WOW! What in the world is happening to ERS Games? The "extras" on this game are not worth paying the extra money for. There are plenty of SE games that offer collectibles and more original story lines for that matter.
Glad I didn't listen to the 5 Star reviewers who give EVERY game 5 stars.
Graphics are quite grainy, the story line is poorly developed, and the length of the game is short. Hidden object scenes are blurry and puzzles are simple to solve. And for cryin' out loud -- who wants a little dog helper that I have to name??
Beyond the Unknown is extremely beyond predictable. If you're one of those who MUST have all ERS games, then I would recommend waiting for the Standard Edition to be released.

There are only three other reviews of this game so that should have told me how bad it was. And I'm not sure how it managed to get so many stars because this is really a poorly executed game.
There's no story line really. Graphics are simplistic -- bordering on childish. The character graphics are small and the food is small. Game play involves throwing the meals to the customers instead of clicking on them. If you don't aim exactly in the right spot, the customers get angry and you lose happiness points quickly. I made expert on the tutorial level and that was it. I kept playing until my cursor disappeared and all my customers got angry and left.
This city is clamping down on candy cravings by outlawing sweet snacks! Solve a series of quirky cases by gathering clues, tracking down witnesses, and questioning suspects to reveal the truth behind this city’s sugarcoated secret. This is a case too sweet to turn down!

I was all set to give this game 5 stars. I liked the story line immensely. The graphics were perfect for the story and the cut scenes were well done. But the longer I played the more annoyed I got, and the fun quickly disappeared.
First, the "Phantom" threatens and taunts you during the whole game. At the beginning, it added to the spookiness and feel of the game. But an hour of listening to that, I had to turn down the sound.
Secondly, the map was not stand alone -- you had to open the journal to get to the map. After exiting the map you also had to exit the journal. Totally aggravating not to mention a big time waster.
Also, the map did not transport you to your desired location, so the backtracking really took away from concentrating on the story.
Next, the hint button did not point you in the right direction. You had to go back to the map, after having to go thru the journal. And then back out of the map and back out of the journal. I was ready to scream by the 3rd hour of game play. But the story was so darn good, so I grit my teeth and played on.
But the last straw was when after putting up with all the backtracking and the "Phantom's" continuous taunting throughout the entire game, the game did not have an ending. Maybe in the Collector's Edition the game ends, but I don't think so. There's just too much left hanging for the game to conclude in one bonus chapter of a collector's edition.
I could just kick myself for buying this game and for wasting six hours playing it.
Graphics were okay. Scenes were drab and dreary to match the story. Voice overs were adequate and the Hint & Skip buttons refilled quickly.
Now, for what was wrong with game play:
A lot of times when I clicked on an area of interest, there was no explanation of what was needed or why it was an area of interest.
Hidden object scenes were easy, as were the puzzles. No big challenge at all.
The map was useless. The locations were NOT labeled and the map itself was crudely drawn. I couldn't jump from one location to another, so I had to use the Hint button to point me in the right direction.
There was no way to lock down the Inventory section. This was especially annoying when I had to remove four screws and the screwdriver kept returning to inventory after each screw removal. The constant bobbing up and down was maddening.
There was blood everywhere. No dead bodies but dark, rusty, bloody scenes no matter where I turned.
The story line was poorly developed. There was no emotion or drama when the woman's daughter disappeared right in front of her. In fact, I sort of forgot the purpose of the game was to find the daughter. And, after playing for a few hours, the ending was abrupt and disappointing. I'm getting so tired of game developers who don't hire real writers who know how to wrap up a story.
I wouldn't recommend the game for purchase unless you could get it as a Daily Deal or Weekly Catch and just wanted to mindlessly waste a few hours.

This 7th installment of the World Mosaics series should be the last -- unless the developers can come up with something original for a change.
* Game mechanics are the same. Nothing new or original. Still have the same little light bulb icons for hints and the same annoying sound effects. * The playing grids blend into the background pictures making it difficult to see what you're doing. Too much eye strain. * There's no description of the item you're trying to decipher which makes it very difficult to even guess where to put your markers. * There's no final score tally which would be nice if you wanted to replay the game and try to beat previous scores.
I LOVED World Mosaics 1 thru 5, but the developers have gotten really lazy with 6 & 7. In fact, I sent them an email telling them exactly what I stated here.
If you are new to the World Mosaics series, play WM 3, 4 & 5 for some great fun with Fairy Tales and Holidays Around the World. THEN play this one and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Loved everything about this game except for two things. Yes, the graphics were great, sound effects were perfect, voice overs were well done, puzzles were super challenging and the story line kept me interested.
HOWEVER, I found two issues with the game that bothered me the entire time I played. First, there was no transport map. Yes, there was a map but it didn't allow me to jump to the area I wanted to visit. I still had to run back and forth many, many times to get to the same places over and over again.
The other bothersome issue was that the Inventory didn't lock and was extremely sensitive. Every time I got anywhere near it, the stupid thing kept popping up and down. I would attempt to back out of a location and the Inventory bar would pop up instead. It was very distracting and frustrating.
Others may not find these two points as negatives, but to me, they brought down my rating of the game.
It seems this developer's goal was to shock & scare the player using lots of blood, gore, creepy disfigured creatures, occult images & things screaming while jumping out at you. But, in achieving that goal, they failed miserably on everything else.
The story line gets lost amidst all the carnage. The graphics are cartoon-like and the hidden object scenes are blurred most of the time. The background noises are mainly screams. Voice overs are few and poorly acted, which added to my dislike for the game.
There are only one or two items to explore in each location which makes for a boring adventure. Game play is very linear -- you'll never be at a loss for what to do next.
Many found this game to be entertaining, but I found it disturbing and a waste of time.
I don't recommend this game.

Dark Manor: A Hidden Object Mystery
The bayou. The roaring 1920’s. A supernatural secret. Step into Dark Manor, where ghostly hosts will help you find your way! Beautify your manor today!
Is this what games 10 years from now will look like? Good heavens, I hope not! This game was annoying, to say the least. Plays just like a Facebook or iPhone app. It reminded me of Zombie Island or any of the other poorly developed generic games Facebook has to offer.
