This game seemed very generic to me. The layouts weren't unusual or unique at all as I've seen them before. You only have 3 tile settings that I could tell. I finished the first page and 1/2 the second of layouts so maybe as you get into the higher levels you have a wider variety of tiles and difficultly, as I did not find these pages/layouts difficult at all, not even of a medium difficulty.
You can achieve trophies in the form of 1, 2 or 3 stars. I am a well seasoned Mahjong player and found it odd that the first 2 layouts afforded me 3 stars and all the following layouts only 1. You can certainly replay any layouts to achieve that 3 star value but it just wasn't interesting enough to me to repeat myself.
I found this game bordering on boredom.
Great game for beginners.
This Glam-ma says give the demo a try - you may enjoy it more than I did.
I recommend this game!

To begin with - it would have been nice if "this game is designed to be played with headphones" would have been in the description. I wouldn't have downloaded it as I don't use headphones. But, I soon found out why.
The mechanics of the game - how to play - even after reading the instructions (that's right - NO tutorial) were mind-boggling. I felt as though I were muddling through my phone's instruction manual - AAAHHHH.
I can't give you the gist of the game other than it played something like Guitar Hero (I watched my son play a lot). And, apparently, you played against another person/villain/musician?
I'm sure the instructions made perfect sense to ..... someone - green means no good, blue means maybe good and red is perfect. Seemed backwards to me. It also explained notes - black hit black keys, white hit white keys - notes with tails, notes with colored tails, notes, notes, notes and more notes that fell from the top of screen faster (and smaller) than I knew what to do with - HELP!
The beginning opening scene was a fair 5 minutes long -
l - o - n - g. You are awakened by a spectral voice telling you to rise and shine, rise and shine. Apparently, you were dead? You certainly were fully clothed. You float up to the sky and descend though a cemetery and STOP - you are at the curb of a very busy street in "PARIS PRESENT DAY" - didn't know we weren't anywhere BUT present day. As you stand there stunned, shocked, can't move and cars are going by, horns honking, food signs flashing, planes flying overhead. At some point you end up in a park and there appear the Muses who have gifts for you - a long conversation ensues and they are on their way for a Greek Salad from a Fast Food Chain - seriously, they said that.
THEN, floating out of the sky is someone? Surrounded by musical instruments and what all - I thought it was a DJ. The accent is quite thick and difficult to understand (headphones needed?) but I got that the 2 musicians were going to battle - musically.
Told you it was long.
There are 4 modes of play from too easy to Chopin. NOT being musically inclined I played too easy - and it still was too hard.
Glam-ma says definitely read the reviews, the video is useless, the description even more so. BUT PLEASE NOTE - if you aren't musically inclined, don't understand note A from note B this game is not for you. Probably fun for professional musicians but not us poor old blokes who just love to listen to music.
How can I recommend or not recommend a game that's really suited for a small genre of people? There should be a "maybe" button.
I don't recommend this game.

Did I mention how boring this game is? Oh yeah, I did.
I did see this show on t.v. so I understood the premise quite well. Go about the world finding items and try to be the winner. Easy enough, except.....
You have two modes to play: Challenger (timed, try to beat other teams) and World Explorer (relaxed - thought it wasn't timed - and you receive bronze, silver or gold trophies at each location).
Graphics - lousy; visual - lousy; sound - good
,
Pros:
The only good thing about this game was the tools you had to earn by finding additional items which are (I'm going to butcher this word) silhouetted at the bottom of your screen in black. You could earn apparently several of each - hot/cold, compass, locator and a magnifying glass (which is extremely helpful but time consuming to use).
Cons:
Everything else. The screen was a miasma of items placed one on top of the other - if I counted I'll bet there were hundreds of items to find and the list was maybe 12-14 items long. Also, these items were so tiny I quickly understood the importance of the magnifying glass tool.
I was bored and only played for about 20 minutes - if that - and only that long because I LOVED the tools - so much fun!
I am so sorry BF, I don't often do this, but this Glam-ma cannot recommend this game.
I don't recommend this game.

I am a seasoned player at Match 3s (M3). My fingers whiz across the screen making matches while matches are still being removed (when the game allows - some games don't let you do that, you have to wait out each match).
In any case, this game had it all - great graphics, large jewels, great instructions for those who need it (always try out the tutorials to see how they are) and bombs galore of every shape, size, etc.
It was FUN! Unfortunately, there was this flashing white bar/line - almost like a lightning flash that crossed the screen during game play. Don't understand why it was there - it didn't seem to serve a purpose except maybe visual effects. In any case, it bothered me to the point of spots in front of my eyes and an eventual migraine - not just a headache but a migraine - which I thankfully do not get often.
Glam-ma says PLEASE try this game before you buy it (some people just buy games based on descriptions, videos and reviews), especially if you have a problem with flashing lights.
To those who can enjoy this fun game - enjoy.
I recommend this game!

I would recommend for all our sakes that you read my review for Jewel Quest Solitaire - not a whole lot has changed.
So saying, there are only 2 differences in this newest version of Jewel Quest Solitaire: 1-you are not playing the regular solitaire but you are matching cards - and not just 2/2, 1/1, K/K but you can match one up or one down - (i.e., 2/1, 3/4, K/A). 2-the storyline. I guess in the last game you (Rupert) met and married and moved to Paris. Now, you have disappeared on the way to give a talk at some archeological whatever and it's your wife to the rescue.
Unfortunately, I was so un-enamored with this game that is so similar to the previous game I quit only several hands into it. And unlike the previous game, even the storyline wasn't enough to pique my interest.
Therefore, Glam-ma says try it you may like but I didn't.
I don't recommend this game.

I am a fairly seasoned solitaire player, as well as a fairly seasoned match 3 (M3) player. Therefore, imagine my surprise when this game, which is both, confounded me.
Solitaire Game: Yes, there are probably 114 layouts (ergo, levels) but I certainly did not play them all during the demo. I did not find the layouts particularly difficult although game play did become more difficult as you went along. I have played many solitaire games in my time but never recall coming across a game that is hit or miss - by which I mean you either WIN because you had a perfect game or had a MISS because there were cards left on the table. Yes, I can see that if there were several cards - but one? And, thus, you had to replay that hand.
Also, beware the Wild cards. I have never played a solitaire game whereby your "wild" card was kept in the game play on top of cards. You had no choice but to use the "wild" card in order to get to the cards beneath it. Very strange. You also had what seemed to be an unlimited supply of "undo"s. So, feasibly, if you got to the end of the game and had a card or two on the board you could undo, undo, undo and play differently in order to use those cards.
The way the solitaire game went about giving you jewels and swaps in direct correlation to how you played the solitaire game was very confusing. There was just a small box off to the lower right of your screen and as you played solitaire jewels and gold squares would pop up.
Match 3 game: Really didn't get it. As mentioned above, you accrued jewels and a limited number of swaps during your solitaire hand. You did not have to have a M3 in order to swap a jewel. Your entire goal was to fill the rest of the board with gold squares. However, sometimes I had over 30 swaps (moves) available while at other times I had less than a dozen. I know it had to do with how I played the solitaire game but it was just so confusing.
Storyline: I played the story mode because it tends to be a more relaxed game play. I also usually overlook the story parts to get back into game play during demo mode figuring if I purchase the game I can pay closer attention then. Here, however, the story so intrigued me that I read every line. Maybe because it WAS the best part of the game - and it made sense.
This Glam-ma says give the free trial a try. You only lose an hour's time if you don't like it. It just wasn't for me. And, in good conscience, I can't NOT recommend a game others may love.
I recommend this game!

1000's of pictures encompassing everything you could imagine - except the description doesn't mention animals. Me? I like animals. Many hints, tips, and treats (no, it didn't say treats). Are you getting how I feeI yet?
Overall rating: never a one star as "hate" is such a bad word.
Sound Quality - maybe I missed something.
Storyline: Non-existent/not applicable - maybe it would have been better to actually have a storyline.
Imagine, if you will, the following:
You have finally chosen a picture from out of the 1000's (although it didn't seem like thousands to me) from a possible 4 boxes of puzzles. You are NOT a jigsaw novice. Not necessarily a pro, but definitely not a novice.
So, we have our picture, excitement mounts - but wait - it's only 12, 24 or 32 pieces with no rotation possibility of the pieces to make it just a little more difficult. No, you will probably have to resort to choosing a picture you don't like just to have more pieces to use. The more pieces, however, the smaller, tinier, miniscule the pieces are. And even then, you are NOT guaranteed to be able to rotate the pieces.
Imagine THIS scenario:
This game actually HAD 1000's of pictures that included everyone's taste. Let's face it - among 1000's you certainly have the room to appease everyone here. That the picture you finally chose had the ability for you to choose the number of pieces you need to put together. That you had the ability to choose to rotate the pieces to make the jigsaw that much more harder/entertaining/whatever. That when you saved your masterpieces they didn't disappear after x number of pictures saved - to make room for more completed pictures. If you have room for 1000's of pictures - why not have a place to save those 1000's of pictures? Doesn't this sound amazing? I think so. Alas, it is not this game. But it would be great if it were. The actual game is the "imagine the following scenario" I described.
This particular game has not gotten better with each new version on the market. I believe, a true jigsaw connesouer (sp?) doesn't care about trophies - but the final masterpiece, that sense of satisfaction when the last piece is put in place.
There is another jigsaw game out there - for obvious reasons I can't tell you the name, where it is (except on BF) or how to find it. I can say it is heads and tails better than this one.
This Glam-ma says run - if you want fun, relaxation, enjoyment, invest in a real jigsaw puzzle, glue it to posterboard, mat it, frame it, and hang it for your world to enjoy.
BF you really missed the mark here. Sadly disappointed.
I don't recommend this game.

Downloaded this as a demo against my better judgement - but always willing to give a game a try. I don't watch the t.v. show so this is truly an unbiased review of the 10 minutes I allowed myself to play this nonsense.
First issue - all these people are supposedly geniuses, experts in their field, etc. and so on. So, why on the plane do they talk and behave as if they are illiterates with no brains? How do you IMMEDIATELY place murders 2 yrs ago in a separate State with a new and, as far as we know, a one-time murder based solely on some similarities? Seems like a HUGE jump to me. And I'm college educated, well-read and been around (I'm a glam-ma with waaayy too much life experience).
Second Issue - you are at the crime scene in the apartment. You and a uniformed police officer (or the other way around - unsure) have tackled someone to the ground. Automatically, you have assumed him to be the killer - another HUGE leap for me. Couldn't he be the building super waiting for you to show up? He sure looked like someone waiting around to me - I mean, seriously, do you expect the killer to be waiting around for the police? And, pardon me for "profiling" - ha! - but he looked like a building super to me and not a killer.
Issue 3 - Again, you are at the crime scene, you and a UNIFORMED POLICE OFFICER have tackled an as yet unknown person onto the floor and "get the handcuffs on him". Uh, pardon me? Where would YOU expect said handcuffs to be? Perhaps on the uniformed police officer's belt? Of course not - they are waaayyyy across the room hanging off an exercise machine. Makes all the sense in the world to me.
Issue 4 - First mini-game - on the plane you are going over the incredible LEAP from murders 2 yrs ago to this ONE TIME murder - as of yet. The mini game is a DNA strand where you connect the lines to match up around the locked atoms (?) to get from point a to point b. Each time you succeed you get another fact. YAY I completed the mini game - but why is there a loose strand at the very beginning of the puzzle - it goes nowhere - it doesn't even lead to a "locked" atom (?).
I have collected inventory items at the crime scene but only 2 of the items go onto the victim. Because apparently we need to "put everything back in its original place" - Have you seriously ever heard of this? Isn't this damaging a crime scene? Isn't it supposed to be hands off and put all evidence into a baggie? Don't police, investigators, coroner, etc. even wear plastic footies on their shoes?
Now what? Click the hint button. I don't just get a hint. I get an entire boatload of a list of next steps to take - go outside the apt., pick up item such and such lying on the ground, go to police station, get evidence box of crimes from 2 years ago, get x, y and z out of evidence box, go back to crime scene and use item (a) found outside apt earlier or item (b) found at the police station to do (c). Also, that poor man you tackled earlier? Give him his ID back.
If the t.v. show is this ridiculous - I have not been missing much. Handholding? Are you kidding me? Realistic situation - again, are you frigging serious? I re-read my review several times before sending it off to be, well reviewed. You know what's scary? All of the above happened in the first 10 minutes of the game - no exaggerations.
BF - do you even have someone play these games - or even the demo before putting it out there for the rest of us? Because if you do, I can only assume you are pleading temporary insanity for letting this one on the game list.
This Glam-ma is not intrigued, amused or entertained by all this nonsense - I do not recommend this game - unless you are living in some police drama fairyland where nothing is as real life really is.
I don't recommend this game.

What the frack is wrong with my computer? I nearly finished my detailed and lengthy review and everything blanked out so here I am, starting over.
This game has it all! It's AMAZING (I guess you'll see that word a lot here). Graphics - clear, colors bright, music - (which I usually tune out) spot on jazz, jazz, jazz and all that jazz. Won't tune this puppy out. Lip-syncing-oh yes and thank you gods of the devs who FINALLY thought to continue said lip syncing throughout the game (as most devs don't seem to do) with....wait for it.....FACIAL FEATURES MOVING - so don't read along because I was truly mesmerized by this never before seen phenomena. Seriously, though, I was sucked in in the first 10 minutes, maybe less, of the demo. The SE demo just reminded me why I loved the CE demo so much and got the game.
Storyline - It is 1953 Louisiana. You are going back home to visit your father, Samuel Stirling, owner of the famously renowned Jazz Pepper Club and former band member. But, something's afoot and, of course, it ain't all that good.
Opening Scene - Here is where I was pulled into the game - no, not the game - which has NEVER happened in the history of my game playing - I was pulled into the story. It's the inside of the Jazz Pepper Club, crowded with people enjoying themselves, the announcer is preparing to bring on the next act when "it looks like we have a special guest" - FRANKIE - who is dead! (Well, what do you expect in the French Quarter?) Not creepy zombie dead but he has been dead for a while. And he's back? Why? And by who? And what happened back in the day that caused him to come back - with a vengeance. He begins playing his sax (oh, that music is so hypnotizing) - WAIT - the music DID hypnotize everyone in the Club including your father who was in the back office.
Now, you've arrived. The window out front is broken, the doors locked. There is a cute monkey who you play a game with (shades of street vendors - lol) to receive an inventory item. But first, find the coin that allows you to play. You meet a man (down on his luck?) in the alley behind the Club and help him for which you receive a "spare, ermh," key to the Club which he has "for emergencies". O-k-a-y then. Off you go to investigate.
Gameplay - There are 5, count them 5, levels of difficulty - all having musically related names. The last being "innovator" which is the custom mode - you cannot change the timing on the mini game/puzzle skip time. Whoa - just whoa. The HOGs are fun, innovative, new and exciting. The mini games also fun, innovative, new and exciting - neither hard at all. I don't think it's about how hard or easy the game is - because THIS game is all about the story, not the game - something I've never experienced before. You also come across items that will bring back memories/story of how it all came about (OMG, your Aunt's voice singing - mellow, smooth, dare I say sexy?). I could listen to it forever. You get a diary which actually has real info in it, not redundant repeats (yeah, I said that) of notes, etc. you find lying around - boring. A map of the city given to you by what appears to be your own personal cabbie (love the old yellow cabs) which is "jumpable" but not before you move to another area of the city by locating a given address on the map and giving it to your cabbie. And, another thing I've never seen before. Everything, I repeat, everything in the game - HOGs, mini games, items you find and use - are all musically related. Imagine?! A game that actually uses things to incorporate into the actual storyline. Oh ye gods of the devs please continue future games this way. And the actors - please don't ever, ever, let them go - REALISTIC AND MAGNIFICENT.
You will meet people/characters who are spot on - the man in the alley sounds like a down on his luck man. The gypsy sounds like a gypsy. The accents in this game are truly LA accents and every time I hear someone speak I melt (ok, a girl has gotta love an accent). I'll take you to the end of the demo - or I'll never shut up - you are running (for your life?) when the cabbie shows up - complete with tires squealing and cab swerving - the door pops open and there is the cabbie extending his arm and shouting "get in"!. End of demo. Major disappointment - total WOW factor and you press that "buy" button faster than the speed of sound. Well, I did.
I cannot say this enough. This game is not about the game - it's about the story and you get that just minutes into the demo - at least I did - remember, I haven't played the entire game yet. You are sucked in. You are THERE. I can't imagine playing this over days - I will have to play it in one sitting (keep food, drinks handy).
My biggest fear? I finished the demo with 10 minutes to spare and that was after spending time entering my profile, going into options, and checking out "other games". Shades of a short game? I hope not. I really hope not because this demo was just tooooooooooo good. I will most likely cry after I've played my CE and finished it. Don't know when that will be as my game manager groans with the weight of all the purchased games yet to be played but keep a lookout for me - no spoilers but I'll try to give you more info on how much I continued to love this game - or not - and what the CE bling was all about.
Obviously, this Glam-ma says play, play and play this demo. If you aren't as taken with it as I am, well, it's ok - to each his own. But I hope you do enjoy all the new things the devs have engineered here. I have truly NEVER been so excited about a game in all my 7 years of BF membership. Happy Gaming.
I recommend this game!

Well, hot diggity (since I can't use the other "d" word, you know "dangity") lol. This is based on the completed game. First and foremost, I disagree with allll the reviewers who said they finished the game in 4 hours or in just under 4 hours. I played this game ALL DAY LONG!
The gist of the storyline.....you are Emily. Your sister, Clarice, has married a blackheart whose past 7 wives have all died under mysterious conditions. What would cause her to marry such a man? Everyone knew of the 7 dead wives....ah, well, love as they say, is blind. You haven't heard from your sister in a very long time and fear the worst so off you go to search for her...and search for her you do.
This is not a typical hidden object game. Nor do I feel it is a typical adventure game. There are HOGs aplenty and mini games - not that I found either terribly dark or difficult. The entire ambiance of the game is dark and spooky so why would you expect the HOGs to be anything but? Music? Sorry, I'm a grandma and learned to tune out things a l-o-n-g time ago.
You will not be handheld for this game as we are so many games today. There is no map, jumpable or otherwise - none. There is no diary or journal that will keep you updated on whatever they generally do and, more importantly, nothing to make a note of your clues, codes, etc. There is no compass - nothing pointing you in any given direction. The "info" button only tells you what room you're in. Yeah. The hint button is more useless than useful and takes a while to recharge - however, since there are no achievements, feel free to hint away in the HOGs - although there is a penalty for over-clicking. There is also no pet, friend, animal or fuzzy little creature for you to name that will help you. Are you getting it??? THERE IS NO HELP FOR YOU IN THIS GAME - you are on your own, except for obscure clues found here and thereabouts - look closely and remember.
You may do something that you KNOW you are supposed to be doing and it just isn't working. You may get an annoying message stating "the devil is in the details" - well, what the frack is that supposed to mean? Do I need something? Do I need to come back? What???? Hah, I had to figure it out so...you will too.
There is a LOT of back and forth, and forth and back, and back and forth and, oh, if I were really doing all that walking I would have rested a million times. There are also your inventory items that you receive NOT just for completion of an HOG. There are items you will use right away, items you know what to do with and items that won't be used for a millennium (well, it felt like a millennium).
One tidbit I can share with you which is not a spoiler.....when you are finished with an area/room/whatever, you.....will....unequivocally.....know. That's not saying you will know what to do next, as you will probably get the following answer to your hint click - "search through Blackbeard's castle and grounds" - yeah, thanks. As I said, not a very helpful hint button.
It took me a while to get the know-how of how to play this game because I am also spoiled by the handholding games of today. But once I figured it out, a lightbulb lit my entire neighborhood with its brightness and I was like, doh. Saying that, had the lighbulb glared earlier in the game I would not have progressed any faster than I did. Not helpful, huh? Sorry.
You will work VERY HARD to get through this game. You will not get a "bam" ending. You will work very hard until the very last millisecond of this game. But, every piece of the puzzle realized will have you feeling so overwhelmed with accomplishment you will not want to stop playing. You need to use your brain (on full awareness mode) throughout this game. Therefore, I DO NOT recommend this for beginners.
I purchased this game as part of a "bundle" offering and based on the "great" reviews. Not sure I'll do that again. Everyone talked about how great the game is - it is that. No one talked about how different the gameplay was or how difficult it could be, even on the easiest setting.
I loved this game almost from the beginning and definitely to the end. Obviously - as it is now 1:30 am on Mother's Day and I've been at it f-o-r-e-v-e-r. I would love to have more games like this available. I had to think and plan my moves. But once in the groove, there was no stopping me - lol.
Do you find your sister? Is this a prequel to a sequel? Is the ending everything I had hoped it would be and fireworks are exploding with the wonderfulness of it? Not saying. Just remember, this is Blackbeard and you are entering his castle and you have not been invited.
This Glam-ma says try the demo, although I'm not sure you will get a true taste of the game in an hour. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the entire game.
I recommend this game!
