First, let me get this out of the way before I forget. This game has EVERYTHING! Morphing objects, letters of the alphabet (although not in A, B, C order that I could tell), diary pages, fox figurines (in every scene?) and the list goes on and on. Sometimes you just happen on to something and oh, fudge, I have to collect that too? TONS of fun.
The hint button recharges quickly (now that I found it) and was very helpful.
The storyline is that you are a journalistic investigating a story on Vol Volpe -- the Fox -- who seems to have come out of retirement and is on the prowl again. Or is he? Was that him you met and who hired you? Is Vol Volpe being framed? By whom? I got all these answers just in the free trial hour. So, what's left? Gotta play the game to find out.
MY ERROR - sort of............Because I only get a shooort hour to play what looks like a great game I always play "custom" where available, and set the skip and hint button to about 15 seconds. Usually, that's all a person has to do. But, there were no sparkles, every time I hit the "hint" button I got a message "not just yet" so I'm thinking, hm....new twist - I have to find x# of fox symbols before the hint works ... uh, no. I was referring to the Strategy Guide a bit because there were times I just didn't get it. So, I went back to "Options" to check my difficulty level and said, self...let's just put it on Casual, and so I did - and a whole new world of magic appeared! ( well, that might be stretching it a bit). But things did become clearer.
I spent so much time tip-toeing around and trying to figure out what to do next and who goes where and what the heck because I NEVER play on HARD because I'm just not quite there yet. I like to go Casual and eventually i'll play the next difficulty and so on until I am playing HARD. So, a lot of time was lost because I thought I was playing Casual.
Here's the rub - every other game I've played that has a "Custom" setting, you basically only change the hint and skip buttons. Since all the other buttons were lit up like a Christmas tree I thought they were all copacetic to a Casual game. Perhaps someone wasn't doing their homework because it appears now that to get the Casual setting you had to UNDO the buttons? Weird but true. That was my error.
I think I enjoyed the game but it's hard to say because of all the time I wasted so I am on the fence about purchasing the game, even with ALL the fun things you have to find (see first paragraph). Maybe if a reallllyyy good sale hits or 2 months from now when I have 2 credits. Sigh.
Based on what/how I played, it seemed like fun, lots of stuff to collect, including achievements. I think people will like this game a lot but play it before you buy it and watch out for that Custom setting.
I enjoy putting together jigsaw puzzles and this had a nice variety of 4 "boxes" to choose from a variety of animals, sculptures, architecture, art, castles and so on and so on. The puzzles varied between straight putting them together to a bit more complicated which way does the piece go?
The music was consistent all the way through. I would have liked to had heard a variety of music maybe based on what category you were playing. There was a lot of help from giving you a "ghost" of the picture to the picture itself to giving you just the borders and .... so on. Which I'm guessing would be appreciated in the larger puzzles.
Now the bad. The puzzles ranged from a relatively easy 12/13 pieces to well over 200+ pieces. My problem stemmed from the pictures I like to do (animals, maybe castles) were either a ridiculously easy 12/13 pieces or an astounding 250+ pieces with no middle ground. As I am just getting back into jigsaws after many years away, to delve into an easier puzzle for 3/4 puzzles was nice but then to have to drastically jump to a monstrous size puzzle was, to say the least, unsportsmanlike. One would rather prefer to start easy and work the way up to monstrous size.
You have 4 "boxes" to work your way through - each page (22 pages in each "box") has a variety of pictures to choose from.
If the developer just would have had a more middling ground I would have purchased this immediately. But for that reason this Glam-ma is giving it a pass.
Please try it for the Free Trial - all you have to lose is an hour.
This is a very playable game. The storyline is week. The hint button, while it does take a while to recharge, is not very helpful. I dislike a game where the hint button merely says "there is nothing left to do in this area" because you can end up going in circles unless you are very intuitive. This game is so boring my wits were sleeping. The HOs were difficult in that it was difficult to find items. There were 2 kinds of HOs - find the items listed and find the silhouetted items. It just plainly wasn't fun.
I dislike doing this as I prefer to give every game the benefit of the doubt but not in this case. Certainly play the Free Trial, all you have to lose is an hour.
Violett is reluctant to move to the dreary countryside. But when a strange light lures her to into a world of magic, she may never find herself bored again!
There's really no introduction or cut scene to explain what's going on. You're in a car, at an old decrepit house, obviously unhappy and down the rabbit hole - but no explanations.
One difficulty, hint is useless, again no explanation or clue what to do. No tutorial.
Just nothing. How can you enjoy a game that has nothing? Just a character that you're supposed to do something with but you have no clue what.
Glam-ma hates to do this because I like to give every game a benefit of a doubt. But, this isn't even worth the free trial time. I did not even finish the free trial because it was just aggravating me.
I guess that says it all but I'll give you the reasons.
1. There was no map - that would have been extremely helpful.
2. The hint button did not work during gameplay - only in the HOGs.
3. The Strategy Guide in the free trial would not open "only available in full game." And I think I would have been a slave to the strategy guide because I had no clue where to go next. There were places I definitely needed to do something but nothing in my inventory worked.
4. Couldn't even open the "Extras" button unless you bought the game. I like to know if it's worth CE price. Sometimes just a Bonus Game isn't worth it.
Read the reviews but read the 5 stars as well as the 1 and 2 stars so you get an equal feeling.
I always hate to do this because I think a game deserves a fair play but this Glam-ma says try it but don't buy it.
The game has only one difficulty - no choice - you are just thrown into the game. The hint button is slow to recharge - as slow as molasses going uphill in January.. Slow. Unless you are going from one area to the next - yes it still recharges - which I have not come across in a game before - but it does so much more quickly.
The mini games were fairly easy. The HOGs are many but distasteful - a sepia toned mish mash of many, many very tiny objects. You can either rely on the multi-click method or get yourself a magnifying glass. You cannot rely on the hint button because it is sooooooooooooooooo slow to recharge.
There is no map and a fair bit of going back and forth and all around. For these reasons and many more I dislike the gameplay; however, that's not to say you shouldn't try it out for the free trial and make your own decision. I purchased this in a bundle sale and based on reviews. My luck - buyer beware.
I don't do this often, but this Glam-ma says it's a stand alone game so don't feel pressured to purchase it move on to the sequel - at least that's my feeling.
Glam-ma does not recommend this game.
I don't recommend this game.

Psych
Play as Shawn and Gus and solve the crime by using Shawn's heightened observational skills and Gus's eccentric expertise!
The storyline is basic and trite. They are going to a bridal show to see one of the characters' fav chefs from a cooking show. Then we go back in time to when Shawn (?) was a little boy and his father, a cop, was teaching him about investigations. Then back to the present time and they arrive at the bridal show, play a few tricks to get in the front door and voila, the actual game begins, or so I thought. Got to the murder room and we began picking up clues - actual clues for Gus and memories for Shawn. Don't know what to do next so I click "hint", which recharges in a fair amount of time. It seems to indicate that I leave the room, But try and try and try and try as I might I can't. So, I think maybe there's still more to do here so click on hint again - and again it seems to indicate I leave the room and again I try and try and try and can't. So, I go back to the beginning menu, add a different profile, go through the game until it is in that room where I can't, for the life of me, get out of. So, I quit the game.
There are no voice overs so you have to do a LOT of reading. The characters looked spot on to their t.v. characters, the humor between Shawn and Gus also was spot on. The music as it should be for this show. I haven't watched the show in some years but I always enjoyed it and was hoping to enjoy the game. Unfortunately, if I can't get out of a room how am I supposed to make progress? So, I quit the game and put it down to well, I tried - twice. I don't know what I was doing wrong because neither characters, nor inventory nor "hint"' was giving me cause to do anything other try to get out of the room.
Thoroughly disappointed because I could have played this game some day when I was bored but obviously not worth buying if I'm stuck in a room.
You are a detective at your BFF's engagement party, lights go out and all her family's artifacts that were given to her are stolen.
When you exit out of the game you are told all your progress will be lost - bummer
Can't comment about music or voiceovers because there were none of either. Unlimited hints and hint button recharged in a fair amount of time. Sometimes very difficult to find items. It basically went like this - list of items to find, item you needed to find the pieces to, which would give you an artifact that you put into a cabinet or whatever - it looked more like the shelves in an achievements type game. If you like HOGs upon HOGs upon HOGs this game is for you - it's a no brainer but my brain got sooooooo bored. I believe my grandkids could play this game - great for beginners and those who want to put their toe in the HOG waters and try it out.
Sorry, I don't do this often but this Glam-ma does not recommend this game.
You are a reporter sent to find out what happened in this quiet little town where the toy factory closed down. Everybody left, the town is too quiet but you are determined to find out what happened and you do. This is basically what the intro says and the way it's said is creepy - but it got to me so much I played it over and over and over again. Probably the best intro I've heard on a game - ever.
There are a lot of HOGs - not difficult - not hard to find your clues but a little twist on the "colored" items. I found I loved it and wished it were on more games. Hint hint devs.
The hint button recharges very quickly. There are only 2 levels of difficulty. This is an easy game that would be great for beginners. Not spooky at all - except in.....well, you'll see.
I had such a great time playing this game. Glam-ma definitely recommends it.
