I love having an adventure with the Park Rangers. Happy to see all the old familiar faces, but new scenes and new things to look for. I have all the games in this series, and play them every couple of years because they are relaxing, and enjoyable. I play the easiest level, because that's what makes it relaxing for me, but you can make it more challenging if you wish. I always recommend these games.
Main game was fine with lovely graphics and a good story line. Started the bonus, and came to a map where I had to follow directions, and could not move anywhere (following directions or not) without being told "You lose." I gave up. I should have waited for the regular edition of this game because getting the bonus was a waste.
Played the entire game with only one problem. One puzzle where you must match an inner and outer circle to make the sign in the middle, would not reset. Other than that, game play was smooth, background sounds were appropriate and not overwhelming. Colors were a little muddy, but matched the story line. I even enjoyed playing as Rachel and thought it was a good game, but Rick Rogers' personality is why I played the first one, and why I purchased all others in the series. I know something's coming up with him from hints in the game, but I want him back now. I would have given the game five stars if Rick had been in it for more than a minute.
I'm perfectly happy with the game overall, it's what I expected. I have the others in the series and enjoy playing. However, I have run into one level (find the match) where I could not play because the matches did not appear at all. I'm hoping it was just that one in between puzzle that had a problem and that there are no more.
No bells, no whistles, no light show or sound and fury, just a nice old-fashioned adventure. I will admit, I had to resort to a walkthrough twice (and there are both video and print walkthroughs available with a search), but was embarrassed each time, because I had missed looking in a dark spot, or had not examined a scene carefully enough. It was an interesting story, slow moving, but not boring. I enjoyed the little surprises along the way - find a new person when I went back to a scene, or figuring out how to make another person move when I needed them to get out of my way. Background sounds are spooky forest, and it is rather dark and murky, but I enjoyed it, and will probably play it again in a year or so, when I've forgotten where things were. I found it relaxing, and I recommend it - as long as one is prepared for a slow moving game that is reminiscent of old text games. Oh, there is one large spider, for those arachnophobes among us.

Did not finish the game. I tolerated the big red X, which was annoying, and the "spot the difference" which ignored several differences, and the total illogic in repairing a ladder I needed to climb. However, the puzzle at Rebel Ray was yet another that did not work properly (about 1/3 of the puzzles), and I decided to give up. Poorly designed game, and a waste of time and money. I doubt that I will ever purchase another game in this series.
The storyline certainly isn't. The graphics aren't. The music is annoying. The "British" accents? They hurt my ears. After the witch said, "Sty or die," I'd had it. No wonder they didn't bother with more than 30 minutes of demo. I left with 12 to go.
Not anything outstanding, but fun to play another Secret City, until I came to the Bonus Game. Got stuck on the pier because I don't have a faucet handle. There was no faucet handle where I was supposed to acquire one. Can't go back, so can't finish the bonus. Very disappointing. Sorry I didn't wait for the regular edition.
I won't be playing this one again, mostly because I already had to. My brush disappeared (last chapter), and I had to reset the game to be sure to get it, to proceed until the end. The end...where I had things left in my inventory, and the end which was disappointingly abrupt. Bonus game story is confusing. I don't own cabinets where I have to break the glass to get something out, but this detective does. He also apparently breaks parts off keys often enough to have to stock spares. One person calls her own ambulance - the other recovered victims WALK to the hospital? I don't mind substituting reality for game reality, but too many things here were just plain silly. I do not think it measured up to the previous games, and I don't recommend it.
I like HOGs, and always have! So having a plain old fashioned HOG was appealing. However, it took only 1 1/2 minutes trying to play to realize that this wasn't going to work. It was so dark, I couldn't see a thing. What a disappointment.
