Unless the other reviewers were children, I'm not sure how any game-playing adult could give this a high rating.
I played the demo for an hour and was able to acquire 4 out of the 7 cassette tapes -- which tells me the game can't be very long.
The storyline sounded inriquing, but it's geared more for children. It's not creepy or scary. There's no ominous music or things jumping out at you. It's very obvious all along that the "red ghost" the orphan children are seeing is actually a person in a red hooded cloak.
The music and sound effects were okay, but the graphics looked more like sketches or drawings.
Puzzles are simple and the hidden object scenes are extremely basic and easy. The only thing I liked about the game was the was the video at the beginning and the great voiceovers.
I would not recommend this game for adults unless they were new to computer gaming. And I wouldn't pay full price for it. Wait until it's offered as a Daily Deal or Catch of the Week.

First, I take issue with Big Fish's description of this game. There are NO "intricate hidden object scenes" -- they are straight seek and find; no interactive play. And there are only a few poorly designed puzzles to solve. Misleading game descriptions are not fair to us gamers. Okay, now for my quick review:
PROs:
* Graphics are excellent and the gentleman playing the lead character has a wonderful voice. * Music and ambient sounds fit perfectly. * The Hint button recharges quickly in Casual Mode and will point you in the right direction without having to re-charge. Since there is no map, this feature comes in handy. * Storyline is quite good up until the ending.
CONs:
* The game is ridiculously short. After playing the hour demo, I purchased the game and played for only 25 minutes more. * The ending is abrupt because the game is to be continued. Not only was I shorted game play -- I was denied a decent ending. I'm not sure who will buy the sequel considering we all know the first game was only 1.5 hours long.
I wouldn't recommend buying this game. Play it for an hour and be satisfied knowing there is no ending to it.

During my first twenty minutes of Shadows, I had decided I was going to give it a 5 Star rating so I bought it. Graphics were great, sound effects totally fit the game, and the main character's voice was perfect. The storyline was a bit different and engaging. There was a journal and a map that actually took you to where you wanted to go. The Hint & Skip buttons refilled quickly. All sounds good, right?
Not so. The first few hidden objects started out being slightly interactive, but quickly became overwhelmingly time consuming. And there were just SOOOOO many of them. Everytime I turned around there was an HO scene and you couldn't just breeze through them -- you had to solve them. That is what totally sucked the fun out of this game, at least for me.
The puzzles became annoying also. Instructions for completing them were either incomplete, confusing or totally the wrong instructions for that particular game. First time I've ever seen minigames with the wrong instructions attached to them.
The final straw was the grand finale cutscene that tied up the entire game -- there was none. All I got was a black screen with music, and then the Credits started rolling.
So sorry I didn't play this game a bit longer before buying it. I would recommend this game if you like tons of interactive hidden object scenes. Otherwise, not so much.

I love the SciFi Invisible Man theme, and I found the storyline for this game was well thought out. But after playing several scenes, I became quickly disillusioned.
While the sound effects, music and voiceovers were okay, I found there were way too many HO scenes and very few puzzles -- which were really easy to solve.
But, what really killed my desire to play this game was the darkness of the scenes. After about thirty minutes, my eyes were going batty and I started feeling stressed out. An option to brighten one's monitor display would have made all the difference with this game.
The only challenging aspect of The Invisible Man was being able to SEE!! Would recommend you stay away from this one.

Where did Big Fish dig this one up?? This game is tiny in size but took forever to download and install. Then, when I went to play it, the game appeared upside down on my screen. The only time that's ever happed to me was when I tried to play an old CD adventure game that was ten years old.
So, being the curious type, I did some research on this German developer and found they do not publish games outside of Europe and that they produce games primarily for 8-bit systems. Airline Baggage Mania does appear on their website with some rather old school-looking game offerings, but I didn't feel like translating their site into English to investigate further.
This developer can be hit and miss with the quality of their games, but Children of Silence is the best of their endeavors, in my opinion.
The suspenseful story kept me totally immersed in the game. Dialogue was well written and voiceovers were perfect. The characters were totally believable and really sucked me into the feel of the game.
I'm not fond of tons of interactive hidden object scenes, but I was willing to put up with them in order to keep moving forward with this totally addictive story.
Puzzles were unique -- some were easy, some were really difficult. But, the Hint and Skip buttons, when playing in Casual Mode, recharged super fast. You could also hit the Hint button if you weren't sure what to do next.
The length of this game makes you feel you really got your money's worth. The ending is tied up beautifully, and leaves room for a sequel, which I hope will be just as spectacular as this offering.

I usually love this developer's products, but this game was really odd. It's almost as if they have a totally new team of talent.
Graphics were flat and cartoonish.
Poor introduction to the storyline and characters. And the story continues in a haphazard sort of way, in that the dialogue is terrible -- it switches from fairy tale type to modern day.
Hidden object scenes were frustrating. It took several clicks sometimes to pick up an object and put it back into the scene where it belonged.
Played the game for 25 minutes and couldn't take anymore of it. Something that's never happened to me before with a game from this developer.
First, there is no way to beat this game before the demo period is up. The only possible way to do that would be to skip the dialogue, skip the cutscenes and skip all the puzzles. And if you're going to do that, then why bother to play the game?
With that said, I forced myself to finish the demo hour just to see if I could finish the game in that time. And as I said, I did not finish it. Now for the reasons why I had to force myself to play the entire hour:
* Not sure if this would be a good game for beginners. I played it on Easy mode, in the hopes of beating the game in an hour, and there were so many sparkles that it was actually confusing as to what to do next. There was also a little clock timer that would pop up between every action you completed, which was strange and a waste of time.
* Graphics were a bit grainy but not horrible. Cutscenes were okay
* There was music but it wasn't very memorable
* There were no voiceovers, which was a mistake. Voiceovers could have made the game more bearable because the dialogue was flat and unexciting. It really did not incite you to keep moving forward.
* Lots of hidden object scenes, but no penalty for mis-clicks. So you could just sit there and click on each item in the scene until you found all the items you needed. Rather boring, as I like a bit more of a challenge
* Minigames were the usual and were easily solved. The Skip bar filled way too fast which almost tempted you not to try and solve the puzzle.

Okay, whoever heard of putting egg on your pizza?? If you think that's weird, just wait.
First, you might think the instructions and storyline are in English, but there were whole sentences I did not understand. If foreign game developers want to market their games in the U.S., Canada, the UK and Australia, then they need to hire a professional translator so us English speaking people can understand what the heck is going on. It would also help if Big Fish was aware of what they were putting on their site.
The first board you play on is HUGE but the pizza ingredients are tiny. There are red squares on the board which are not explained, so if you've never played a Match3 game, you could be lost as to what they are. It took me a minute to realize my goal was to rid the board of the red squares.
In the middle of playing, a customer pops up and says she wants a pizza with eggs on it. EGGS??? On PIZZA?? Anyway, after playing four or five boards, I was finally able to purchase tables for my restaurant.
There are powerups, but they are minimally explained and quite frankly, I didn't continue playing long enough to find out much more about them.
The only tolerable thing about this game was the music. It was a bit techno and rather lively, which I enjoyed. Sadly, this is a poorly developed Match 3 game and if you've never played any others, try Four Elements.
Obviously, I would steer clear of this game and cannot recommend it.

First, I loved the idea of a sci-fi time travel game. Finally -- something different. And after reading many of the glowing reviews, I decided to download The Secret Order.
This game could easily be a 5-Star game, and as I started playing it I thought it would be. However, there were two key points that quickly kicked it down to 1-Star.
The fact that there were no voiceovers really hurt the entire feel of the game. There is great drama in the storyline, but it is lost due to the developer's unwillingness to spring for voice talent.
Secondly, the hidden objects were just too ridiculously tiny. They weren't even drawn well. If there had been an option to zoom in on them, that would have been fine. But, after ten minutes of eyestrain, I called it quits. Not even as the Daily Deal would I buy this game.
