this game was produced in 2012 however as there are so little pickings available i thought that i would give it a go and i am so pleased that i did. Developers should look at some of the puzzles - they were exceptionally good or perhaps just so different from games in 2022.
although there is a lot of "talking" it is important to listen to it so you get more of the storyline.
great game - enjoyed the afternoon going by.
try before you buy - happy gaming.

i purchased this game in 2013 and have played it a couple of times but i am so desperate for a decent game to play i have gone back to replaying old games.
This game in worth the effort - the hint button is great (played in easy mode). There isn't a jump map (nor a map of any description) i guess in 2013 it wasn't part of the overall game requirement but we expect it in games currently developed in 2022.
the storyline is great - the hidden objects and puzzles are enjoyable (current developers should take a note of some of these puzzles because they are so much better than 2022 offer).
I have all the Secrets of the Dark games and love them all
The concept of changing the lights is fantastic - the developers are so smart to be able to change the lighting and get a double dose of challengers and entertainment.

review written in 2022 - i purchased this game in 2013 and have played in a couple of times - the developers are extremely smart to change from light to dark and adds to the mystery.
compared to games in 2022 this game is definitely stands out - it has hidden objects and puzzles.
i do miss a map but i guess i am so use to the modern games most games in this era didn't have maps.
i played in hard mode because it made me think.
congrats to the developers.
try before you purchase but please remember - there is NO hand holding.

review on demo only - this is only the third time i have reviewed a demo - i think you should give the whole game a chance before reviewing - sometime they do get better - however this one needs a review.
the whole demo lasted less than 20 minutes - perhaps it gave an idea about the game but it was the same old same old - nothing new here folks - so predictable.
the positive is that the characters actually talked (bonus for me).
the puzzles and hidden objects you can find in all the other games - so disappointing that the developers can NOT come up with something new.
i realise reviews are subjective however some reviewers give 5 stars to the worse games possible - why ?
because there have been so slim pickings lately from big fish and their developers i have been replaying some of the my old games and they are 100% better than this offer.
the difference between this game as such as Tearstone - tearstone is a thinking game - there is no holding your hand you have to think about picking up the clues. Developers please have a look at this game and compare it to this offer or perhaps have a look at some of the old games and get a idea of how to improve this offer.

i purchased this game in 2014 and finished it so i must have enjoyed the game but because i wasn't submitted reviews i didn't review the game - because of the slim picking 2022 i am going back and playing old games hence this review.
the game overall was entertaining - the hidden objects were different and i didn't mind going back to the same room to find different objects.
i liked that you had a meter on how many task you needed to do in one of the many scene.
i loved the characters that you meet.
Loved Bella particularly since she actually talks. I read a review stating that the developers don't let their character talk because by not talking you take on that character in the game - i strongly differ.
i played this over a couple of days and feel that it was a really long game.

i only purchased this game in 2022 after i played Family Secrets which i purchased in 2013 - i am playing all old games because there is nothing new in the current games and i am tied of the same old story line and nothing much different.
it was great to see the same characters (now days the developers decide on changing or deleting main characters which is a really put off).
the puzzles were easy (i am not a puzzle person but like to challenge myself and it wasn't a challenge but they were fun). The hidden objects where a mix of lists and items which again was a great change to the current games - current games you don't even need to look at the list you just know what you need to find - this is not challenge at all). I didn't mind having to go back to the same hidden objects because there were new lists.
The storyline was interesting. Keep me amused for a good couple of hours. I didn't keep a record of my time but i think it was about 4 hrs which is (again comparing to games in 2022) is money worth.
Obviously i didn't play the game in series order but that didn't take away from the enjoyment.

Paranormal Files without Rick Rogers isn't Paranormal Files -

The puzzles have been done on all the previous Paranormal File games (except for perhaps 1 new puzzle). I don't mind the hidden objects because they are more than piles of junk.
I actually agree with pennmom36 after playing a fantastic game Tearstone last week - it just demonstrate how poorly this game is. Nothing new here.
I think because there were so many comments about Rick Rogers not being the main character in the "Ghost Chapter" that the developers tried to hook us in by starting off with him in the hope that he will materialise - sad to read reviews stating that this is not the case.
This game is not for me - i might play previous games in the Paranormal File series but i stand by my comments in the "ghost chapter" you can't write off the main character.
Developers perhaps you should play Teasrstone and experience a fantastic game - beautiful and crisp screen - storyline and loveable characters.

i don't normally purchase CE versions unless they are on special but this game was so integrating that i couldn't resist.
The graphics are fantastic - so clear and so beautifully done.
The characters are delightful (and talk which is an added bonus for me).
The hidden object were mind blowing - so out of the norm and so wonderful to see something different.
The puzzles made you think outside of the box - which was a great challenge and had puzzles i have never seen before.
After playing the demo and purchasing i learnt very quickly that you need to keep an eye out of the clues - which was wonderful because there is no hand-holding.

I was a little disappointed with the walkthrough - i did refer to it a couple of times and didn't understand it. It didn't appear to have the full collectables in the walkthrough so i missed out on playing the "7 card destiny" bonus game but i am going to play it all over again now.
Well done developers - hope we see more of these games. Perhaps some of the current developers can take note.

at the moment i am playing old games - which last average 5 hrs - the puzzles are more interesting and challenging and although the hidden objects are the same old same old i have to remind myself that it is an old game.
Developers you need to improve - there should be a minimum length because as a CE version this was very very poor.
Definitely not worth the money for CE version - perhaps SE version and only if on special.
I recommend this game!

i purchased this game in 2021 - however i have only just played it - got lost in other purchases or maybe i was not up to playing "new" series however this is definitely a series that can go on. It has great potential.
I didn't play with hint so i can't comment on the bee and hint however it was a good challenge to do it in hard mode.
it was definitely a plus for me when the main character actually talked - thank you developers.
the puzzles and hidden objects were enjoyable - the hidden objects were not just piles and the puzzles were a challenge (which is why we purchase / play these games).
