I'd like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays, and above all, I wish you Peace on Earth.
"I wish you peace when the cold winds blow Warmed by the fire's glow I wish you comfort in the, the lonely time Arms to hold you when you ache inside I wish you hope when things are going bad Kind words when times are sad I wish you shelter from the, the raging wind Cooling waters at the fever's end I wish you peace when times are hard A light to guide you through the dark And when storms are high, and your, your dreams are low I wish you the strength to let love grow Oh, I wish you the strength to let love flow" -I Wish You Peace by the Eagles
It has been almost a year since Our Beautiful Earth 7 was released, and I was beginning to wonder if the franchise had ended; luckily it hasn't! I can't say that I wasn't a little disappointed that Big Fish didn't offer many Christmas-themed games this year; it's pretty bad when the biggest debut was Christmas Wonderland 14. Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas Wonderland; I was just expecting at least 2 blockbuster Christmas HOPAs which has been a Christmas tradition for years and years. This year, there were hardly any Christmas-themed games, let alone a blockbuster HOPA game...'Tis the Season For A Christmas Miracle, lol.
I've always been an animal lover, so any game that fits this genre piques my interest. It still cracks me up that one of the collectibles is a Pawprint tile that reveals a different animal each time, including Dolphins and Birds! Wouldn't it make more sense to have a Morphing Tile Collectible that changes between a pawprint, fins, and talons or bird tracks?
Did you know that there are 5 categories of bird tracks? Anisodactyl, Game Bird, Palmate, Totipalmate and Zygodactyl? Many birds have webbed feet (including ducks, geese, swans and gulls). Perching birds have 3 toes forward and 1 toe back, including raptors, crows, blackbirds, sparrows, and finches. For tracks left by waders and game birds, the rear toe is often absent.
There are 30 Levels, +10 CE Bonus Levels, to search for 18 Listed Items. Each scene has 2 Zoom Zones, 3 Cats, 1 Pawprint Tile, and 1 Camera that gives you a Photo and Fun Fact for each location. The coins earned can be used to purchase missing sections of a Wildlife scene. After each Hidden Object Scene, you will play a mini-game, such as Spot The Difference, Jigsaws, or Mahjong.
COLLECTOR's EDITION EXTRAS: 30 Scene Locations, 10 Bonus Scenes, 14 Music Soundtracks, 18 Wallpapers, 3 Cats per level, 1 Animal Pawprint Tile per level, 1 Camera per scene that gives you a Photo of the scene locations with a Fun Fact (40 total), 14 Gifts to purchase with the coins earned, and 40 Replayable Mini-games.
3-Spot The Differences 3-Jigsaw Puzzles (traditional) 3-Tetris Puzzles (place Tetris-shaped pieces into the grid) 3-Mahjong 3-Memory Match 3-Piccross 3-Suduko 3-Match 3 3-Paint 3-Word Search 3-Hidden Object Scenes (find 20 Animals) 3-Solitaire 3-Blocks (move a boat out of the harbor that is blocked by other boats) 1-Bubble Popper (shoot bubbles with animals to pop groups of 3 or more) FUN!

The developers from Boomzap wanted to show their pride in the USA by showcasing cities and states across the country. Finding America has covered The Heartland, The Pacific Northwest, The West, The Great Lakes, and now, New England. I like the fact that they are covering states that are rarely featured in traditional HOGs, and I can't wait to see which states they feature next.
There are 30 locations featured across 38 Chapters (+12 CE Chapters) with various HO modes: Standard Listed Items mode, Picture mode, Silhouetted Shapes mode, Missing Vowels mode, Riddled Description mode, Scrambled Letter mode, and Matching Pairs mode. There are a couple of Morphing Objects and a couple of Zoom Zones in each scene as well as 2-3 Interactive Tasks per scene, such as "Clean the Glass."

I wasn't expecting a Christmas Miracle here but I was expecting a Christmas HOPA...emphasis on the "A" in HOPA.
Alas, my Christmas HOPA was merely disguised as a Christmas HOG. It would seem that Do Games gave up on the genre, thus giving everyone a lump of COAL this year.

I have given all of the solitaire games produced by 8 Floor a single star for the last few years because they never change a single feature and they are never challenging...until today!
I was pleasantly surprised by how many levels I had to replay from the get-go. They stacked the deck a little thicker and every level had multiple layers to try to remove; which hasn't been the case for a long, long time.
Unfortunately, the game still ends once you have removed the last Gold Card. To make matters worse, the tutorial level and first few hands lead you to believe that removing all cards is a possibility. This just isn't the case because they purposely place the final Gold Cards on top of regular cards. For the life of me, I can't understand why they refuse to add an "option" that allows the player to continue playing, after removing the gold cards...Why wouldn't they? Wouldn't it attract both types of players? Wouldn't it increase sales?

Mosaic Saga piqued my inner puzzle geek interest because I had never heard of Babayka Games before. The pictures are stunning with vivid colors and a wide range of scenery.
I was hoping it would have a traditional jigsaw setting as well, but all it offers is Swap, Rotate, Swap & Rotate, Vertical Swap, and Horizontal Swap modes.
The Swap Mode has an option for 16-288 pieces but the Horizontal & Vertical Swap mode only has 10-35 pieces so they weren't very challenging. It would be cool if they added a Vertical AND Horizontal Swap mode which would be more challenging.
If you are a hardcore puzzle geek, this probably won't pique your interest; but if you want a relaxing, Zen game, it's perfect!
I hope this new developer tries his hands at a traditional jigsaw puzzle next...one that actually has a sorting option to organize all pieces, or a selected group of pieces neatly around the board, with the click of a button. This is a feature every puzzle geek wants, but one that few puzzle games offer nowadays for some odd reason.

Oh Bloody Hail, Mary! You think you've got problems? I just spent the whole day looking for shards of anything remotely close to a Mystery Case Files game and came up empty-handed. Where's my MCF gadgets, where's my Rube Goldberg Door puzzles?
Grandma created a top-notch game. This truly is leaps & bounds better than 99.9% of the games being offered nowadays, but it doesn't feel like a MCF game and Bloody Mary doesn't seem like a case for the Master Detective just because the Royal Scepter was stolen.
Most of the characters seemed like bumbling idiots. Why would they expect the Master Detective to find their lost keys, keycards, and inventory while they just stand there doing nothing? Talk about prime targets; they didn't even know what exactly was stolen! By the time I was introduced to the security guard Fred, I knew I wasn't dealing with the top brass. He lost his keycard to the security room for Bloody Mary's sake...don't worry, I found it in a cube that I had to melt with a zippo lighter!?!

Five BN Games are in a different league than all other HOPA developers. No other developer in this genre is able to produce games that even come close to the quality of entertainment Five BN provides! New York Mysteries: Power of Art is a perfect example of how entertaining a HOPA can be when the developer doesn't spew out a new game every month as other developers do.
We have waited 5 long years for a new game in this series, so I thought I'd recap the storyline of the games in order.
New York Mysteries: Secrets of the Mafia: New York, 1955 had become a dangerous and corrupt city. Tensions escalated with the disappearance of five Mafia bosses, but when children began to disappear one by one, the city began to panic.
This mysterious case drew the attention of Laura James, an up-and-coming journalist from "The Daily News" determined to solve this seemingly unsolvable case. When Laura's investigation starts to unravel the threads of a secret society hidden in a vast network beneath the city, she soon realizes that she is the one under a microscope and has been since the beginning!....

I glanced at the CE version when this SE version was released today, and when I saw that it got a 1.8 average rating, I thought to myself, I've got to see if this game is as bad as everyone else thought it was.
I downloaded the game and quickly realized that I had not only played the CE version, but I even reviewed it!
I guess that pretty much says it all...the game was so boring, it didn't even register that I had already tried it!
Since I'm already here, I may as well pose this question again: Why is Do Games trying to pretend they are not the developer for these dud Hidden Object Games they have been spewing out lately?
They are trying to pretend that the developer is Relax Games, and they even denied that these are indeed their games when I contacted them!
If this game isn't by Domini Games, then why is there a picture hanging on the wall on the second level of an Orange Origami Dog? The same origami dog used in Domini's infamous logo? Why do they include a ring with Domini's logo as one of the hidden objects? Why are all the features exactly the same as in Domini HOPA games, the same Achievements feature, the same Collectible Tab pull-outs, the same format of CE extras, etc. as every other Domini Game? Why do they have a section of "other games" that lists every Domini Game available to date if this game isn't by Domini Games?
The game mechanics and features are the same as in the Connection of Worlds and Secrets of Worlds game series. If anything, Hidden Object Secrets: Family Revenge is less appealing because most of the scenes are literally littered with random objects...and trash!
The HO scenes are simplistic, and you are tasked with finding Listed Items shown three at a time, locating specific areas that match pictured swatches, finding Matching Pairs, Silhouetted Shape Combos, or Replacing items back into the scene.
This DOMINI game is an archaic blast from the past...come to think of it, the reviewing process here is pretty much the same way. lol

I just wanted to let tjm1938 know that this is the Standard Edition of Twistingo: Turtle Bay. The Collector's Edition which was released in September, offers more content than this SE version. This is the scenario with all CE games at BF; the SE versions are released approximately a month afterward.
