I wanted to like this game, but found it disappointing ultimately.
It starts out great. Donna Brave is summoned to Paris by her uncle, whose name is a take off on a famous French poet. It appears to take place in 1920s France, so great ambience. Then the mystery begins. And it starts out pretty well, but pretty much fizzles out.
There is no "strangler". The enemy is a hulking shadow who grabs victims from behind and they are covered in glowing runes.
The puzzles are not too hard, but not too easy. There are more puzzles than HOPs. Items to find in your quest are small, well hidden, and not always easy to intuit. The game is challenging to play on expert mode, as Hint & skip are disabled.
A memory medallion is used to provide background about the characters involved. The medallion (bottom right) glows when you have found an object belonging to a character which clues you to place object in medallion and you see the story behind the object.
It's quite a long game to play, but overall I did not get a satisfied feeling playing the game. If you like a challenge, this game may suit you.
I recommend this game!

I had the most fun with this game from this series, but the graphics are not as nice as other games in the series. Kind of a shame, since it takes place in the 1920s-early 1930s during the Jazz Age/Art Deco era.
The story is a bit convoluted as the devs try to throw multiple red herrings throughout, but the actions to take are easy to intuit. Hint & skip are allowed even on Expert mode. Puzzles are easy to moderate, but reasonable without too much frustration. The puzzles were missing the Reset button, which I found inconvenient. HOPs are varied, and have the option of playing Bubble popper as an alternative.
Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

The story is forgettable, but fun game to play if you like playing detective. Actions to take are easy to intuit. Mini puzzles are easy. HOPs are varied.

It's amazing what a good story can do to elevate the game. The story is excellent, developed well, and easy to follow. Throw in good HOPs (which you can skip for jigsaw puzzles) and mini puzzles with just right amount of challenge, and you have an excellent HO adventure game.
Expert level disables Hint & skip, but allows helpful messages. If you like the Witches Legacy series, this game is right up your alley, with similar creative touches and HO type formats.
I recommend this game!

The game starts out really well, but becomes less enjoyable towards the end. The story is OK, but not sure why it took place in an Asian country like Maylasia, Hong Kong and the like, when none of the characters are Asian.
This isn't one of my favorite HO games out there, but overall it is highly playable and fun in the 1st half. The mini puzzles are mostly easy. Not very many HOPs, and those are the standard variety. Expert mode allows Hint, skip, and helpful messages. Those who like a challenge will likely find this game a bore.
I recommend this game!

I'm a fan of the Mystery Trackers series. This is a fun game to play. It has a good combination of voiceovers, artwork, special effects, story, and suspense.
I didn't like some of the mini puzzles, and some actions to take were not completely intuitive. Other than that, this is a great game.
I recommend this game!

This is the Mystery Trackers games I fell in love with.
The intro cut scene is not impressive, but artwork definitely improves as game progresses.
Interesting storyline. Contemporary setting, with Asian characters as protagonists.
Expert mode is really hardcore--no hint, no skip, no helpful messages, no glimmers over active areas, no map indicators, and no tutorial. However, they do flash task that needs to be accomplished, and items in inventory have a plus sign to clue you in to additional item to find before usable.
Mini games are easy. HOPs are varied and include morphing objects.
I loved playing detective in this game, which is fairly short, but so much fun and satisfactory to play. Elf the chihuahua is very helpful as a helper.
Two thumbs up from me.
I recommend this game!

This is a conventional HO game minus the junk pile HOPs. It's mainly an adventure HO game where the hidden objects are in the scenes encountered.
The artwork is good. Voiceovers are appropriate for the characters drawn. Background music has an X-files ambience. The story is easy to follow and helpful messages are present throughout the game, along with Hint & skip.
The puzzles are 90% easy. There were a few that took more work to solve. Every task completed earns an achievement and garners the title of Junior Detective, Master detective, or police chief. However, no extra games.
I would have given 5 stars, but took off one star because no walkthrough is available.
The ending leaves room for a sequel, but I didn't see any in BFG's search engine, which is a shame, because I liked Alicia and would have been interested in her adventures.
I recommend this game!

This is a very nice, highly playable, HO adventure with easy to follow story and good voiceovers, but suffers from so-so artwork.
It takes place at turn of the century, but the main protagonist wears pants (unusual for that time period) while a young Coco Chanel wears clothing from late 19th century. If you are a history buff, there are cameos from Albert Einstein and Coco Chanel. The action takes place in France, Switzerland and Siberia. Switzerland was the nicest part of the game.
The voiceovers are good, but the father of protagonist looks like a young 40 yr old, when his daughter is in her 20s? I would have expected a distinguished doctor with silver hair.
The HOPs and puzzles are easy. Expert mode allows hint, skip and helpful messages, which is plenty of help, as most actions are intuitive and logical.
It's a fun game to play because it's easy to follow the story and figure out what to do next. Just wish the artwork had been nicer.
The game is decent length and took forever to download.
I recommend this game!

This is your conventional GOLF solitaire game with mini games thrown in. This game is more challenging than the sequel Magic Solitaire 2.
The story consists of a Tinkerbell-like elf and a Harry Potter-like wizard Knoxbury who asks you to find artifacts to create a magical spell concoction. The levels are represented by stepping stones. Each stepping stone has 10-12 GOLF games to play. In between each completed level is a mini game, and then you acquire an artifact, which is displayed in a scrapbook-like album page.
It may be a standard format, but is quite challenging to acquire all items on each level and get the 3 stars etc. You acquire points based on # of continuous runs of cards acquired on one hand--all standard stuff. For some reason the devs chose GRAINS as the currency of choice, which allows you to buy cards from the shop. The shop has 2 choices--25 grains for any wild card of choice or 50 grains for a Joker card. There are 4 additional power-ups, but these are gained in a specific order, with the best power ups occurring near the end of the game.
The artwork is nice, on the cartoonish side, but with pretty good special effects. I object to the fly-away hair bangs on the elf, making her look shaggy and unkempt.
Not much of a story, but the dialogue between the two characters is inoffensive and easy to follow.
One thing I did not like about the format of the game is you have no idea how many cards are under each face card. It can go on forever, but you can't tell because the cards underneath are not staggered to give you a visual hint that more cards are present that you need to acquire. Other than that, I found this game a lot of fun to play. The mini games are varied and provide a respite from GOLF.
I recommend this game!
