Based on the reviews I decided to be brave and face the rats, and thankfully the rats that I did see weren't as terrifying as the ones I have encountered in real life. I don't mind dark games either but to me this one was just sterile - nothing exciting happened apart from the gargoyle dropping through the ceiling.
The game just didn't grip me which I was sad about given the reviews from some of my favourite contributors, and the option to choose your karma..
I had to use the jump map repeatedly which is rare for me as I usually just use it when I know where I need to go and it involves 6+ clicks.
I am not putting a recommendation on this review because I think you should try it and decide for yourself - each to their own.
I found it refreshing and relatively easy to play especially after the lastest MFC game, because I needed to play a game that was not so challenging and off the wall.
At the very beginning I was a bit confused with the story line but didn't skip any cut scenes or film reels and got to grips with it just before the 1 hour trial ended - I then bought it and resumed play today, and I was not disappointed at all.
The graphics in the HOS were as usual for Gogii very good, crisp and clear, and some objects are cleverly hidden - no need to use a magnifying glass for this game as they are in plain sight, just very well hidden.
If you are looking for a fairly relaxing game who's story line is a bit different from the norm then this is it in my opinion.
My only gripe is that some reveiwers have said they skipped the cut scenes and film rolls as they didn't understand the storyline, my advice would be not to skip them as they are there for a purpose, as in they help you to understand where the game is going.
I am looking forward to the sequel because the ending certainly hinted at one - unless you skipped the last cut scene.
I recommend this game!

Awakening Kingdoms
You are chosen by Queen Sophia to restore her kingdom back to its former glory through fun mini-games and beautiful hidden object scenes.
I love the Awakening series so decided to give this one a go but I couldn't get to grips with it. It's probably just me not understanding how to play these Free to Play games as I have tried others but just I stumble around and don't really understand what I am supposed to do.
Madame Fate was one of the first games I played when joining Big Fish years ago, I loved it and have played it so many times I've lost count. When I saw Fate's Carnival today I hesitated because of the awful Shadow Lake in the previous year, especially as I had purchased it outright without a trial run.
But that lasted less than a minute because when I saw the Amazing Larry I just knew I had to trial it as he so resembled the Amazing Larry in Madame Fate. I was not disappointed at all and ignored everything else until I had saved him.
I think we need a 10 star button because this is IT in my opinion.
OK I chose casual mode mainly because I started work this morning at 6am, so at 9.30pm when I finished work I opted for casual mode.
There was no option to skip the tutorial so I figured it would automatically stop after several minutes but it didn't. The game gave me no time at all to view the room/scenery as either an arrow or hand appeared within a second, showing me where to go.
This is not a game nor a challenge, it's just a "follow where I tell you to go" thing.
The female's voice is so annoying and banal, I wanted to slap her after her 2nd sentance.
If you like games that hold your hand from start to finish this is the game for you, but if you prefer to think for yourself don't bother even trying it.
Such a shame, and such a waste of my time.
I don't recommend this game.

The Tudors
Travel across Europe as a spy and uncover conspiracies, assassination attempts, and other threats against England and her King!
This is the first time I have reviewed a game so please forgive me if I say something I shouldn't but it was dreadful. I was drawn to it because I loved the series but played only about 30 minutes of the trial and only lasted that long because I thought it might get better.
Fun Factor: Nil
Visual/Sound Quality: The visuals of Johnathan Rhys Meyers and James Frain were brilliant, it's made me want to watch the series all over again. I can't comment on the sound as I rarely have it on as I find it a distraction.
Level of Challenge: Quite high for the hidden object scenes, I knew where the skull was but it took 27 clicks before I managed to get the exact tiny spot to retrieve it!! I don't think I got to a mini-game but if I did, it wasn't memorable.
Storyline: I don't think I played it for long enough to comment but for the first half hour that I played the game for it was more of a nuisance - way too much dialogue and far too many clicks required to get through it so you can get on with the game.
