This is my 3rd DK game, as good as ever. It's long on puzzles, short on junk pile HOPs (my preference is more HOPs), but the story is excellent--easy to follow and plausible. The ghosts are friendly and helpful. Villains are bad, but not nasty, and the heroine always wins the day.
I love this series.
I recommend this game!

This is my 2nd DK adventure, and it is excellent. The game is long on puzzles, with few junk pile HOPs. The graphics are excellent and take place in Tuscany Italy, so really pretty. Storyline is easy to follow and actually coherent.
It is a long game, with 6 chapters, and achievements (although the SE version does not have any prizes for the achievements), but still a nice added touch.
On to my next DK adventure. Well done, Boomzap.
I recommend this game!

I've played most of the Dark Parable series, but this is the best of the bunch. The game is VERY LONG, graphics are excellent, and good story. HOPs are the characteristic DP frags. There are many puzzles--the devs were really keen on arrange the steps needed to finish the puzzle. Most puzzles were easy, with a few exceptions.
I recommend this game!

This is an enjoyable game. Forgettable storyline, but good fun. There is a disclaimer at the beginning of the game about violence and objectionable scenes, but it's overstated. There is a little bit of blood, but not at all gory, creepy or scary.
The characters are really good looking, which offsets the otherwise gloomy and dark scenes encountered. There is a mechanical cat that you have to fix, and he becomes a helper of sorts for remainder of game, but you have to fix him several times, not just once. Not a favorite part of the game for me, but I did like that all the characters were good looking.
I recommend this game!

This was a fun game to play, and geared toward women wanna be detectives who are not afraid of danger or wily men. The names of the men are monosyllabic and a play on words. If I described any further, it would give the plot away.
I recommend this game!

It's not really a match 3 game. You eliminate two or more jewels of same color on the board, but 90% of the game is limited by number of moves, so time isn't of the essence, but the moves chosen is.
It's a great concept, EXCEPT you have to earn 3 stars for each level in order to proceed to the next level. And some levels are deliberately set up to make it hard to reach 3 stars without using power ups, lots of power ups--makes you want to wring the devs' neck for making some levels so difficult.
You don't have a choice about getting 3 stars for each level. If you want to finish all 120 levels in order to learn about the story, then you have to earn 3 stars for each level in order to progress to the next 20 levels and so on.
The game is recommended if you have very high persistence level.
I recommend this game!

This game is breathtakingly innovative and unique in its game concept. It's completely different from any HO game out there. The main story opens up like a book, with beautiful background music, good narration, and intriguing story/mystery.
Basically, it's like a wandering in a maze and defeating vile animals or acquiring objects or breaking down barriers by typing in the word or letter and hitting enter. You also use the up, down, left, right arrows to move around.
The other part of the game is truly a "typing" game, and is under "Arena" on the main menu. Here the protagonist stands still in the arena (a star platform) and creatures come from the perimeter and you have to type the words emanating from the creatures to defeat them. You can't let the creatures reach the character, or they will slay you, and you have to start over again.
I really liked this game, BUT there is no HINT function and the map function is cryptic. There's not even an explanation for how to play the game, objectives of game, etc. I got stuck on the Desolate Waters. I've typed everything, but can't get beyond the water and there's no hint to help. It's very annoying. May have to try again under a different name.Kind of a shame that they made this game more difficult than it needs to be.
I recommend this game!

Anna Gray visits a mansion at request of a boarding school head mistress Rosette to investigate a mystery. She meets Dorian, inspired by Oscar Wilde's Dorian Gray, and his to-be bride Stacy. Play the game to find out what happens.
The artwork is beautifully done. The characters are movie star gorgeous. Music is good. HOPs are varied, puzzles mostly easy, and actions are logical.
Two special features of the game are Anna's father, who is your ghost helper. When the skull at bottom left glows, you need to click on it, upon which the ghost appears, talks to you, and gives you an item needed in your journey. The other feature is the astrolabe on lower right, which glows when you are at a location where you can travel to a different time for that location, and opens up a scene for certain actions or items needed to progress.
The game is well done and enjoyable to play.
I recommend this game!

Pros of the game:
- long game
- original story
- CE value: has collectibles, achievements, replayable puzzles & HOPs, artwork, cinematics
- exotic setting ( Thailand)
- rotating the objects in 3d mode is a frequent occurrence, which is unique to the game, but also a con, see below
Cons of the game:
- actions to progress more often than not, not obvious, requiring frequent use of Hint
- collectibles are small, dark & well hidden
- characters look robotic
-voiceovers of the ghosts are unintelligible, which is deliberate, since the ghosts are Thai and speaking in Thai language
- many of the scenes require moving in 3d motion to fully explore extent of game, which got to be tiresome.
- as you play the game, you acquire helpers (gecko, flashlight, telescope, etc) that need to be used, but often not obvious, which got tiresome.
Overall, this game was developed with high hopes and is rich in value, but it suffers from being too cryptic, which makes a challenge of otherwise enjoyable HO adventure game. I will probably enjoy the 2nd time around, now that I've gone through the ropes, but I found the journey tedious and aggravating more than I would have liked. This is a game you should try before buying, as each person's tolerance level is individual.
I recommend this game!

This is a good HO game, emphasis on adventure. There are relatively few HOPs, but they are varied and with interesting interactions such as adjusting X & Y sliders to bring the object into focus by bringing the 2 layers together to form a complete picture matching the object on the list. The puzzles are mostly easy to manageable, except for one. The last one was a pain for me, but it is the finale.
The storyline really makes this game excellent, with several red herrings thrown in to make it interesting. The story takes place in prison, but you quickly break out of your cell, are thrown outside of the prison walls, and then make your way back into prison....Any more details, and this review will be banned.
I think the only thing I didn't like about the game is hardest mode has no hint or skip button.
It's a decent length game when played on intermediate mode, but a fun game to immerse yourself into. Enjoy.
I recommend this game!
