this is the first time that i have ever reviewed only having played the demo ONLY but this game deserves a review. The reason i don't review demos is because the game can get better (and also can get worse) after the demo and it seems to be an unfair reflection on the game unless you played it all ........... however this game was awful.
the puzzles (if you can call them that) were easy (actual a 5 year old could have done them) - i don't particularly like puzzles but i try and challenge myself but i could have done these with my eyes closed........ come on developers where are the challenges ????
the demo stated 90 minutes play however my time took 33 minutes and that was making a coffee in the middle. I realise that a lot of games (if not all) nowdays don't take up the entire demo period but i guess if the demo was actually 90 minutes you would have been 1/2 way through (or more) the entire game.
from other reviews this is a very very short CE game -the developers and Big Fish have to start proving better games for the money we pay.
I have all the Haunted Hotel games but i will pass on this one - even if they offered it on a daily special.
Storyline and characters have a lot to be desired.
i purchased this games when i purchased (catclysm) game - because i wanted to know what the series was about.
there are lots of puzzles and not being a puzzle person i found this challenging but that i why i play these games - to challenge myself.
i did like the fact that there were puzzles within puzzles and that is something coming from me.
i purchased the CE version (which i don't normally do) and was extremely happy with the bonus chapter (which i don't normally play because by the time i get to the bonus chapter i am bored with the storyline). But the bonus chapter was great. It nicely dovetailed into the main game which i found really enjoyable. It just completes the story.
I missed out on some of the collectables but the game allows you to replay it (under the original game name) and collect them all - i will definitely replay this game under a different name.
i purchased the first of the series (stolen life) when i purchased this game - because i wanted to know what the series was about.

i did find the walkthrough a little in wanting - i wasted 3 hints on the puzzle within a puzzle at the ruins because the walkthrough didn't tell me what i was suppose to be looking for - i think a walkthrough should be a lot better - i don't mind them not telling everything (such as where the hidden objects are) but really help me out. .5 taken off for the walkthrough inadequacies.

this game is sooo lame - there voiceovers are shocking - the storyline is predictable and the game is short.
who would let out 3 inexperienced detectives to solve a case ?
i couldn't get through the bonus game because they just used scenes from the main game - come on developers you really need to do better than this.
i purchased this game on special AUD$8 and it was just pitiful. I did play the demo and hoped that the storyline would get better - but it didn't.
i have never given 1 star to any game - if i really don't like a game i just don't do a review but the developers need to hear that you can't take a series and remove main characters (Elf).
i purchased this as a freebie and how disappointed i was - talk talk and more talk.
i haven't finished the game and i don't think i will - it didn't keep my interest - i did some gardening, cleaned the house etc and every now and then go back to it - hoping the game improved (i am always the optimist).
not sure how the developers get away with unlogical things such as - he is going to be executed = she comes along and in front of everyone cuts him free and no-one does anything,.,,, (really !)
the developers showed that they had a sense of humor - daring andrew collins the 4th was fantastic - funny, cheeky and very witty. I love when he took my tool kit, restarted the game etc., just so funny. Please create another game with just him ............
overall the game was fun - great concept the Bermunda triangle - had a issue with building the "soft landing" in Energy Orb because you needed to do this in order and i lost my chair - couldn't get it back but i rebooted the system and was able to start that section action.
everything about this game was fun - the puzzles and hidden objects and even the collectibles (which i don't normally do) - also the extras just added to it.
it was pleasing to see a toolkit that i was able to keep - instead of having to find a knife every other scene - so well done developers.
Overall - had a great couple of afternoons playing.
this game is extremely short although the bonus chapter felt like the same length as the actual game. I don't normally purchase CE games however this was on special (8.82 instead of 8.00 for SE version).
as the game is a intro to another one that will become (hopefully says the developers) a series - they should have spent 5 minutes (considering the game is short they have time time) to introduce the characters.
I agree with another review that stated the illogical - you need to go to the hospital but you need to phone for their address and the steps to actually get the phone call (phone box) and hence the address - really she had a mobile with her 5 seconds earlier. Also the hidden objects and the matching of items were not logical or made any sense.
Why do you need to collect "evidence" if it is not even looked at - examine it and come up with a solution - at least with Dark City games he goes home to review the evidence. Waste of effort collecting items.
Definitely not keen on playing both roles (and this appears to be the norm in a lot of games) - i guess it helps the developers because they don't need to be so creative or improve the storyline.
visuals and sound were ok however the policeman said he was going somewhere (see can't ever remember what they are doing) but he still appears on the scene. I wouldn't thought that it was too hard to put that 1 additional scene without him. Details are important.
Bonus chapter - I only wished that they were both off on a undercover job.............particularly from the start so this game wouldn't have been released.
using a mobile phone (not hands free) while driving - really !!! I know she had a car accident but it isn't giving off a good message.
Unfortunately i couldn't finish the game because the poker was already in the door (and i had one in the inventory as well) but i couldn't select it ............. definitely not too upset couldn't finish it.
In summary - i wasted 8.82 and will definitely not be purchasing any follow up games in this potential series.
i do love the Bridge to Another World series - this one was very good and lots of fun.
i don't usually purchase CE version because i can't be bothered with the "bling" aspects of the game but this was on special $9.41 instead of $16.00 so purchased it.
I agree with one of the other comments that the morphing objects were so small - these games are suppose to be fun not a challenge to my eyes. I just gave up trying to find them. I guess years ago you had to find these objects to unlock the bonus chapter but because this is not relevant anymore i am not sure why the developers make it so hard to find. This is one of the reasons why i don't purchase CE version of games.
I liked the puzzles and the hidden objects.
The storyline was good - had a beginning - middle and end.
i am putting up the answer to the riddle because it has annoyed me that Big Fish has even done this - we pay monthly subscriptions and then purchase games so therefore spend a lot of money and they only give a discount (which is only 40%) if you can get a riddle - this is just so wrong.
i have played the demo and it looks like a fun game - love the bright colours etc - now i know the answer i can play the whole game - might update this review once the game has been completed.
would have been a 4 if not for this stupid riddle.
i have a number of these games in the series - i enjoyed this game.
It was a very good length.
It kept within the series theme which is really important to me - it needs to be true to the theme and this game is - i am pleased that they have lost the mundane actions for the glasses.
Puzzles - good and clear instructions. Some i haven't done before and some with a further twist to them which made them enjoyable.
Hidden objects - OK - some (but not a lot) of variety from lists - but majority are lists.
Storyline is acceptable - has a start - middle and ending.
