I was really surprised and delighted at the challenge of this game.
You have:
~ Voiceover; ~ Diary; ~ Easy, Normal and Hard modes of play; ~ Collect hints as you play (light bulbs).
At first I started on the Hard mode, but that was too difficult because you don't have a "hand" or a "pointer" over any items you need. You have absolutely nothing. So I decided to play Normal mode instead which was still very challenging.
The hidden object games and mini-games were brilliant. You never play the same HOGs twice. There are also mini-games within the HOGs as well. These were not too cluttered and easy to see - but don't get me wrong, this is a very challenging game.
The mini-games can be from easy to difficult. But because you collect hints [light bulbs] throughout the game, you can use these if necessary. I think I ended the game with 10 hints still to go.
The graphics were perfect. You can see everything perfectly.
There was quiet music in the background which was unobtrusive.
The story line is easy to follow.
I played all the HOGs and mini-games - there are so many to accomplish which I really enjoyed.
Overall, I definitely recommend this game. Perfect for expert fishies who like a challenge.
I'm now going to check out if there are any more games from the N.Tri Studio developers. Hope so.
You’re on a train in the middle of nowhere, and a band of dangerous thieves demand you tell them where to find the Hope Diamond’s shards. As the newest Hidden Expedition recruit, you’ve got to find the shards before they do…
~ Voiceovers ~ Four modes of play: Explorer, Expedition Guide, Journey Master and Custom [make up your own level of challenge] ~ Achievements Board ~ Collect 49 Institute [sun] symbols ~ Collect 20 Cards ~ Collect 17 morphing objects [in Bonus games as well] ~ Interactive map.
I played in Custom mode and made it as hard as it could.
The hidden object games and mini-games are very easy to play.
The graphics are great and easy to see everything. The music was okay.
My only problem was its challenge. Way too easy for an expert but would be ideal for a beginner or intermediate fishy who want to get the experience and have fun achieving it.
Overall a good game. Had fun playing it and definitely recommended for new players.
This game is way beyond awesome. So challenging and fun.
You have Easy Knieval, Swallow Hard and Monstrously Tough modes of play. There is a mode called "Alister's Watch" in the bonus game.
I played "Monstrously Tough" throughout the whole game. Gawd it was hard - really hard.
There is also:
~ Jump around map ~ Note book [with games to play inside it] ~ Achievements board [which are fans] ~ Mutoscope film [to watch videos] ~ Rescued board ~ Find Bobbleheads for your collection [morphing - watch carefully for those] ~ Find 20 secret cards [and then play Solitaire to get extra pounds] ~ Shop for Isis the cat [find old pounds and coins throughout the game to buy items and potions for Isis] ~ Secret room [in the bonus section].
The graphics and music are superb. Hidden object games are crystal clear and there are little mini games within them as well.
The diabolical mini-games are true to form. They will take a while to nut out, but you will get there in the end. Once you have accomplished one, you think "Hey it really wasn't that bad". UNTIL YOU GET TO THE NEXT ONE!
MCF Studios and Elephant Games did such a brilliant job on this game. There is so much to do and play. It took me many hours to complete [days actually!] but the level of challenge was very high. I'm now mentally exhausted! No game has ever done that to me before.
I haven't played the bonus game yet, but will do so shortly. Just need a quick mental break
Definitely recommend that you play this game. You won't be disappointed.
Challenge yourself in the role of the scientist-historian-scholar of ancient civilizations and mystical legends and save your friend from the Demon of Darkness!
~ Regular, Advanced and Hardcore modes ~ Voiceovers ~ Diary.
I played in Hardcore mode, which has no hints, sparkles or skip.
This is a really unique game where you turn on lights to go to parallel rooms in the future [which is modern and bright] and then to turn the light off again to come back to the present [which is darker and gloomy] to undertake tasks . And boy are there a lot of them.
There are lots of hidden object and mini games to play. Some are challenging and some quite easy. I played them all and really enjoyed them. Some hidden objects games you actually put items back - which is fun.
You can also replay any mini-games you liked the most and rewatch any videos.
Even though it doesn't have an jump around map [which I never use anyway cause I think its cheating], because you are gathering so many items and playing HOGs and mini-games, you really need to have a good look around EVERYWHERE. I really didn't even notice.
The graphics are stunning. The music got on my nerves after a while cause its really only one piece of music which is replayed over and over again, so I turned it right down.
I played the game and the bonus, which took me many hours, so you really get your money's worth.
I also have a notebook, which I keep for every game, to write down things that I need to remember [tasks in each room, location, etc]. Otherwise I just forget what I have to do and find the next day when I go to play it again, normally because its been a long day at work and being a mum.
I think ORNEON did a really great job of this game and I'm now going to play the earlier Secrets of the Dark game. Well done.
Definitely recommend that you put this in your collection.
~ Live actors; ~ Voiceovers; ~ 4 modes of play [Casual, Normal, Hard and Professional]; ~ Achievements Room; ~ Money/Garden room - collect money throughout the game and use it to buy lovely garden items/trees, etc; ~ Diary; ~ Interactive map [you can jump around locations].
I think this game was initially going to be a Collectors Edition as I saw four leaf clovers everywhere. However, they must have changed their minds but we still get everything that a Collectors Edition would get - like an Achievements Room and an interactive map.
The graphics and audio are very good. No problems seeing anything.
There are so many hidden object games and mini-games to play. Some are quite easy and others take a while to achieve. I played them all and really enjoyed them.
The actors in the game really looked like they had a good time doing this. Professor Gustav took acting to a whole new level - he was so over the top that I couldn't help but like him.
A game is very long and you really get your money's worth here.
Overall, I definitely recommend this game. Its challenging and fun - don't miss it - go and buy it.
You have Regular and Expert Modes of play, voiceovers and a diary.
Because its an older game, there are no morphing objects, map or achievements board.
This really is a game for fishies who predominantly like hidden object games. Personally I found it too hard going and annoying with HOGs every turn you take.
The graphics are really not very good. The game is very dark and gloomy, so it is hard to see the hidden objects. Some fishies would probably like this as a challenge.
The mini games are very easy to play.
The story line is good and easy to follow. The characters are quite likable.
Its not that I didn't like the game, its just that its not very challenging and the graphics definitely let the game down.
Anyway I will leave it to you to decide if you want to buy the game.
This game was beyond awesome and I really believe it deserves a 10.
You have:
~ Voiceovers ~ Casual Reader, Bookworm, Scholar or Choose Your Own Modes of play (wow) ~ 3 stories - Main, Bonus and Hidden Chapters ~ Gallery ~ Achievements ~ Lock Inventory [whatever that means, I didn't use it] ~ PDF/Notebook to help you with clues
You need to find 45 roses and 4 hearts for your locket. There are also morphing objects to collect as well.
You have an owl called "Gears" to help you get objects that are out of your reach. Very cute.
I played on "Scholar" throughout the game and bonus. Definitely for an expert. Also played all the HOGs and mini-games.
The graphics are gorgeous and crystal clear. I've never seen such great graphics like this before in a game.
There are a huge range of different types of interactive HOGs and mini-games. Some are easy and some you really have to think about. All were a lot of fun.
The game is long and well worth your money.
I loved this game so much that I didn't want it to end. I think Mad Head Games really deserve an Oscar for this game. They put in so much time and energy into getting everything just perfect and I'm kneeling down and bowing to them as I speak. Well done. This game is everything that you could wish for and more. Definitely my most favourite game now.
Highly recommended that you put this in your collection. Christmas is coming and you can get this as a prezzie for yourself.
~ Casual and Advanced modes ~ Achievements Board ~ Diary
There are lots of HOGs and mini games to play - which I personally love. The HOGs started off being medium to play but got easier as I got further into the game. They are quite cluttered so you do have to look closely (oh how I hate feathers!). The mini games were very easy to play. The last mini game in the bonus section took the longest. It wasn't that it was hard, but it took a while to do.
The graphics are very gloomy (no sunshine, blue sky or the like) but I had no trouble finding clues or navigating around.
The music was quite haunting but nice. If I like the music, I tend to turn it up loud.
There is plenty of running around to do to collect objects, clues and the like which is a personal favourite of mine.
Its quite a long game and the bonus is lengthy too. You get an achievement if you play the game under 8 hours, but I failed that one. However, because I played all the HOGs and mini games without hints or skipping, and because I like to take my time and have a decent look around everywhere, I took no notice of that achievement.
I also played Curse of the Black Water a while back by the same developers and found that I enjoyed that game more. I think it is a later game and the developers may have taken on board what people like more.
Overall quite a good game and I will be keeping an eye out for more games from these developers.
There is an awards and citizens board to look at so you can see your achievements.
Even though it is a timed game, you can build up your supplies, food and gold by playing for bombs, fireballs, hammers, hourglasses (extra time), lighting, scarabs, water buckets and lots of other things.
I bought this game to play in between the big adventure games. Sometimes when I feel a bit burned out by playing big games, a game like this is like a nice interlude.
The graphics are very good and easy to see everything.
The music is mainly about three songs I think which are played over and over again, but they're quite pleasant and not in your face or over the top.
There are also Tourney and Blitz games to play after you have played the main game. You have to try and beat other peoples scores to get your name of the board. This can be quite challenging.
I also played Cradle of Egypt which was a much more challenging game to play - if that is what you want. So you can pick either one of these games and be quite contented.
Overall a good game and definitely recommended. I will definitely be playing this game and Cradle of Egypt over and over.
A mysterious fortune teller has foreseen her demise at midnight this very day. Can you find the soul who seeks to kill Madame Fate? You be the detective.
I bought Madame Fate many years ago and played it about 3 times back then. When the new sequel of MCF Fates Carnival game came out recently, I thought I would play this game again to get back into the swing of the characters and the like before I played that game.
Oh how I forgot just how challenging it was. Even as an expert fishy I still had to get hints cause I had forgotten where a lot of the items in HOGs were.
This is a true HOG game with mini puzzles at the end of each scene. Its not like the mini games are hard - its just that you have to figure out what to do - before time runs out. So get comfortable cause you're in for a treat.
The graphics are not great. The HOGS are very cluttered and hard to see everywhere, but the overall ambience of the game is well worth playing. There is something oh so magical about this game. So that's where the hints come in.
When I had finished the game, just like back then, I really felt I have accomplished something.
Anyway I recommend that you play this game before you play MCF Fates Carnival so you are fully aware of the story behind it.
