I really wanted to like this game. I mean, what's not to like - it has virtually everything - fairies, elves, cute and quaint characters to rescue, a storyteller that tells you more about the kingdom as you go through the game, an elf who shoots arrows for hints (though you can't always see them) and a fairy who is supposed to help you but never seems to have any magic (at least during my demo of play). It is a bit difficult so you will need to use that strerategy guide, which surprised me because I usually don't, so if this game comes out as an SE you may want to consider that. It is bright, beautiful and entertaining. BUT, I like to read what other reviewers have to say before I spend the money on a CE and I was just about there when........a certain reviewer gave away the ending. What then is the point of paying almost $14 for a game I know the ending of?? I have run into this problem before and mentioned it to BigFish because it has caused me to NOT buy several games that I ALMOST bought until a reviewer gave away the ending. It's like spending the ridiculous amount of almost $30 nowadays to buy a book, be in the second chapter and have someone see you reading it and tell you how it ends. Might as well throw it away. So, I will say this and NOT spill the beans....it is a magical and enjoyable journey in a magical land that you will, no doubt, enjoy thoroughly. Play the free trial and make the decision yourself whether you enjoy the game - I did. This Glam-ma gives it a big 2 thumbs up. Just not for me - it would be a waste of money because I know how it ends.
I recommend this game!

Okay haters, just give it to me now and get it over with.... I just felt there was something missing during the entire hour of play time. To me, it seemed very incohesive....nothing really meshed to make it awesome or exciting. Not even my little bat companion.
The graphics were good as were the voiceovers. HOGs not difficult nor were the mini games. The hint button took forever to recharge but, then again, I did not use the strategy guide either. I really wanted to like this game, I really did, especially with the sale this weekend but it just didn't work for me.
That's not to say you shouldn't use your own judgment and try it yourself. I'm just saying, it isn't for this Glam-ma. :-(
I don't recommend this game.

You have sent your children off on a mission to get some bread (I think) and they haven't returned home. Worried, you set off to find them and instead find a talking gingerbread man whose help is indispensable - if only he would stop pacing with that worried look on his face. And periodically he remembers things, but what he remembers just doesn't make you feel much better. You do meet other "helpers" but you have to frustratingly stop your search to help them with a problem before they will give you something useful to continue on ahead - like the old man with the code to the Inn or the Baker - sorry, free trial ended before I could figure out what she could offer me for making her pies. I do know that when the free trial ended I was like, ARGH NO!!!! With all the great CEs that have come out how will I ever decide what to get when I get my monthly check? Thank God for my daughter who gifts me games periodically. You are in a fairyland of a fairytale but you need to do whatever you can to find your children, bright scenery, fun characters be damned - you are on a mission!
The CE comes with a bonus game, art gallery, music, wallpaper, mini-games, HOGs and more, including a jump map. I did not need the strategy guide because the hint gingerbread man guided me when I got stuck very well.
The HOGs were easy enough - not tiny items in a mish mash of a mess - but that pacing gingerbread man - click the hint button and give him something to do or he'll drive you crazy. He'll wave at you until you do anyway. The mini-games were easy to, well, easier. lol It's a great beginner's game and one I think my whole family will enjoy together. Well, we girls will anyway. My dilemma is --- is this a CE worthy game or should I wait for the SE. All those artsy fartsy achievements (16 I believe and they're shown in the bottom right corner as you achieve them) and wallpapers and such mean nothing to me - it's the bonus game that will pull me in or not.
This Glam-ma says don't hold your horses, play the free trial if you must but if you don't purchase this game it will surely be a bust. Two thumbs up!! - what a short hour that free trial was today - lol.
I recommend this game!

My daughter wanted to buy me to CEs because it's BOGO weekend and I tried to convince her to wait until these 2 new games that just came out and I hadn't tried yet. But, against my better judgment I emailed her 2 CE's from my growing list. Unfortunately, I was like ARGH NO when this free trial was over and NO, I have to stop her - I want this game. It is so much fun. Never mind the dog you have to rescue and take back to the blind boy, but there are sooooo many cool extras in this game, it''s unbelievable and I don't even know where to start.
Storyline - wicked witch destroys the amulet that will take you home into pieces and you have to find it.
The few HOGs that were in the free trial were easy to do - the items easy to find, even when you had to interact with them. The Hint button - incredible - does it even have to recharge or is it always at the ready - i can't tell because it recharges in like a nanosecond. I only played one or two mini-games which were totally easy. And the hint mirror not only directs you where to go but literally pinpoints where and in what room and, of course, you can fly there in the interactive map.
The extra bells and whistles include the strategy guide, achievements for those who care (not me), wallpaper, but what intrigued me was the Book of Spells and bonus game where you explore the witches' domain and meet the ship's crew. Grant their wishes and they will help you return home.
I hope I can catch my daughter before she buys the 2 games I emailed her. It will be hard to give one up but this game is just too good to pass up on a BOGO! This Glam-ma says try it if you must - then before the BOGO weekend is over - BUY IT!
I recommend this game!

right in the middle of my review it will bounce me out and I have to start over again - maybe that's my computer's way of giving it's unsolicited opinion of this game too.
It is October 2012 (why did BigFish have to bring out this dusty old game from the vault where misfit games that no one likes go to stay is beyond me) and Jennifer has gone at her father's request to join him on a Mayan dig that has to do with the finding of evidence of a Mayan Calendar that will not establish that 12/21/12 is the end of the world but a fifth cycle of the calendar and instead of destroying the world and leaving 2 people behind to repopulate as in previous cycles, this cycle the gods promised all this power to the humans - to do what? In any case, Jennifer arrives, dad's nowhere to be found but no one seems concerned yet and so she gets right to work dusting, digging and collecting relics with his assistant. Later they go to dad's tent to find him gone, a cryptic note left for Jennifer and his tent ransacked. Free trial ends.
There are HOGs upon HOGs upon HOGs beginning at Jennifer's apartment and continuing to dig site. Some at the site are relatively easy to find the 5 teeth or 17 candles or whatever. Others are downright impossible because of the mish mash of trash (not literally) and the itty bittyness of the said items. Also, at the dig site - really - try to find upteen different kinds of snakes that can be waaaay in the distance or hiding behind trees. Then, you find your dad's secret site below ground in his tent and you have a flashlight to find 17 candles and more snakes - this is apparently snake friendly game so if you do buy it - you have my sympathies - be sure you are not afraid of snakes. Oh, and through all this you have 6 - count them - 6 hints that you may or may not be able to get back by collecting little almost invisible flowery things that pop up just enough to be barely visible.
The pics are light and grainy, the subject matter relative to a time period we would not be interested in now and one final gripe....or query.
Why in the world would BigFish put this game that got so many bad reviews in the top spot as "tomorrow's game today"? Not only that but that spot is usually reserved for new games or the opposite of relatively newer games that have recently come out (ce vs se, etc.). I've never been so disappointed to see 2 games in "tomorrow's game today" that had such bad reviews. What gives BigFish? Did you relegate game picking tonight to someone inexperienced?
I try to say something nice about every game that I review but there is just nothing good to say about this one. Glam-ma says don't even try the free trial - read the reviews and run for a better game in your own log of games.
I don't recommend this game.

I believe that in an hour's worth of play time, whether you own a game or it's and SE or CE or free trial, that you should have some idea of what's going on. In this hour, I knew Sara had a brother - that's it. Was that her father - the crazy psych guy? Did he have her brother and why? No evidence? Just a weird little tune that is played over and over (much to my annoyance) that makes no sense while she does HOG after HOG after HOG.
Along those lines, the HOGs didn't make sense, while the items were sometimes hidden among a mish mash of trash, at other times you were actually in an area where you thought you might find the items, but you still can't and have to rely solely on the hint button - more on hint button later. And I've never played and HOG that bounces you out with one item left to find only to rebounce you back in later with that one item still on the new list. Confusing? I'd say so.
The hint button? Sometimes it recharged so fast you couldn't keep up with it, yet other times it was so slow I swear I watched seasons change outside my window. What gives with that?
And still, what's going on?
The cut scenes were horrible. First, Sara is a humanoid who can't seem to move her lips but we can hear her talk. Surely, in this day and age of IT you can at least give us moving lips. Then, she becomes this cartoonish character that had me talking to my laptap, going - really r u kidding me? when she opens the secret basement door, is on the top step, sees a shadow behind her and the door closes - "OMG, what was that? Why did the door close?" Really? Maybe that's why after an hour's play time we didn't know what was going on - because Sara the character is an idiot.
I've never come across an hour's free trial game that so wasted my time and you couldn't pay me to even try to finish this game.
I don't do this often because I believe if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all but the people who count on my reviews as a key reviewer deserve to hear my opinion on the game. Glam-ma says don't even waste your hour on the free trial -- just run. There are probably games out there that are just as bad but at least will leave you with a chuckle or humor. This just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
I don't recommend this game.

The storyline is a bit confusing at first. You are a detective and you have been called upon by your mentor, Dr. Mentor, to the town of Hochwald that is being slowly and then inevitably completely ruined by a HUGE tremor caused by a big bad (really big - like half the size of the empire state building) mechanical robot. But, each time a tremor hits, all Dr. Ink says isi " this is bad and getting worse". No kidding doc! There are soldiers everywhere - baddies and the huge, big, bad mechanical robot rams his fist through the wall and kidnaps Dr. Ink, grabbing him and putting him in a cage where he is carried on the robot's back up to a castle beyond the town in the mountains. And then a zeppelin appears so, of course, you go around town finding pieces of the soldier's outfit so you can disguise yourself and get on said zeppelin. Why walk when you can fly - seriously, that's what she said - lol. There are cute things so - yes. There is an amazingly cute gold mechanical bird that was Dr. Ink's companion but gets destroyed in the last quake - but you put him together and he becomes your companion/hint. His name is Matthew (love it - my son's name). The people in town seem to being nice and helpful. Now, on to the other things I deem not quite so important but take notes on just for you:
If you click on the "extras" icon you can actually find the achievements room - you have a boatload (ok - 25) of achievements you can get and they seem to form an image of a woman. Well, not seem, they do. You also have to - well, you don't have to but you can - collect 30 mechanical bugs (11 in Hochwald, 8 elsewhere, and 11 someplace else) - you're actually told where you can find them - not specifically - but like in town, etc. And they are not difficult to find because they are bugs, mechanical and not small. I found like 5 before the FT ended (which only took me 35 mins.). There is also a bonus game called "Ink's story", along with all the wallpapers, soundtracks, etc., etc.
The HOGs that I can remember playing were interactive, the mini games easy. I did not have to use the strategy guide at all. Matthew - sorry, the hint button - magically recharged liked immediately and he boinked his little gold beak on it to let you know it was ready - awwww - sorry I am all for the cuteness this week.
All in all for those of you who like all the bells and whistles that come with a CE and this seems to have quite a few (surprised that you could actually see the achievement room and know how many achievements you get and where you can find the collectible bugs). Unfortunately, for me, I'm on a limited income and already begging family members to help me buy 3 CEs I desperately want so I will prob have to wait for the SE to come out and hope I haven't blown all my free codes on games that I already want as well.
OH, and if you hate bugs of any kind this game is not for you - mechanical and otherwise this game will not be for you!
This game was awesome and I am so sorry it ended - ARGH! I want this game!!!!!!! Glam-ma says high 5 and just get it - well, try the free trial first but I'll bet you WILL buy it afterwards.

I started out thoroughly enjoying playing this game. Collecting all the morphing objects I (and boy did I look out for them). I am a novice to CEs because finances generally require I use my free codes and just get SEs. In this case, I wish I really had just gotten the SE. More on why later.
The storyline of the game is that your husband grew up in an orphanage (or did he) and then one day a package comes, he answers the door and disappears (of course he does). You immediately drive to his hometown to try to find him and in the process you are given help (and hints) by a rag doll. Along the way in this dreary shambles of a deserted town you meet "Jimmy", "Kim", an evil clown and so on. No cutesy characters here. All in all you also have to find 36 morphing objects.
The storyline was great, the characters diverse and not an overload of back and forth. The HOGs were not difficult nor were the mini games. I think I skipped 2. I did not use the strategy guide at all. So why did I buy the CE? If you read on you will get a spoiler alert - so stop now if you don't want the negatives that really quite disappointed me about the money I spent.
I only caught 32 of the 36 morphed objects and expected in the "extra content" to at least have it mentioned - you found "x" number of the 36 morphing objects - try again - or something. No. No mention whatsoever. So why did I need to collect them? For my health? I'm OCD (lol) and really thought I would play this darn game until I found all 36. Until I started to play the "bonus gameplay". First let me say that the main game explained everything thoroughly and tied up all the loose ends very well. The bonus takes you back 25 years when all the drama began - but you already have that info from going through the game. You go back to the same areas - redo the same HOGs - literally, even looking for the same items. The rag doll isn't even there to make it enjoyable - you'll find out why in the main game. I figured maybe I didn't catch those last morphing objects because they'd be in the bonus game - not. I actually fell asleep once while playing the bonus game, tried to continue it a second time - got a splitting headache and then out of sheer annoyance - turned off the game and prob won't finish it.
You don't need the strategy guide, the bonus game is useless. And unless you want to see a few pics of cut out scenes save your money.
I don't recommend the CE but it's a good game for the SE.
I'm tired and annoyed because this game developer has never let me down before. It will be a long time before I buy a CE without thoroughly researching all reviews on the CE and SE to see if it's worth purchasing. Under "recommend this game?" I wish there was a "sort of" block.
I recommend this game!

as I finished playing the free trial at 3:30 am. Here we have a happy family - mom, dad and little girl playing happily among the flowers and grass and suddenly mom dies (?), dad disappears (?) and little girl goes to live with her aunt. Years later we see her all grown up reading a note (did the aunt die too?) asking for forgiveness for not telling her the "truth" about her parents and sending her to her childhood home where she immediately is greeted and meets a quirky fellow who becomes her "hint/companion". She places an amulet against a mirror and is transported into the most beautiful, magical, wonderland of incredibly cute creatures (like the ferret she rescues and the little whatevers you have to collect to learn more of the story). The plants float and light up and mushrooms glow and OZ should have looked so good. But, as we all know, this cannot be all butterflies, unicorns and rainbows or we wouldn't have a game, would we? Of course not. While it isn't raining, there were no car accidents and it's not dark and dreary, we do have to save the world because dad was so upset about mom dying he broke a code, went to some magical clock to turn back time, broke something else and let the monsters loose. Not literally re monsters. However, there is this shadowy entity referred to as "the fog" which can be dispelled by the sound of ringing bells. Seriously, ringing bells. Now, on to the unimportant stuff (lol).
Graphics are amazing! I have never seen such bright and colorful plants, animals, etc. - well, I guess we are in wonderland so it's to be expected. The voice overs are amazingly clear. The hint button recharges quite quickly and takes you on a clear course of where to go if you need that help so this would be a great game for beginners. The HOGs - I honestly don't remember if there were any so can't comment but the mini games really weren't that difficult. And the skip button magically appeared in seconds so I skipped in order to get back into game play. When I own the game I'll stick to figuring out the mini games. She does have to make at least one potion (but did not finish before time was up).
I have to say this was one of the most enjoyable hours I've spent in a long time. When the free trial was over I was totally ARGH! NO! and almost bought the game then and there and then the crazy went away because the weekend is coming and there might be a special I can take advantage of and then there will be DPM (double punch monday). So, as much as I hate it, I will wait - but I will buy. It's too bad you can't use free codes for CEs because I have a boatload of them. There should be an exchange policy or something - lol.
In any case, this Glam-ma is giving this game a high 5 and says go for it. This is a game you will fall in love with immediately.
I recommend this game!

I get a little hesitant to get excited about a game when I finish the demo in under 45 minutes. The mayor is creepy and you seem to have to keep saving him. The sheriff is brusque and I think a drunk. I'll bet the dead body won't be there when he looks for it. That was interesting - how you had to find the clues and put them together for the answer - very good work detective. I think I've seen that done on a tv show. The biggest shock I got was when I walked into the jail cell area and, voila, there's my friend no one seems to know about. The shocker was the nanosecond of seeing her - she turns around - there's a scream - and the demo's over. The HOGs are easy as are the mini games. The characters - hard to say since you mostly interact with the creepy mayor. The hint button recharges pretty fast and can keep you on track so you don't need a strategy guide or walkthrough - at least not in the 45 minutes it took me to play. So for an SE that's pretty good but I think it will be a short game. I'm on the fence about this one but Glam-ma says at least try the demo.
I recommend this game!
