This is a spin on the classic campfire tale "The Hookman" with albeit a more pleasant ending. Being that the game is nearly a decade old, it doesn't have any customization, maps or endless hints & skips as the newer games do.
This game was really challenging! Many items were tough to see and you had to collect hints in the shape of bugs. In the beginning, the bugs reappeared practically as soon as you used one. The reason I could only give it 3 stars is that after a while I had to roam from screen to screen just to find one bug, and it took 5 in order to skip some of the rather difficult puzzles.
I wasn't so sure I cared for this game in the beginning. It's mostly just scene after scene of nothing but hidden object games. I think it would go over particularly well with younger children.
I eventually warmed up to the game however because, aside from the lovely Halloween scenes, I really enjoyed the puzzle games that were in-between the scenes. Some of them were really challenging! I also enjoyed collecting the golden pumpkins and hidden Halloween objects in order to collect items for your Halloween shelf.
This was a game that premiered in 2011 and featured for the first time Kai and Gerda. It's another twist on the tale of "Snow White" with a little "Beauty and the Beast" thrown in for good measure. I'm also reminded a bit of Elsa from "Frozen".
This is an older game, so you will have a map, but you must get around on your own. The hints only help you if you're in that particular room where the hint is, so sometimes you'll have to go from room to room before you find what you need.
The snowy scenes in this game were breathtaking! That being said, I could only give it 4 stars because the fragmented hidden object scenes were a bit too frequent (and seemed to be nothing but silvery objects) and the puzzles didn't seem to have much variety. Other than that, it was a solid game with an interesting story line.
I've played this game half a dozen times since it was first released in 2012...and I still love it!
The thrill of this game for me is definitely the ENORMOUS spooky castle. On top of that, Anna transports herself into photos of memories and then you get to explore those worlds, as well. You definitely get more bang for your buck! There's a teleportable map and even playing at an advanced level I found the hints to be very helpful.
I've played every single Grim Tales game up to this point and this is still one of the best in the series!
This is a Blue Tea beauty from 2011, but I still pull it out and play it now and again because it's one of my favorites.
Set in Germany, it's the tale of the immortal frog prince and how he keeps starting his life over and over again with new princesses (I'll let which one's be a surprise), only to lose them to old age. I was enchanted by the shrines he created for each one of his lovely brides. Now our fairy tale detective must help stop the curse!
This game is 7 years old, so it doesn't have the fancier bells and whistles of the new games, like customization or teleportation maps. You will have hints but they only help you with the numerous fragmented hidden object scenes. A couple of times I did need help finding something (like the oar) but was able to look it up on the Big Fish Forum.
Once completed, you will be able to play again in "hard mode" (no hints or skips), which will unlock a couple of doors you missed the first time around.
I recommend this game!

Ominous Objects: Phantom Reflection
A mysterious mirror is causing havoc in your client's house!
A young survivor from the first Ominous Objects game (Family Portrait) is all grown up and has become an expert in solving mysteries involving ominous objects...last time it was portraits, this time it's mirrors!
Like the first game, this one is also nice and long, so you get your money's worth. A lot of people are turned off by the blue, pink and purple graphics, but I'm a fan of them myself...I think they're beautiful and adored the graphics!
The puzzles were relatively simple and fun. One difference I noticed from the first one is the ability to choose match-3 over the hidden objects scenes, if you wish.
If you like Mr. Jenkins from the first game...he's back! The ending was left a bit open and I'm looking forward to see if they resolve it in future games.
I recommend this game!

Buyer Beware...This Piece Of Real Estate Comes With A Very High Price!!!
In order to save your family from a powerful man bent on revenge, you must enter a world of portraits to save your wife and 4 children.
This game was BREATHTAKING! It took place in a huge castle, where each room was more beautiful than the one before. Because the castle was so enormous, the game was rather lengthy...which I love. There were many fun puzzles and interesting hidden object scenes along the way. You even get a cute cat helper, Mr. Jenkins!
I agree that the voiceovers were a bit annoying, but at least you could skip the cut scenes. I did hit a glitch and have to start all over, but I was able to skip it the 2nd time around, so it wasn't insurmountable.
While this game was not my favorite of the series, it's still a good game and definitely worth playing!
The basic premise is that you've been kidnapped, poisoned and you must get yourself and a fellow hostage away from a mad man. The game was decent in length and there were plenty of fun mini-games along the way. I found the hidden object scenes a bit annoying, but at least you can customize the settings & quickly skip them. Look forward to a cool surprise ending!
Without warning, a group of mysterious figures arrives and reduces your village to flames and rubble. What do they want... and who is controlling them?
You have to move stealthily from point to point to hide from everything from banshees to dragons. At one point, the dragon even knocked everything off of your screen...your map, your journal...even your hint button!
I think it was the middle that started to lag for me. It sort of went from excitement to ho-hum back to excitement again, at the end.
The music and graphics were beautiful and the mini-games and hidden object scenes were interesting. It was also nice & lengthy.
Once again, the family turns to Anna and skull daddy to save the day. This time it's her niece Jackie, who you may remember she rescued when she was younger.
I was a bit disappointed in this one. Maybe it's because the series has gone on so long they've ran out of relatives and they're running through them once again. Also, as the other reviewers noted, it was a bit short.
If you're reading this, Elephant Games, please go back to the beautiful mansions and countryside cottages that made these games so beautiful to begin with. The ugly hotel rooms and police stations didn't do it justice.
Still, it wasn't bad. The HOS were fun and I enjoyed going back to different time periods. I will continue to buy this series because you always want to see what happens next.
