Available at BFG since 2013 . Review based on completed game. This game is mainly outdoors, but you also get a woodland visitors' center, camping ground for workers, and museum, all set in the woods. Lots and lots of places to visit, and meandering paths. Loved the spooky, evening, moonlit ambience. Good, believable characters and good voice acting. Interaction is regular, but you can speed up the dialogue by clicking. Graphics are very clear, and not disjointed. Natural colors are used and are not overly colorful. 20+ HOPS, straightforward wordlists. Fun puzzles. Great sound. Fills widescreen. The HOPS were very clear. Not a standard format map.
SOUNDS: 2. Music is totally separate. In my game, I had to increase sound a lot to get a good volume.
DIFFICULTIES: 3 and interchangeable
HINT: Will first lead you to the correct area and begins to recharge. If you still need help, it will show which item to use. However, sometimes it will just lead you to the Map.
MAP: The map you use is posted to a notice board which you have to get to in the game, from that point it is a travel map, but anyone looking for a standard 2017 map included in your inventory won't find it here.
INVENTORY: Remains visible at all times
JOURNAL: With extra notes and recorded clues
I wish there were more games with this quality and type of graphics.
I recommend this game!

Available at BFG since 2017. Review based on completed main game (not bonus). There was so much potential in this game, but it just wasn't consistently enjoyable. During several parts,I felt like it had ground to a halt! The story IS there, it just isn't executed in a way that developed mystery, tension or motivation. Overall, I was disappointed.
PROS
-Some outstanding scenes in this game carry it through to the end. For example, some desert and unkempt, deteriorating city scenes., and 1 or 2 of the snow scenes.
-Good division of sound.
CONS
-The characters feature A LOT, but they are completely expressionless, and this is a NEW game! The voiceovers sound like Scooby-Doo characters and their personalities are robotic. To make matters worse, you can't even move the dialogue along many times-probably because it's a cut-scene, and there were so many of them!
-I found the interactive HOPS tedious (8 in the main game). The lack of visually interesting detail in most of the HOPS was the main factor. On top of that, I'm not a great fan of HOP silhouettes anyway, which they all seemed to be. I've enjoyed games where there have been 20-30 HOPS and thoroughly enjoyed them, but these were boring.
I was glad when this game was over.
All the modern features of a 2017 game otherwise.

Available at BFG since 2011. Review based on completed game. You will visit a ship, a train, cable car, caves, ...all sorts of places. I liked the atmosphere created in this game. It felt sort of steam-punk, with the robots and gears lying around, and the guy gone crazy in his top-hat. There's lots of back and forth, no map and you can't change difficulty. A game to take your time with. Nice graphics.
GRAPHICS –Fullscreen or Windowed (no Widescreen). Nice style of graphics that aren't done much these days.
HOPS: 19 Wordlists – the words are not all present at once, which for me, makes it more fun! Some items are small, some are very well hidden.
PUZZLES: All skippable.
SOUNDS - with 2 adjustments: Music/ Environment. Not big on sounds, but adequate.
MAP: NONE and there IS a lot of back and forth
JOURNAL: YES with saves story notes and has Tasks
DIFFICULTY SETTINGS – 2 – NOT interchangeable
HINT: Recharge: 90 seconds in Casual, 120 seconds in Expert. You can't disable black-bar tips. The Hint will show open a window, to show you where you should go and point to what you should do, but you can't travel through the window.
INVENTORY – Lockable
CHARACTERS: Minimal interaction. No voice-overs, you read.
I recommend this game!

Available at BFG since 2011. Review based on completed game. The game is a game of 2 halves. We get the robot/junkyard land, and then we get a nature haven, with alien creatures that resemble- The Grinch! Pretty quirky!
Warning: HINTS are ONLY available in the HOPS. No hints are available as you are navigating around the rest of the game, but you do get black-bar tips (which can't be disabled), a diary which stores info and gives you your next task and there IS a BFG walkthrough available- I had to use it several times. The graphics are more than adequate, but there are no bells and whistles here compared to many a 2017 game. Still, they've created a game that is wholly enjoyable!
GRAPHICS – Fullscreen or Windowed (no Widescreen)
HOPS: 26 Wordlists (Also a very satisfying and mellow "thud-kerchink-fizz" as you correctly click on items.) Well hidden, and sometimes small items that I wouldn't recommend for anyone with challenging vision.
PUZZLES: All skippable after around 90 seconds.
SOUNDS - with 2 adjustments – Music being separate to all the other sounds. The ambient sounds as you walk around your environment are great! Like the general humming and operating of equipment in the basement.
MAP: NONE. You should know that there's quite A LOT of back and forth in this game. The tasks in the "diary/journal" will often tell you what and where you should be aiming for.
JOURNAL: YES in the form of a digital pad-type device.
DIFFICULTY SETTINGS – 1 MODE only
HINT: Only for HOPS. Takes 40 seconds to recharge. You do get black-bar tips (which can't be disabled), a diary which stores info and gives you your next task and a BFG walkthrough is available.
INVENTORY – Visible at all times.
CHARACTERS: Minimal interaction. No voice-overs. You read.
Have fun!
I recommend this game!

Available at BFG since 2017. Review based on completed main game (but not bonus). The outdoors are 80% of this game! Perspective and depth abound. We get stunning environments and clear detail! D'y ever want paths and rocks? Rocks that LOOK like rocks, with bits chipped off and moss? All that? Well, that's what you get right here. I was super impressed. Moody and mysterious. You get: rocky paths, endless mountainous backgrounds, ferns and barren trees, all manner of vegetation, ponds and water features, also volcanic and desert lands. Basically it's chock-a-block with all this good stuff. The creatures are quirky and a bit eccentric. Great! I wasn't sure about the fox though, but she was ok (nothing dangerous about her anyway). A very nicely told story.
GRAPHICS - Widescreen or Fullscreen. Moody and mysterious, DETAILED outdoors.
HOPS: 8 in the MAIN game and 8 in the BONUS (I was able to tell from the GUIDE that there are 8 in the bonus). You have an alternative, which is a game where you rearrange triangles to create a picture.
PUZZLES: All skippable
SOUNDS - with 4 adjustments: Music/Environment/Effects/Sound
MAP: TRAVEL with useful indicators
JOURNAL: NO
DIFFICULTY SETTINGS – 4 –interchangeable
HINT: Guides and leads
INVENTORY – Lockable
CHARACTERS: Regular interaction of a short duration. Quirky, not silly
I recommend this game!

Available at BFG since 2017. Review based on completed game. I really liked this game! A lot of thought must have been taken to ensure the excellent pacing of this game. Each step you take leads you deeper into the unfolding of this story. From an evening city skylinenext to choppy waters, to an island mansion, with woods, caves and rivers, you'll get a good dose of varied places and the outdoors. The quality of the scenes stays consistent through to the end and several of them are wonderful! The goodies just keep coming! Very relaxing and mysterious, not disturbing.
GRAPHICS - Widescreen or Fullscreen. Great graphics!
HOPS: -10- You can toggle back and forth between HOPS and jigsaw puzzle elements at any moment.
PUZZLES: All skippable. I really enjoyed this mix of puzzles.
SOUNDS - 4 adjustments: Music/Sound/Environment were all FANTASTIC!!! The music was left on in my game, for a lot of the time!
MAP: TRAVEL with useful indicators
JOURNAL: None
DIFFICULTY SETTINGS – 4–interchangeable. Not possible to disable black-bar tips.
HINT: Guides and leads.
INVENTORY – Lockable
CHARACTERS: You play as Emma Roberts, the effective and very capable detective. You have limited interaction with others. The characters are excellent, believable and NOT comical. I thought it was genius that the "baddie" creatures were made more benign rather than frightening.
I recommend this game!

Available at BFG since 2014. Review based on completed game. Lots of different graphic styles. Lots of varied placed to visit- gardens, underwater, ship, buildings – with definitely a dreamlike quality present throughout. The graphics change slightly depending where you are. All the HOPS are gorgeous to look at and CLEAR.
GRAPHICS - Widescreen or Fullscreen. Huge mix of graphics.
HOPS: -17- Beautiful to look at HOPS. Word lists with 1 or 2 items hidden further.
PUZZLES: All skippable.
SOUNDS - with 3 adjustments: Music/Sound/Voiceover. At the beginning, there is a rather weird howling wind, that isn't all that good, and get's a bit annoying. BUT that stops after you are past the first chapter.
MAP: TRAVEL
JOURNAL: YES, with notes and tasks.
DIFFICULTY SETTINGS – 3 –interchangeable
HINT: Guides and leads. The hint occasionally seems to indicate an area where there's nothing for you to do, but this means you should use the green lens medallion to look through.
INVENTORY – LOCKABLE
CHARACTERS: There is a leprechaun that pops up on a regular basis. I muted the voices on this game, because the voices were a bit silly and my imagination was able to produce a better effect when reading.
I recommend this game!

Another moody game for me! Wonderful! Beautiful scenery at the island, rainy and damp, seaweed and cold, cliffs and rocks, passages and old huts. Grays and neutrals. You will need to remember where to go, unless you use the hint to show you!
GRAPHICS – Fullscreen or windowed only (no widescreen)
HOPS: 19 Wordlists
PUZZLES: All skippable.
SOUNDS - with 2 adjustments: Music being separate.
MAP: NONE
JOURNAL: YES

HINT: 20 seconds to recharge on Casual, 40 seconds on the Hard mode. No glints or sparkles on Hard mode, EXCEPT for where the HOPS locations.

CHARACTERS: Minimal interaction. The characters are actual people, and you need to help them escape this island.

Available at BFG since 2012…Review based on completed game. Gorgeous scenes better than most 2017 graphics and scenes.
It seems that there is an Exorcist 1 and 2, which I don't intend to play, because they sound more scary than I am willing to play. THIS game is PEACEFUL & RELAXING. You get extensive outdoor views, like cliffs and mountains, and winding paths, mossy woods, giant old oaks (real ones) and so forth. I think that first few scenes, give you a good idea of what the whole game's ambience is about, since it carries on in the same vein.
GRAPHICS - Widescreen or Fullscreen. Natural looking colors.
HOPS: 14 - Wordlists. Kind of a bit sprawling, and nothing special to look at, but ok.
PUZZLES: All skippable. Medium to Hard.
SOUNDS - with 2 separate adjustments: Music and Environment. I noticed there was no mouse-click sounds in my game, but as long as music is separate, I'm a happy gamer.
MAP: NO MAP
JOURNAL: Contains clues
DIFFICULTY SETTINGS – 3 –NOT interchangeable

HINT: Guides and leads. INSTANT RECHARGE on Casual! 30 seconds on Expert and the final mode has no hint.
INVENTORY – NOT Lockable
CHARACTERS: Minimal interaction. NO voiceovers, you read.

Available at BFG since 2017…Review based on completed game. You will enjoy this game if you want to roam around quiet, deserted, desolate looking places, that have seen better days, that include a mansion in the woods with extensive gardens. A game with truly MESMERIZING SCENES It's rather like playing your game within those old paintings you get with faded colors. Lots of places to go to. To get such details, and accurate perspectives, someone had to have based these scenes on real places. Also, the 3 screenshots they provide, or even the video, don't really convey what this game is like, since they concentrate more on the action aspects.
There are several scenes where you have to eliminate demons, most of them are fine, but a couple of them unfortunately go over the top a bit, which I thought was unnecessary to the game, and was actually jarring - like they replay in your mind for a day or so (which I hated).
GRAPHICS - Widescreen or Fullscreen.
HOPS: 9 wordlists and more.
PUZZLES: All skippable
MAP: TRAVEL with indicators
JOURNAL: NONE
DIFFICULTY SETTINGS – 2 –
HINT: Guides and leads.
INVENTORY – NOT Lockable
CHARACTERS: Minimal interaction. The characters are very well done and the whole thing is explained very well.
