I played the Beta on this one. I was prepared to really enjoy it, but the map put a stop to that. Having a transporting map (this one does) is a big deal to me, but this map only let's you transport and doesn't show where you've been, where there is action, etc. There is an incredible amount of traveling back and forth in this game, so much that one loses sight of the storyline. Too bad. I was hoping to add this game to my collection. But hey, try it for yourself, maybe you'll like it in spite of the lacking map. :-)
I don't recommend this game.

I love a good match-3 game and was excited to see this one come up. What a disappointment! I was really enjoying playing until I got into it a ways, and then came the attack of the blue bugs. Not fun at all! I play games to kick back and relax, and this game is anything BUT. The worse kinds of match 3 games, imo, are the ones that have something come along and undo all the work you've already done. At the first of this game I was sure I was going to buy it, and I'm glad I didn't do that. Then I decided to read all the comments about the game and am I ever glad I didn't buy it; I found out the blue bugs were not alone and down the road are vines. Too bad. I was looking forward to having a new match 3 game. Why do developers think we would like bugs and whatever else undoing all the work we've already done?? There was one other match 3 game that was the same, only in that one it was sand that filled the squares up. I didn't buy that one either. Developers, please stop doing that.
I don't recommend this game.

I like this game. It's not great, but it's a good one. After the demo I used a freebie and bought it. It can be played on easy, medium, and hard. I'm playing the easy because it's not timed. I don't like timed games, and I won't buy them. I like the option of timed or not. This game has quite a few differences, so it's not boring. Sometimes it's swap, then chain, then 1 click. There are also hidden object scenes between levels, and puzzles. I didn't listen to the music so I can't say how that is. There are objects to collect on the board play, and one click takes them; you collect them then you can use them to help you. You don't have to use them to make a swap, just one click on them and they're yours. After you get so many you use them to destroy areas; different ones destroy different directions. Each game has different ones to collect. I like that they aren't all the same. Same-ness is boring after awhile. You get a bomb on the playing field, and there are the usual blocks, locks, etc that you have to make a swap next to to destroy them. Each level has different colors/objects on the squares, and that's nice. There's also a town to build, but you don't choose which you want. They just do it for you, but it would have been nice if we could choose the houses, buildings, etc.The reason I gave it four stars instead of five was because sometimes the different backgrounds was a bit 'too busy' looking and that made it a bit harder to see the playing field, and it wouldn't hurt if the playing field was a little larger. I can see it ok, but it could be larger. All in all, I like this game, and I wish BF offered match-3's more often. #hint hint# lol Next to HOS, I like match-3's, especially like this one that has many different things to do, not just straight match-3 play. I see by the comments that they are not all favorable, but give the game a try and decide for yourself. Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

I've been going down the list of the Mahjong games, trying each one to see if I like them or not. Imo this is the best of all of them. I bought it right after the demo, and then I tried Escape Ancient Japan by the same developers and I bought it, too. They are both really good games. I hope they get more of the same. The tiles are nice and large, you can play the adventure or the classic; I played both. You can choose the backgrounds and the tiles, and there are locks and keys in the adventure game, and it's fun trying to figure out just where the locks and keys are. Then you have joker tiles that allow you to remove all tiles of the same kind at one time, and magnets here and there that you can use to move tiles completely away from a given area. If you don't use the jokers and magnets you get extra points. You're not timed in either game, which I like. I don't like being timed in ANY game. I like to kick back and relax while I'm gaming. As for this game, it's the best Mahjong game I've ever played, and I've already played both the adventure and the classic three times. There are so many different layouts and levels that it can be played over and over and not seem the same to you. I seldom listen to music that games have, but this game has enjoyable music, it's oriental and it's not intrusive at all, so I left it on. I like the other game sounds, too. If you like Mahjong games you'll love this one. Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

When I first saw this I thought "Alright!" I have all of the previous Awakening games and they are among my favorites. Alas, I didn't like this one at all. It was just too 'busy' to be fun for me. And part of the time when I tried to buy more energy it wouldn't work for me even though I had what it took to buy it. So I had to click out of it, and then I couldn't go any further in the game without the energy, so I tried to buy it again, and it still didn't work. On the plus side, the the art work was really good, and I liked the familiar characters. The music was nice, and I left it on even though I usually don't on games. If it fits the theme of the game, I like it, unless it's too repetitious . I would still recommend trying it out for yourselves. I could see that they were trying to create a game that had a mixture of things to do, not straight HOS, but it just didn't fly with me. Too bad, because when I first saw it I was sure I'd be adding it to my other Awakening games. I'm glad I played it first...there's been a time or two that I bought a game without playing the demo first. I would have been sorry for doing that with this one.

This is based on the one hour trial, and I intend to buy it when a sale comes along. I enjoy games that are like a fairy tale, and this one fits the bill. It has different modes you can play; I played casual, as I usually do. You can switch modes during the game if you want to. You can also play scenes over; mini games, and HO's, if you desire. You can also do a mini game instead of the HO's if you want. I did the HO's. It shows at the beginning that there's a bonus game after one completes the main game, so I'm looking forward to that. The graphics are very good, great artwork, and the animations are great, too. There's an interactive map that lets you jump to the scene you need to go to, and it shows where there is action, and where you are. You don't get the map right away, but once you leave the house and go to the outdoor scenes it shows up. There's also a strategy guide which I didn't have to use, and there's a journal. While still in the house you open the nightingale's cage and it flies out and stays with you throughout the game. (at least it was still there when the trial was up; so I'm assuming that it's there for the whole game) The nightingale blooms plants for you, and makes them grow. You collect jeweled birds and at one point it looked like it changed to an jeweled insect, but I can't be sure about that. I usually don't make a comment until I've played a whole game, but I'm doing it now while it's still fresh in my mind. I only gave it 4 stars since I haven't played it all. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long for a sale. There are characters in the game, and also fairy tale characters. they add a lot of fun to the game. Some stay with you in the inventory for use a little later, but then they leave. I didn't really like the music, I didn't think it went well with the theme of the game, so I turned it off after a short time, which is why I only gave 4 stars for the visual/sound. The other sounds were good. I had fun playing the trial, and was sorry when it ended. I think if you like a fairy tale style in a game, and HO's, you'll like this game. I know I do! I can't think of any ERS games that I didn't like. Good job ERS!
I recommend this game!

I love this game, and will play it again! Probably more than a few times. :-) You can play three different modes, I always play causal. There's not much about this game that I didn't like. First of all, it has a good map that lets you jump if you want to. I always use the map to get around in games. It shows the scenes that have action, and that's a plus for me, too. The art work is awesome, as are the animations. It's not all dark and gloomy, and the story line is excellent. Although, I didn't like the ending after playing the bonus. Hopefully it will have a sequel? I hope so! This game is a long one, including playing the bonus, it took me a little over nine hrs, but I had to stop now and then to get more coffee and tend to my fur kids. You collect roses, one in each scene, and they aren't real little and not all that hard to spot except for a few scenes. The good thing is, after you complete the game, and the bonus, it shows you a card that is surrounded by roses. The roses that aren't lit up are the scenes you didn't find any. Just click on those roses and a picture of the scenes pop up showing you which scene you missed, and it takes you right there. After you find the rose it takes you right back to the rose card. I had missed three of them, so I really liked this feature. The roses are red, but dark gray in some scenes, and in the bonus game they are mostly pink. There are morphs to find, and those aren't easy. They are mostly in the HO's scenes, and I didn't find all of them. I kept forgetting to look for them in the HO's scenes, and I didn't go back to look after finishing the game. You can play scenes and HO's over to ensure you getting all the achievements, if that matters to you. The HO's are not all easy, and they're interactive, and different. Some are objects, some are shadows of objects, and some you have to get to find the others. These HO's are tricky at times. One of the different ones, I guess you couldn't call it a regular HO scene, you click on an object in your inventory and it opens, a small square, and you find the objects in the scenes you are in. It took me a few seconds to catch on what to do, and finally I clicked on the hint and it showed me where the object was in that scene. Like I said, it's kind of tricky, but different, and I liked it. I didn't play the tutorial, and I probably should have. There were lots of mini games, a lot of new ones, but some old ones, and I had to skip a few. The new ones were enjoyable, and I was glad of that. I usually skip the old ones, so you can see I don't care if I lose some acheivements. I liked the music, and left it on for the whole game, which is not usual for me. In fact, I liked all the sounds in this game. There were voice overs, but no lip moving. There was also a part that was a story, you could see the book, and you had to find certain objects on one page before you could turn to the next page. That was neat. The whole game was a story being told, actually. I liked the voice that told the stories, too. There are so many cool features in this game that I can't begin to name them all! This is a great game, and if you like HOS games you really will like this one.
I recommend this game!

I enjoyed this game a lot. The graphics are awesome, and a lot of the scenes are beautiful. There are voice overs but no lip moving; the voices are good and fits the characters. The game has a fairy tale/ feel to it, which I like. You have robots, birds, rabbits, fun characters, and of course the bad guy. The art work is really outstanding on the characters, as well as the rest of the game. Good animation, too. You collect 21 goblins, which are not hard to find, they are not tiny, but a good size, and dark gray in color. The HOs are good, I managed not to use any hints on them, but thought I might have to a time or two. But I persevered and found the objects on my own. Some are well hidden, and some are interactive. I never saw a journal, but there's an interactive map, and it's a good one. It shows you where action is needed, and takes you there if you want to jump. I did. On the scenes the hint is helpful, showing you where you have to do something, or the direction to go. Between that and the map it's a good set-up. I was only thrown off once, and that was in the bonus game, which I played the next day. In one spot in the attic you had to put objects (you find them in different scenes) inside four fluted shaped openings and after I did that the map showed that there was still action on the same spot. I clicked the hint and it also zeroed in on the same spot. I clicked on and all around the spot but nothing happened, nor did I get the signal that something had to go there. I decided to go ahead and go to other scenes that had action, planning on returning to the attic after I did those. This was almost at the end of the bonus game, and it turned out that there was nothing more to do in the attic even though the map and hint showed there was. Maybe a glitch, or just to throw the player off? lol I've had that happen before on games where a map is concerned. But, having a map is a big deal to me. I've passed some games up because they didn't have a map.The music was good in this game, and so were all the other sounds; birds chirping, puppies growling, etc. and music is good, too. I played it low, with the other sounds turned up higher. The mini games; some were hard and some were fun, but not many new ones. I skipped several of them because they were old hat, and nothing new. I did have to skip a few though that I couldn't get. I get exasperated with the slide ones, and the ones that move everything around after you get part of it where it should be, and then the whole thing moves again. ARG! I have no patiences with those sorts of mini games, and I don't really mind if I lose an achievement over it. The game only having a few new ones is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. There are achievements you can get, like find all the goblins, play HO's with no hints, finish puzzles, etc. but I've never been big on the mini games achievements. Probably because I always have to skip a few anyway. ;-) All in all, this is a good game and I will play it again sometime. If you like this type of game, then you're sure to like it. Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

I love this game! I've been waiting for the Fall one to come out, and I was so glad when I came on and saw it, that I bought it without trying it first. Now I have all three and can't wait to see the Winter one. Boom Zap have outdone themselves with the Otherworld games, and although logic will say the winter one will be the last, I hope it isn't.
I love all three games, but I think this one is the best. They just keep get better and better! The graphics are awesome in this game, and so are the animations. The HOS are not in the same scenes, and they're interactive and a variety, like find the shape, find the object, use some objects to find others, and find fragments. The mini games are mostly new ones, but I did skip a few, unless I could guess at what to do. One problem I've had with all three of Otherworld games is that I don't see the whole screen. I have a wide screen, but for some reason the game doesn't go all the way over to the left, so part of the right side is cut off. On the mini games the text that tells you what to do is on the right side, partially cut off; I don't get to see the whole text. I've tried uninstalling the games, changing the size, but nothing helps. grrr But, I play them anyway, and will play this one again, as I have the other two. I like the music in this one, and I left the sound up, which I usually don't do, and I like the other sounds, too. The characters are so great in this game, and really rendered well. The scenery is such that sometimes I just spend a few minutes looking at it all. You collect 60 objects in this one, and they're not fairys like the 2nd one, but dragons. The wings are very colorful so they're not hard to spot. There is a bonus game; it took me a little over five and a half hours to play the game, and an hour to play the bonus.(I played casual) There are also achievements, and other things to see, like the art concept, music, etc. I like everything about this game, and if you are a fan of the Otherworld games you'll like it, too. It's great!
I recommend this game!

Wasn't sure how I'd like this game but I'm glad I tried it out. I like it a lot. I like games that are like a fairy tale, and this one fit the bill. The graphics are nice, bright, mostly cheerful, and there are plenty of mini puzzles and HO's. I think it has more mini puzzles than any game I've played so far. Quite a few of the puzzles were new and fun to do. On some it didn't really explain just what you were to do, but I figured it out ok. It was really nice to not have the same-o same-o mini puzzles that are out there these days. Though there were some that had you doing the same thing again. Like clicking x amount of colored balls, which of course were no challange at all, and after I played it a few times I skipped it when it showed up again. There were a few mini games that I had seen before, but plenty that were not. Some of the HO's are in the same scene more than once, but just finding different things. They weren't hard to do; you didn't have to strain your eyes to see the objects, although some were well hidden and took a bit of searching. One thing that I liked was very early in the game you got a knive and a lighter and got to keep them throughout the game; that's not usually the case in a game, and it was a good thing since you used them both frequently. You had to find 31 glowing bugs which were very easy to find, and in some of the scenes you had to find x amount of things like flowers, snails, and logs. This was a fun little game, and the only complaint I had was the fact of no map, so you had to do back and forth traveling. Clicking the hint showed you which direction to go, so I ended up using that a lot. It gets tiresome of having to backtrack in games, and games that have no map are a pet peeve of mine. But, I bought this game anyway, and I'm not sorry I did. I didn't keep the music on, but then I usually don't unless I really like it and it goes well with the theme of the story, and time period, and doesn't become repetitive. I only gave this game 4 stars because of not having a map. Other than that it's a pretty good game.
I recommend this game!
