I love true TM games, not the sim or building types. So, I was thrilled to see Big Fish release this new TM game. Unfortunately, the game itself is far from thrilling.
I actually don't mind extensive clicking as I'm coordinated enough to handle it. But this game is just the opposite. When a customer comes into your store, you have to drag your sales clerk over to the customer. When the customer chooses her outfit, you drag the clerk over to the outfit and drag the clerk back to the customer. When the customer wants to try on the clothes, you drag the clerk over to the dressing room. Gameplay is so clumsy and frustrating that I couldn't stand it for more than ten minutes. Clicking on each action would have been quicker and less aggravating. Graphics are rather amateurish. People and items in the store are small. I'm not sure what the developers were thinking on this one.
I don't recommend this game.

First, the storyline was gripping enough to keep me riveted to the game. However, the ridiculous amount of hidden object scenes drove me crazy. They popped up constantly, and were often the same scene and the same objects to find. There were many times I quit playing just to get away from the hidden object scenes. So, for me, this was the foremost reason for not giving this game five stars.
Secondly, there were supposed to be workers in the asylum but I never ran across anyone else except for the few "patients like me" who were there. You'd think since I spent the whole game traveling up and down in an elevator that I would have run into someone else.
Also, the ending was a major disappointment, especially since the developer has not come up with the sequel yet.
But here's what was great about the game:
* It was lengthy -- I definitely got my money's worth.
* Music & sound effects were perfect
* Graphics and the creepiness of the asylum were top-notch
* My particular "gift" was transporting myself using photos, which was an interesting concept.
* Storyline was almost believable and the dialogue was well written -- it was not too excessive
* Minigames were enjoyable and the Hint & Skip buttons recharged quickly.
If you can put up with an excessive amount of hidden object scenes, I highly recommend this game.
I recommend this game!

Usually, when a developer offers only a 30 minute trial, it means the game is short. However, I totally got immersed in the story and decided to take a chance on buying this one. Am I ever glad I did!!
The storyline is engaging -- I was hooked right away. There are no voiceovers, which would have been nice, but the absence of them does not detract from the game. Graphics are crisp and fit the tone of the game. Music is not irritating which was a plus. Hints recharge quickly as does the Skip button. Minigames are different and some were quite a challenge, but can be skipped if you get too frustrated. There's a map and a journal which are really helpful.
But what I loved most about the game, in addition to all the above, was that my name was incorporated into the story and the characters talked directly to me. I thought that was pretty cool. And the fact that my character has a great sense of humor also added to the fun of playing this game.
There are two modes of gameplay and if you collect at least 20 lions, you can play the bonus minigame at the end. All in all, a very entertaining game -- I highly recommend it.
I recommend this game!

Wow, did I ever get taken in by the title of this game. There was no love interest or romantic storyline whatsoever, so I have no idea why it's called "Love" Chronicles. It's just a poorly developed fairy tale that just got worse as the story progressed.
* Characters have no substance or personality, so I found myself not caring what happened to them.
* You get a quick overall description of the basic story and then you just start solving tasks.
* Dialogue is poorly written. I got the feeling I was reading some middle schooler's English composition.
* No voiceovers, which added to the tedium.
* There were a lot of minigames which was great, but I skipped half of them because instructions were vague.
* Graphics were okay, but nothing outstanding.
* Gamplay was fairly linear -- you really couldn't get lost. And the hint button quickly recharged so I didn't have to think much if I didn't want to.
* It's not the worst game I've ever played, but I'm thankful I paid only $2.99 for it.
I don't recommend this game.

I'm not sure why Big Fish is re-releasing Syberia II as Syberia Parts 2 & 3, but I've owned this game on CD for a couple of years now. It's gripping, yet touching storyline has left me sad because the creators never did come out with Syberia III.
Anyway, I know you'll become just as immersed in the game as I was. Graphics and scenery are crisp and imaginative and draw you right into the plot. Voiceovers and dialogue are superb, as are the sound effects. You feel as though you're right there traveling in the cold and desolate lands of Syberia. I used a walkthrough just once, only because I wasn't paying attention and overlooked something. I highly recommend this game, but it's important that you play Parts 1 & 2 first so you can fully understand and appreciate the characters and the story.
I recommend this game!

I normally love all the games from this developer, but what were they thinking when they released this one??
It's like they couldn't agree on the subject matter, so they ended up with an "Occult-Monster plant-SciFi-Magical-Medieval" mess! At the very beginning of the game, after choosing to bypass the tutorial, the tutorial pops up anyway. Not a big deal, but why bother asking? Anyway, here's where the "story" begins. You and your daughter are new in town and want to check out some schools. So a school bus, not a public transportation bus, takes you to a school that's been closed for 40 years and leaves you there. After noticing that the school looks "gloomy", you spot some creepy plants with eyes, but you're not too concerned about them. All of a sudden * POOF * your daughter, who was standing next to you, disappears. But, that obviously doesn't bother you either, because you don't say a word about it. Then a poorly drawn witch appears and tells you she finally has the last child she needs, and disappears. You then see a man sitting on the ground, babbling about how everything is all his fault and he wants you to locate all the missing pages to his journal. That's when the witch comes along and he disappears too. And again, you do not seem overly surprised at this. Wish I could tell you more, but that's when I exited and uninstalled the game. A lot of reviewers gave this a high rating -- maybe the storyline didn't matter to them, but I found it utterly ridiculous.
I don't recommend this game.

I have seen only one awesome game series from this developer and that was the classic epic Syberia, which I own on CD. After that, it's almost as if their budget or resources were cut and they started putting out cheap, cookie cutter rubbish. So, whenever you see an "Extended Edition" game by Mzone/Solilab . . . RUN!! Run far, far away. They are the only developer I know who can take potentially great storylines, or timeless tales like Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde, and turn them into horribly tedious games. I tried to play this particular game for an hour because I saw some promise in the vampire storyline. But, I didn't make it. Graphics are flat, and some characters don't even have faces -- they're just black silhouettes.. The dialogue is silly and juvenile. Instructions for gameplay and minigames are sketchy. I agree with all the other reviewers who hated the subway to get around. There were two minigames I ran into that I wasn't allowed to skip. Once I figured out how to solve the second minigame, my "drawing" wasn't deemed correct and I was forced to start over. After the third time of starting over, I decided I'd had enough. Seriously, don't waste your time on this one.
I don't recommend this game.

I played the demo for 34 minutes and just couldn't go on. I believe this game is meant for children, especially when playing in casual mode. First, the storyline and dialogue were juvenile, as if written by third graders. Example: There's a secret room in the mayor's house, but the mayor doesn't know where the keys are or where the room is. It then takes you approximately ten seconds to find the secret room because it takes up an entire wall. Graphics are flat and portrayals of characters are weird. Example: The creepy mayor is in a short sleeved shirt, wearing a top hat, just hanging outside his house late at night. I was tempted to stop playing at that point, but I wanted to be able to tell you more, so I kept going. Every time you click on an inventory item to use it, the screen goes black for a few seconds and then you're shown the item being used. So, gameplay is clunky and mechanical. The written dialogue stays on the screen way after the character speaks it. And you cannot click through it - you can only skip it. The hint system is actually a walkthrough. It will give you eight or nine steps all at once, which totally plays the game for you. THAT was when I uninstalled it. I wouldn't bother downloading this one, but you might be tempted to do so -- just to see how bad it is, lol.
I don't recommend this game.

First let me say you do NOT need to purchase the first two games of this series. Now that I've played "Origin", the first two games make a lot more sense. Now, onto my review: This was one of those rare games that I couldn't stop playing. The graphics are astounding, but the extraordinary music made the game totally addictive. I wore headphones and actually felt I was in a movie theater at times -- sound quality and voiceovers were superb. The game is highly interactive, even the map. Minigames are not impossible; they just take a bit of logic & time to complete. Hidden object scenes are not overly plentiful and items are crisp and fairly easy to spot. The storyline was suspenseful, filling me with dread at times. There is a lot of backtracking, but when you get overwhelmed or lost, the hint button is there to tell you which way to go and best of all it doesn't have to re-charge when you're only asking directions. This is a totally immersive game -- download it today!
I recommend this game!

First, let me mention I don't really care for straight hidden object only games, but I was willing to take a look at this one. I thought it would be a good game for just zoning out. Nope. Wrong. This thing actually gave me a headache.
I've seen this type of hidden "mess" as a mini game and can't believe someone actually created a full-blown game with them. Maybe if the developers used actual photographs in these puzzles, they would have been more appealing and bearable to play. I can't imagine anyone paying $6.99 for this game.
I don't recommend this game.
