There are a lot of new and different aspects to this game. Some things are way too easy, while other aspects had me going to the strat guide. If I fault it, it is that the reason one has to go to the guide is that there is no reason for having to put the thing where it must be put in order to continue with the game. There is a magic frame that lets one discover when a character has been transformed by magic into an animal and then the character lets you know things that add to the story and progress of the game. This is pretty simple, but adds a layer to the story that is enjoyable.
Another negative is that some things are difficult to see in the Hidden object areas and also outside of them because the picturing is so intense and full. Yet the scenes are, while not fantasy beautiful, they are interesting and not gruesome or filthy and are good to look at.
The hint never worked. I do not know what is with that. That is what forced me to the SG and even that does not fully clarify what one has to do, so expect to fumble about a lot.
Somehow, while I can list all these negatives, there was enough that was interesting and different that sour was modified by the sweet and I ended up liking the game a lot.
There are butterflies to find in all scenes and those are not always easy. There are also portraits that are really too easy to find also. There are magic objects that are totally unexpected...they do not morph, but they are as surprising.
I would like to know if any of these to be found things are in a scene and some way to know if they have not been found. I would like Devs to do that so we know to keep looking or that we have found them all. Please...!
There did not seem to be a way to skip things...so one seems to be required to get the game done to move on. There is the option to do a match three instead of HO game, but I hate match three...what do you people enjoy about those? I'd really like to know...message me ...
In order to make a key to the stable, one has to put the key together and then do a game to put the parts in the right place. I mention this because that is how one proceeds regularly, there is always a puzzle to do as one gets parts to get on with the adventure.
You get to play as two characters, Beatrice, who is the ongoing protagonist of the game and as a Prince who has been turned into a beast. The demo ends with Beatrice having to destroy an obelisk to free the prince from the beast magic. Her action is stopped by the wicked guy who has turned the prince into the beast and she is imprisoned...just so we can have a longer game...LOL
I did not like the easy find the parts of a butterfly in order to know the path, but I did like the very unusual and interactive HO scenes. I was thoroughly stumped for a while not knowing what to do because one does not only have to find the things in the list, there are things to do within the scene that have zero to do with the things on the list, but one can not find them until these actions are accomplished. The titles sometimes give a clue that these things are to be done, but not always...so it is a bit of a puzzle...that I am warning you about so that you will not get too frustrated...at the whole, I really enjoyed the game, and would have enjoyed it more, if I had read this review first...so I hope this really helps.
Try it...and I think you will enjoy it..and this will be a CE to buy...because you really need that SG...LOL why do the hints not work? O well it is an adventure getting through this for sure.
I recommend this game!

There are two ways to play here so that makes this two games in one. I, however, did not get the hang of the Pic A Pix side of it during the trial.
That said, I think this rates a high rating for giving a new game along with an old favorite.
I recommend this game!

I like doing these BUT I have some problems controlling my cursor so I like it when I start a row and if I stray from that row the squares I am indicating get picked up anyhow. In this game the indication gets lost completely and one has to start the row over.
I like games that cross off the numbers that are completed. In this game if you have gotten two that are absolutely certain, the game still does not indicate that.
After you have gotten the first color filled in, the rest are fairly boring and obvious. So then it is not a matter of figuring out but simply busy work coloring in the lines
One nice addition is the advanced feature that fills in the blank spaces once the row is completed. That speeds things up and diminishes the amount of clicking.
That one good innovation that I hope others will add, does not overcome the annoyance of the other aspects that I point out here, so this is a no buy for me.
I don't recommend this game.

Bad news first: Small dark things, Can not see so end up clicking mindlessly since the help does not help. Spend a lot of time looking for things that one can not see or do not know what they are like what is a crown cap? Stiff characters. Map tells where there are things to do, but hint does not help. Some game instructions not clear, so I had zero idea how to play and had to skip.
Good news: An interesting story line backed up by both mystery and science. If the frustrating difficulty of the game had not been the overall reality, this would have been a really fun game to explore and uncover the mystery. The puzzles were interesting but the one that required the green...was not clear on how to get that color to happen or whether it was simply the last one that had to be green...I do not think that one could have had a solid green from start to finish. I had to skip and I could not get far into the game because of all the things like this that were impediments due to lack of clarity about what to do.
I wanted to play the game and ended up annoyed so no buy for me. See what you think.
I don't recommend this game.

Frustration with a game that required using the hand that never moved and the pattern if I was only to follow it with the pointer, never told me I was anywhere near making it do what was required. Furthermore, things were dark enough to be hard to see. I got the mouse on the car, but never got it to go anywhere, and were we supposed to give the cat the milk? that did not happen either. Something was under the desk, but finding out what never happened either. A few times I got the right thing where it belonged, but it told me I was in the wrong place and only after trying several times did I get confirmation that I indeed did have it correct.
I thought this was going to be a good game even a stellar one, but the problems I kept having prevented me from enjoying it
Maybe for those who like a challenge that misleads you this game would be fun, but not for me. The puzzles were simplistic so there was not that to elevate the game into the realm of real challenge. There was a puzzle that required clicking on a tile and then making a path to a matching tile that was one of the so easy one is insulted variety.
Things are small and hard to see, the scenes are often slanted in some surreal way that could have been fun, but instead I got thrown out of the game entirely when I checked out some of those areas. I did not play the game more than a short time as a result.
I don't recommend this game.

If you get off on looking for stuff with little interaction you will like this and what will make you love it is the extras like finding animals and recyclables. The HOs have some really tough ones to find also. I was not happy that the circles to move in the tree stump did not move so I had to skip that puzzle. I found the puzzles more tedious than hard. They did not challenge my mind, but took time and attention to detail. I lost a lot of time looking for a chainsaw because there is so little interaction, I did not expect it to be hidden the way it was and the hint gave me no clue.
I really did not like the grainy texture of the picture along with the rather small items to find I resorted to granpa's magnifying glass...but even had it been crystal, I would have not liked it because it was just HO after HO...I know there are people who like these so should I recommend it? or stick to my own bias and say NO?
I don't recommend this game.

My word this has it all. Beauty, challenge, dragons, Chinese art, and lots of new and inventive games and HO scenes super interactive and loaded with innovation. I only played the demo and really did not get into the game deeply so I missed some of the morphing objects and things to find...but as we play demos together we had a lot of fun ... finding ribbons other such find all these things...and then the circles that have to be aligned and connecting dots with barriers and bumpers to run the lines around. Every minute you find yourself going...now what am I supposed to do with that...and a Question mark gives info and off you go to fulfill another challenge. You are on a quest to defeat evil, but the only thing wrong with the game is that there is no heart of desolation the title is not accurate...you are overcoming all that negativity and nothing is ugly everything is easy to see and well lit and the colors are delightful, not garish...o yea I am looking forward to getting this game. Hope you like it too and let devs know this is the kind of game we just delight in...
I recommend this game!

I read the best review because seeing it had only 2 stars I wondered about bothering. The review gave me hope and I said it was helpful...well it did get me to play the game and find out I hated it. Now why did I? because the pictures are blurry and small. It is an unremitting repetitious format of hidden objects to find all tiny and not at all interactive. The story line was long winded and rather silly. There were a few puzzles like 'Concentration' interspersed, but the whole game is mostly Hidden Object scene after HO scene and those not really well done. So I am adding my voice to those who say Nay to this offering but since we all have different tastes...try it you might just be in the camp with that reviewer who got me to play the trial.
I don't recommend this game.

the title says it all. there is zero innovative about this and then it is dark and ugly in an environment I would not want to go so why would I spend my happy free gaming time in a place like this? Of course if this is your idea of fun buy it, but we do vote for the world we want..I do not want this one...so no buy from me.

I was bowled over by this game. I love being able to figure out evidence and clues and interrogate suspects and catch them at lies or determine they are telling the truth. The HO and puzzles were basic good and had variants that made them more interesting...like having rebus like pictures that lead you to pick out the object sought.
I liked it so much, I got to thinking this was really CE quality. I checked and sure enough there is a CE game. Please would some fishy let me know if the additions in the CE make it a must buy over this excellent SE? How long is the game and how long is the bonus?
Which one should I buy? Let me know because I absolutely am buying one of these.
O and let me say, that although it is fairly realistically based as a story line and in the real world...the drawing and the settings are beautiful and imaginative. This could have been one of the fairy tales in how lovely things are drawn with artistic landscapes and architecture. However there are no ogres...fairies or such for those of you offended by them. I like to spend my game time in a beautiful place...keep the stinking garbage pails and blood dripping walls in dark places where drug addicts spend their time...none of that here. This is a classy place with a murder to solve...and working on solving it is the storyline that I appreciated so much.
I recommend this game!
