As others have stated, it's a little different from your usual TM/Strategy game. There are actual levels where if you don't do things in the right order you'll have to start over (because you'll run out of what you need). It does take a while to figure things out since they only sort of give you hints about what you'll have to do, plus on some levels you'll need to multitask; many a time I forgot to keep and eye on the advancing bar and had to start all over again. Ugh, plus there are cockroaches (I hate 'em). There are some chores each boy only can do too. However, I've now played 4 times and have run into some funny bugs, like one of the boys will get stuck running in place instead of doing what he's been sent to do (sometimes you can just unclick the chore and reclick it and that gets him unstuck but sometimes you have to restart that level), and on the bottle rocket level I had to play that 5 or 6 times to finally get it to work, got everything done and loaded but it wouldn't let me tell the boys to get aboard. I hope they continue this story.
Considering so many excellent TM games that have come out over this past year or so, this game ought to have been far better than it was. I had played the demo and thought the Collector's Game wasn't worth the money but maybe the regular one would be. I was wrong. There isn't any challenge at all. The graphics aren't even interesting or very well done. I play about two levels and then I'm too bored I exit and pull up some old games I've played 100 times which are still fun. I think I bought this simply because there haven't been enough good TM games to play.
I'm playing in Normal but have already run out of time (that big black grabby thing shows up) and had to restart from the last save point. Each level is far more involved than ever before, there is a lot to have to do. I do like how now many resources produced automatically go into your collection so you don't have to make a worker go get them each time, there are more new magical things to play with, and more of those hidden bonus extras, lots of which I can't find yet but I'll go back after I finally complete the whole game. I've been playing this now for 3 days, 3 or 4 hours each day. which is both frustrating and pleasing. I feel I got my money's worth.

I don't play HOB games for a challenge, I seem to play the few I do play for the graphics. This one is very well done. Some of the objects you need to find are minute and difficult to find but they are there. I was very glad there wasn't some evil being that I needed to destroy before he ends the world or something along those lines, those types of games have gotten so old and tired. It wasn't awfully challenging but that's just fine, I wanted to spend more time just looking at the background art and all the stuff in them.

I've bought and replayed all the other RT versions and I truly enjoy this game. It somehow has a lot more character than most Time Management/strategy games. Why is it that once a female-male marry, the next version she is pregnant?? Version 8 has some revisions made--building jerk around a whole lot more although they don't seem to produce more even if the guy steps on one of the speed up production mats. There are two additional people, a vet and a guy to disarm traps and pick up the animals, each of course have to have their own buildings built. Seems all buildings can only be upped to 2 tiers and I kept clicking on the "tear down" button instead of the + button, they just seemed to be opposite from where they ought to be. I played in normal mode and got 3 stars on all but 5, and those I went back and redid once I had bought all the enhancements. There was only one place in the CE additional levels that actually stopped me so I had to refer to the strategy guide. It's good to have Ron (names have changed slightly, are these guys in witness protection now?) and his crew back though. Um, seems to me that some of the call-out blurbs when they are talking to each other do not use correct English, as though English was not completely familiar to them created the dialogs--good thing you don't really need the dialogs. I also had a bone to pick with them saying that St. Bernards were the best tracking dogs--they aren't (except maybe in heavy snow), sending them into "ruins" could easily dislodge shaky rubble because of their weight along, there's also the problem of the St. Bernards getting overheated in hot conditions. I don't regret buying the CE, I'll play it over and over until more good time management games come out (and I do mean good, not that Diner Dash stuff).

I've pretty much given up doing BFG HOB games because most of them are so dark, often violent, same general plot (kill or capture the bad guy(s)). But they haven't had many Time Management-Strategy games all this year. From the sneak previews (not the demo, just the 3 windows they show you) I decided to buy this game because the rendering looked well done. They were, very very nice graphics. However, it was rather boring. The minigames weren't even very challenging, just got tedious doing the same puzzle over and over during the sword fights.

Gnomes Garden has never been one of my favorite games. It always gets very tedious after a few minutes play and it's so similar to a lot of the other TM games like this. I do wonder what initiates BFG to start a game forum since this one still hasn't got one. There are extra little thingies you can hunt for--for a while it was a sort of marshmallow with red thing sticking out of it, then it was oysters with a pearl, then it was a green frog (I think), a yellow pikachu but I don't think you get anything for finding them. Each level has one. In the CE, those levels were better executed for some reason, buildings were different from the main game, more in keeping with a gnome garden really. It got boring rather fast and I found myself falling asleep often. I just needed a game to hold me over until a much better TM game comes out. This would probably be good for young children.
I like the idea that it takes fairy tales and other fantasy stories and uses the characters in the stories. I also like that the heroine doesn't kill the baddies, just envelopes them in a bubble which floats them away. Game play isn't terribly hard and it's nice to see Rose doing some of the lifting too, although she always saves the heavy stuff for her gang and Beast. I just wish this game would go on and on and on, wish it had that nice "extra" game play that many Collector Version" had. I will replay this several times. P.S.: It's about time we got a few more TM games, been waiting a long time.

I don't like the macabre, dark HOB games, and that's what most of them seem to be these days. I like certain Time Management/Strategy games which entail timing and doing things in the quickest order, etc. but there hasn't been a challenging TM game since 2017!!!! I don't blame BFG since they are more the conduit, not the creators. So, while I'm waiting, decided to play Cruise Director 5. I've played most if not all of the other CD games. Always my immediate reaction is "why can't these people dump their recycling in the proper bin and why are these people so so so messy" and of course, "why am I picking up after these idiots?" I've never been on a cruise, can't afford it, and probably never will be. I don't exactly like all that glitz. I'm a little surprised that these couples who were have at least one previous cruise haven't become friends. For me, this game was just a way of killing time as I wait for better games.

I've played a bunch of those "Free to Play" games which it turns out are not free to play really because if you don't want to buy gems and/or coins, your progress bogs down significantly. The "action" of this game is very much like those FtP games in that there are a set number of HOB sites which you replay in order to gain resources, coins, gems, etc. needed to progress. In this game you just don't have to shell out real world money to buy thing in the game (have to pay for the game of course). I loved the renderings, they are beautiful and well rendered. I liked that I had to keep searching for the items since they basically changed each time you click into the HOB, same items but in different places. I'm sorry they didn't follow up with a new version of this game, seems Five-BN Games switched to a more run-of-the-mill hidden object format after this game and changed the name to "Lost Lands: [there are 3 or 4 further adventures starring some woman]" which you can get on BFG too. There is no "information" button so there are some things you will never be able to find, and they've locked the forum. This is one of the nicest HOB games I've played, one of the most beautiful, and it kept me playing for almost an entire week every night for hours (I know, me bad).
