I downloaded this game because the title intrigued me. But alas, that's as far as the intrigue went.
Gameplay was very mechanical and jerky. By that, I mean there were numerous times when the screen went dark; or after I clicked on an item nothing happened for a second or two. Gameplay just didn't flow.
To add to my frustration, items were tiny and difficult to decipher. Another issue was the tiny script font used for the HO scenes and the dialogue. It was difficult to read because it was so small and light. In fact, I actually had a headache by the time I had finished the demo.
Considering that games are supposed to be fun, I don't recommend this one.
I seldom buy a CE game because the added extras usually aren't worth the extra cost. But the storyline was so intriguing that I purchased this one after the sixty minute trial period was over. What a mistake! Please don't waste your money on this Collector's Edition -- wait for the Standard Edition to come out. All you get with the CE is a VERY short Bonus Chapter, goofy wallpaper and 20 small photos of poorly drawn concept art.
THE UPSIDE:
* Fairly decent graphics overall * Great voiceovers * Didn't time the game, but didn't feel cheated due to it being too short. * Hint & Skip bars filled quickly * A nice mix of puzzles and HO scenes. Half of the HO scenes were matching pairs of items * Built-in Strategy Guide * If you liked the music, you could go into the Extras and re-play the soundtrack
THE DOWNSIDE:
* Most of the HO scenes were dark & it was difficult to find what you needed. Some objects weren't drawn very well either. * There was no map so you will have to do quite a bit of backtracking * While the Hint flask refilled quickly, it didn't help you by suggesting where to go next. It would just say "Nothing more to do at this location right now" * Many areas still sparkled even after you had completed them and there was nothing left to be done * The beginning of the story wasn't put together well. * The ending was weak and rather disappointing * The Bonus Chapter was very short
I can't recommend paying $13.99 for this one. Wait for the release of the Standard Edition.
I don't recommend this game.

Escape Whisper Valley
A sudden rockslide has left you trapped in an abandoned mountain village. Can you find the clues that will lead you back home?
This is yet another boring installment from these developers. The game opens with you being stranded in an abandoned valley and you will need to find your way out. And that's where the storyline ends. Gameplay is one hidden object scene after another, with the same minigames thrown in between. Sadly, they're just not interesting enough to break up the monotony.
If you simply want to sit and find hidden objects for a few hours then this is the game for you.
I don't recommend this game.

This developer needs to hire some new talent and try a different approach to their games.
Their "Escape" series is dull and repetitive. There's really no thought process to these games and no storyline. Strictly hidden objects scenes with the same minigames in between. You collect certain items throughout the game and then you use them at the end to "escape". The whole process is a big letdown.
First, the demo version of this game is NOT an hour long. You're allowed to play only up to a certain point, which is usually an indication that the game is short. And, according to other reviewers, that is most certainly the case.
Graphics, audio and storyline are okay. Puzzles were more plentiful than HO scenes, which was fine with me. However, instructions for the puzzles are lacking. The HO scenes are interactive, and a bit on the dark, fuzzy side. But objects are easy to locate. The Hint and Skip buttons fill quickly. There is no map, but gameplay is rather simple so you really don't need one.
I too felt I had played this game before. However, I think it's just because this developer "borrowed" certain aspects of other games to create this one.
It's not a bad game really. It's just that there is no "terror" as the title suggests, there's no riveting storyline, and you do get the feeling you've played the game before. I'll give it a "weak" recommendation, but I wouldn't pay full price for it. Snag it when it's a Daily Deal or Catch of the Week.

I don't understand how this game got such rave reviews. It's the same old Zuma of 6 or 7 years ago. There's nothing new about it at all. There's the same old dopey humor, the same characters, same marbles -- and gameplay gets difficult very fast. I guess some people just like this type of mindless marble shooting, but it's way too boring for me. And the fact that the levels get difficult really fast is more aggravating than entertaining.

I'm not sure why this game never took off, but I've owned it for 6 or 7 years now and still play it every so often. You won't see it available anywhere else except here on the Big Fish site.
The game has a fun, magical storyline without a lot of dialogue. Gameplay starts out fairly easy and then gets progressively more difficult. You'll have fun serving potions to wizards, witches & mages and even have to deal with a mischievous little dragon. Graphics and sound are still great even after all these years.
Download it and give it a try. See if it doesn't become one of your favorite games too!

I'm not sure why this game got such rave reviews, but I couldn't force myself to finish the 60 minute trial period.
The storyline seemed intriguing, but it gets lost in all the hidden object scenes. There's one everytime you turn around. And a lot of the objects are not well drawn, which made it doubly frustrating for me.
Another downer was the fact that you cannot skip the puzzles -- you have to suffer through them or consult a walkthrough. Sorry, but if "lock-picking" puzzles are not my favorite, I should have the option of skipping them.
And the fact that most of the reviewers here complained about the lousy ending, was the final reason I quit playing. There's nothing worse than getting all involved in a story and investing hours of gameplay, only to find the ending abrupt or ill-fitting.
I don't recommend this game unless all you care about is the hidden object aspect.

The first thing that struck me about this game was the old school graphics. Considering this is a large file game created just 3 years ago, one would expect much better graphics. After I got past that, it then took me a good 40 minutes to re-assign new keys to the game's commands and read through instructions. You also need to decide if you want to play 1st person as Sherlock Holmes or 3rd person. Realistically, a 60 minute trial period is just too short a time to evaluate this game. After all, this is not one of those games you finish in 5 or 6 hours -- it will take days to complete.
Having read all the Sherlock Holmes stories and seen almost every Sherlock Holmes movie ever made, l didn't like the developer's portrayal of him. He looked like some sort of street thug. And the dialogue between Holmes & Dr Watson just went on and on, which was out of character for both men.
If you're a person who likes spending several days to finish a game, and you don't mind a lot of set-up & instructions on how to play, then this game is for you.
I'm the first one in line to play those dark, gothic & scary games that a lot of people don't like. But I'm also a girl who likes romance once in a while. Granted, this one is about murder and ghosts, but I loved it!
Graphics were beautifully done, as was the music.
Script and dialogue were believable and well written. You'll also pick up handwritten letters along the way -- make sure you read them all.
Hidden object scenes were clear & easy on the eyes; and there weren't that many of them.
The Hint button recharged quickly, but the Skip bar took forever to fill up. So that was a good time to take a break and get myself a snack, lol. But I only skipped a couple of the puzzles/minigames because most of them were different, challenging and fun.
Even though I kind of knew who the murderer was very early on, I still got totally immersed in the storyline and found this game hard to stop playing.
Full of intrigue and romance, I highly recommend Death at Fairing Point
