story Signs, and the morphing objects in the HOPs. There are other items to find within the game, too.
One other thing I'd like to mention about these developers is the fact that when you had 1 of 3 items to complete a whole, you were able to use whatever you had at the time to add to the item without waiting to accumulate all three. This helps eliminate the clutter in your inventory. Good thinking, developers!
I highly recommend this game! There were no lulls in the game and the scenes moved smoothly. Great job, developers!
So many Guardians, and then there's PHOBOS the evil Lord of the World of the Dead! You come across a lot of interesting characters, too, like the Blind Witch. But I must say that Vendel developers put an extreme amount of thought into this game. I have to give them a hand but quite frankly, I was getting a bit tired of matching symbols after awhile and as much as I like matching pairs, IMO, there were too many of them. But again, the developers really did a splendid job, so I commend them for their hard work.
The flow was very good; the graphics were great; the music and sound effects were wonderful. To use the map you have to click on the journal and select it next to the tasks. The map was good.
I just completed the entire CE version and I enjoyed the Main Game quite a bit but I can't say the same about the Bonus Game, to be honest. It ends abruptly. Perhaps there is more to come in this series!
There were tons of interactive HOS which wasn't difficult at all. And you had a helper so to speak--a little bit eerie but he does help you when needed. The you've got your Dark Compass. I suggest you try the game out. You will have loads of things to do. For me, runes and symbols are cool but I think again, there were a bit too many for my taste. The HOS were simple and toward the end started to look like junk piles but you will find your items, I can assure. Be patient. It's always that last one that's tricky.
I recommend this game for sure. You may very well love it! The game, though challenging at times, was not difficult at all but tedious. The developers deserve a pat on the back for doing a good job!
