A cartoony 'escape from the castle dungeon' game where you toggle between playing the characters of a kidnapped prince or princess - where the antagonistic comments between them are the prelude to a romance.
Pros:
- Visually very nice
- Characters you meet are mildly amusing
- Medieval music suits mood of the game
- Nice hints button which gives you step by step hints if you need or want them. Don't have to wait for refresh.
Cons:
- Didn't feel adventure-y enough for me (talk to npc x, find this, go there, do that, unlock door, get to next level - then repeat: talk to npc y, etc... ) I got bored and skipped a lot of puzzled or used the hint button a lot. I just wasn't feeling it. A lot of clicking in a lot of places in a room to make sure you click on right object.
- Music was repetitive
- The humour just wasn't that funny, there was something missing for me.
I think this is a pleasant enough game for beginners to the adventure genre, or if you want something super light and with a medieval vibe. For more experienced players this might feel as thought it is lacking in story progression pace compared to other adventure games out there.
A nice enough game, but nothing to rave about for the intermediate player.

A straight forward enough casual strategy game requiring a lot of clicking to send out troops and a limited amount of thinking due to limited actions available.
General Premise:
* Send troops out of buildings you own to storm neutral and enemy buildings (watchtowers that zap lasers, houses and castles for troops).
* Multi-select your buildings and from each one half the number of troops will deploy to the building you double click on. So it is a question of throwing more bodies at a building than what is in there already.
* Owning properties gets you money which means that you can use different artifacts on each level (e.g. speed up troops, meteorite blast etc...)
* That is pretty much all there is too it.
Other comments:
* Graphics are fine for the game and reasonable sound effects. Nothing to write home about.
* No story to it really. There is a statue which gains trophies as you go further on in the game, but this is incidental. Once you complete all levels, you unlock a Colonel and General mode which means that the computer plays more cleverly.
* Some levels near the start I found challenging, but then I realized I didn't need to think and just had to go 'clicking mental' to grab land.
* If you do the demo you will get a feel of what the whole game is like. Levels and game play are pretty same-y, with different level artifacts being the main dimension which may change your strategy.
An simple strategy game you can just dip in and out of, to while away some time.

Average adventure game. (Note: not HO game which BF classifies it has). Find out who is behind the death of a star on a hit reality TV show.
Pros:
- Graphics and scenery excellent.
- Good voice acting
- Not much travelling about in main game required.
- Bonus chapter story insight is interesting and tantalising (unlike main game), but game play is not so great (lots of to and fro).
- A game with no HO - woo! Great if you are not in the mood for screen gazing.
Cons
- Music drove me nuts and had to switch it off. Relentless and samey all the way through.
- In some areas when I expected sound later in the game I didn't hear any
- Game started off well with tense atmosphere and possibilities, but just seemed to run out of pace and started to feel like a drag.
- Puzzles not great: No-brainers at the start and later on the mechanics of what was required was not obvious at all. I reached a point where I couldn't be bothered with the game anymore, so skipped a lot of puzzles.
- Bonus part of game only lasted 20 mins for me. A bit short really.
It's not a bad game, just doesn't feel like there is much love put into it, apart from the visual graphics and acting, which is shame.
For beginners this is probably an alright game to cut your teeth into. For me, as an intermediate, this is was "all front and no substance" game, which left me a little disappointed.
I don't recommend this game.

'Asylum-ed' due to having super powers, you gain enough clarity to realise that you are going to be terminated the next day, and need to get out.
A HO heavy adventure, which is not "gore-tastic". The artwork is very considered and well drawn. This with the subtly eerie music creates a decent tension in the game, without being over the top.
You use the lift/elevator *a lot* to travel between 5 floors of the asylum. Each floor having about 3-5 rooms. With such a tight environment, the onus is more on HO than puzzle/adventure, with HO piles revisited during the game.
I'd have preferred fewer HOs mainly because I wanted to know the next bit of the story, but I guess that is a sign of a well put together HO game then? (It comes-up in the adventure list in BF, but indicates HO when you hover over the title. So a fair description.)
The CE component was slightly more adventure-like and less HO heavy, which I prefer. I was glad at the end of the SE that I got the CE. Not much more content, but I needed to know what happened next! Good story line.
Nothing incredibly 'different' about this game. An alright game for those who like it HO heavy.

Save the Princess, Save the world! A hearty adventurous time management romp through a cursed medieval land.
The game works well for those relatively new to TM games and want something absorbing, not too ridiculously hard, and with an actual interesting story-line that develops over time.
A solid TM game which you can play timed or casual. I played timed over the course of about a week. So the game length is decent. If you don't complete on time, that's fine. You can carry on, but you don't get a pretty gold star on the map, is all.
What creates and enhances the play-ability of this game are: the bright crisp cartoon graphics, engaging story-line, quality voice acting, entertaining conversational banter between characters, and great medieval atmospheric music and sound effects.
Game play is absorbing and needs focus and attention. Generally you should find yourself constantly clicking. If you find yourself in a long 'waiting' situation, then 8/10 times this indicates you need to rethink you strategy if you are playing on the timed Heroic difficulty.
So, go forth brave TM adventurers, and dig, beat, potion and chop obstacles out of the way to get your your Princess Lumina!! <Trumpet Fanfare>
I recommend this game!

You are a young tribesman, ready for the Island tests to gain right of passage into adulthood. All against the backdrop of strange flashes into your background indicating you have a mission or a destiny, whilst on the other side of the Island a group of white people have landed and are edging closer. What will happen?
In this game you learn skills in hunting, fishing, planting, cooking and potion making. You can sell things and get better equipment. You don't have to go 'mission, mission, mission', but can run around the Island making things and exploring and get round to the quests when you want to.
The Island is not too big, and it easy to remember where you need to go, with mission reminders at the bottom the screen. the story line is great, and the voice acting and characterisations are amazing.
Minor niggles:
- Needing potions to go through certain areas was a bit tiresome, but not a deal breaker in terms of game play fun.
- I initially had problems with the game constantly crashing/freezing every 10 minutes and having to restart the game (Yes I enjoyed the game so much I was happy to go through this pain). Quick fix is to update your graphics driver.
The only other similar type of game I'd played to this is Wandering Willows which I enjoyed greatly, and had wondered what other games like that were out there. And finding this one was lovely. You don't need to have played the first game to enjoy this one.
So if you want an absorbing adventure game, this will fit the bill quite nicely.
I recommend this game!

Light, bright, HOPA with good pace and story.
Straightforward linear game. It "does what it says on the tin" and does it _very_ well, without pretension. The well paced story line and characters compellingly draw you into the game.
Premise:
Run around Nottingham Market and surrounding areas as Mrs Robin Hood, who has escaped from Nottingham Castle. Gather up the Merry Men, so as to make use of their various attributes of strength, persuasion, etc.. in order to return to the Castle, save your husband still trapped in there, and bring King John to account!
Pros:
- Really well drawn scenery and characters and feel to the game
- Excellent market and scene sounds and music, which was not distracting, and added to the atmosphere of the game.
- Not particularly bright guards, with funny accents and utter drivel coming out of their mouths. Most amusing. I'd never make it out of the castle from listening in to them.
- 'All clear' marking at the top of the screen if you have completed all actions in an area
- I liked the cleverly weaved in'find the wanted posters' aspect of the game
- Take a break from questing by taking part in archery contests, and give your eyes a break from HO.
- Decent mix of puzzles and HO in the game
- I loved that you collect fireflies in a jar (upto 5 can be held at a time) and these are your hints. Sometimes when you are weary of HOs and just want to get on with the story, this means you can 'hint hint hint hint hint' without having to wait a long time for a hint refresh.
Cons:
Or things that I think may be perceived as negatives, but didn't bother me
- Might be too much hand-holding and guidance for players looking for something more hardcore. e.g. maybe you don't want to know when an area has been cleared. This is definitely a casual playing game.
- A female Robin hood (not a spoiler). I don't know why some people are taking offense at the female RH angle. She is not meant to be the male RH of film and legend - that gets explained.
- Perceived short duration. In advanced mode it took me about 4.5 hours to play casually. There are some reviews saying it is a short game. For me this duration felt fine, I felt I got my money's worth. I've spend credits on shorter games than this before.
- Game play too easy. It is pretty easy, but if you want a casual fun game, then this fits that niche. Certainly due to simplicity I cannot give the game a 5.
Summary: A solid light and entertaining HOPA for casual play. Well written, drawn, and put together. Ideal for a lovely lazy Sunday afternoon of fun and frolicks.
Cheers to the Creators!
I recommend this game!

Matching game, where you shoot a colour at a square to make matches.
All levels were timed and a felt a bit hectic, I didn't feel as though I was using much skill (As a beginner/ intermediate level player).
Strategy wise: Focusing only on a few key bonus skills per level is the best way for prompt completion, otherwise any potential strategy is made void with too many different bonus types appearing.
I would have liked to see a 'reset' or 're-do' option, for when it was painfully obvious I was not going to complete a level.
Difficulty wise it got harder, then reached a difficulty peak a third of the way through. Once you get over that hump and get the bonus skill where your matches don't have to be in a straight line, you can storm through the later levels _very_ quickly. So not the best game difficulty progression.
Story line wise: Well, nothing really engaging happening there.
BlueStarfish writes a really good detailed review, so for more detail check it out.
Average match game at best.
I don't recommend this game.

Time management with a cartoon-like freeze frame story progression.
Make your way around rebuilding and protecting houses from the elements or magical interference and make dosh to buy and build more houses and hire dwarves to help you.
Each level is a single screen to build in, so no extensive building out and scrolling is required. You can chose between a relaxed or a timed version of the game. And nice enough cartoon-like freeze scenes with script are used for the story telling. I found the humour a bit lame and the storyline rather weak and unengaging.
I think with the other positive reviews this is probably more appealing to people who are more into the game-type and the strategy of it, rather than the story-line. For me without a reason to be doing something and a strong storyline, I stop caring. And actually stopped half way through this game.
My preference is something with a more sense of scale and variety. For me, this game just feels cramped and limited, with only a limited amount of actions you can perform and limited reasons for doing things. I just felt I was doing the same things over and over with no exciting reward.
As a relative newbie to time management games, this one is just not doing it for me. The only other 'build things in one screen' games I can compare against are is My Kingdom for the Princess, which I would rate for game play well above this one.
it's not a bad game. It's just not for me. So if you are story line oriented you'll maybe struggle with this a little. If you are much more strategy focused, then this will probably fit the bill nicely.

Standard Edition review:
Wander around the city of the Cyclops to save your boyfriend Tom! (And pick strawberries on the way... Don't ask!;) An enjoyable easy-medium level HOPA, with lovely graphics, excellent music, and atmospheric in a sad abandoned city kind of way.
I really enjoyed this game. With all the talking heads on walls that you have to do mini-quests for. I felt that maybe I should start breaking into song from the film Labyrinth or something. You definitely have to suspend your belief A LOT in some places. It does get a bit daft sometimes, but I liked it.
Pros:
- Decent game play time (>4 hours)
- Graphics and Sound lovely most of the time
- Good humour and a few laugh out loud moments
- Excellent pace of story line 'reveals' that pull you along. it is a well paced game.
- Lots of puzzles rather than just being HO-tastic, which I appreciated. A number of puzzles as beginner-intermediate I have not seen before. Everything was do-able. (matching pairs, mismatch games, remembering sequences to replay - to name a few).
- You are able to bring up the 'help' or 'clue' next to the appropriate puzzle, avoiding toggling or straining the brain to remember sequences too much.
- You can see a lot of imagination and love and attention has been put into the the scenery and backgrounds. Very lovely.
- I love how you pick up 'minions' (for want of a term) who have abilities which help you progress in the game e.g. things that at the start are out of reach will later be accessible.
- I liked how they had a thank you for their mums in the end credits. Bless.
Cons:
- Map was not a fast map as described in the game (minor thing, since the city is not that big)
- I'm British, but even for me the accents and voice acting was grating. The English ones and the Scottish ones.
- Any scenes when it came to main characters and actors were jumpy/jerky/blurry and just very wooden in style and acting. Just didn't fit in with the smoothness of graphics in other parts of the game
- Some story line twists were like 'you what?!' This kind of sits in the pro area too because some things were just... well... astoundingly bizarre... and just 'what?!'
- Still trying to figure out why they have called it the Blacksmiths Daughter... Ah well.
There is a fair bit of guidance, maybe too much for some, which might put more experienced gamers off. So bear that in mind. It seems to be the main bug-bear for those who have given harsh reviews, as well as the awful accents.
But for a newbie/intermediate looking for a worthwhile casual, enjoyable, good looking and sounding game - this is the bees knees and a lot better than many other HOPA games I've experienced to date. I would definitely recommend this game.
Cheers Margrave creators (and their mums!)
I recommend this game!
