When the entire audience disappears from a film screening at an old theater, you must go behind the scenes to find out who is running the mysterious Nightmare Cinema!
I liked this game. The puzzles were a bit different. Graphics were good. HO scenes were interactive. I like that the map shows where there are things to do so I can get a nudge without an outright hint.
But the game was waaaaay too short. I got through the demo in 45 minutes. The demo ends 1/3 through the game. So that means that in an hour, you're almost half way (44% of the game). A two hour and a bit game isn't worth the money however good it is.
I liked the graphics. Games I played in the demo were a bit too easy. I finished the demo in 27 minutes on easy using hints once. So this is like a 2 hour game for me.
No real story here and not many mini games. Lots and lots of HOS and a lot of the object are really teeny and almost hidden behind something else. For what it's supposed to be, it serves the purpose.
Eerie music fills the air in Vienna, where shadows terrorize people in the streets. Two musical prodigies have gone missing. Can you save them without striking a single false note?
I liked the 1st Maestro the best. But this was OK. Finished the demo in 40 minutes on casual. But the end of the demo is 31% of the way through the story. That means the game is slightly over 2 hours long for me.
This is a beautiful game. I like that you need some inventory items in order to complete the HO scenes. Good story line w/ a steampunk theme. Nice cut scenes as well. My only problem with this game is it's length. I finished the demo in 42 minutes which means you are almost 40% of the way through the game in an hour. That yields a sub 4 hour game watching the cutscenes and not using hints. That's just not long enough. Others may feel the game offsets the shortness, but I don't. So, no buy for me
I just played the demo, not the full game. I had three problems. First, lot's of running around. Seems to be the new trend. Back and forth between two worlds. Time consuming and annoying. Second, on casual setting, mini games way too easy. Here is a bookshelf with 8 books with Roman numerals and one book missing. When you put the missing book in, all you have to do is arrange them numerically. The other "tough" one was a jigsaw puzzle. Maybe the games play different on more advanced settings, but these were way too easy. Third, I just could not engage myself in the story or related to the characters. Once you got the story setup in the opening, little plot advancement during the time I played. The HO scenes were take an item in inventory and place it in the appropriate place in the picture. I find I do better with a list of words of items to find, but maybe that's just me.
I knew early on I wasn't going to buy, but wasn't even impressed by the "free" part.
I really like this developer's games. I really disliked this one. The first thing that hit me was how over the top the graphics were. I had just finished replaying an earlier Dark Parables game and the difference was shocking. This creates an additional problem during the HO scenes which are washed out, grainy and a real mess.
This was a visual disaster. But spend the time to download this huge game and see for yourself.
The previous game to this is one of my favorite with great replay value and I'm a big fan of BoomZap. I own all of the Dana Knightbridge games as well as all of the Awakening games. I really hope this is not the type of game they will be putting out in the future.
Lots more running around. Also lots more using an object in a counter-intuitive way. I played the hour and had no sense of story. I just didn't get immersed in the game and kept hoping my favorite game designer was going to make my hour as entertaining as they always have.
It's weird because I read the other reviews before I wrote mine. Reviewers would say the game is amateurish, or the HO scenes too busy, or too much running around or terrible voices or confusing cutscenes. Then they would give it 3 or 4 stars. Those things are exactly why I gave it 2 stars. Too much wrong with this game and not enough redeeming. Zeppelin scene could have had some great scenes and graphics. But the interior shots were not very Zeppelin like. Owls appear for no reason. You collect dirigibles and butterflies for why?
Just seemed to me like a mish mash. No story line even unless you read the journal.
