I found the story very intriguing, I think the storyline actually saves this game.
Storyline A combination of real-world, repressed memories, manifestations due to repressed memories, loss, sadness, revenge and a hint of paranormal.
Atmosphere I"m still not certain whether this game had zero atmosphere or the emptiness I was feeling was part of the game. It just felt very quiet and isolating playing this game.
Graphics Graphics are drab and cold and I suppose it gives the game a bit of eeriness and adds to the atmosphere.
Gameplay A lot of back and forth and I needed to use the hint quite a bit as I wasn't sure what to do next. The map wasn't interactive at all. HOS's would be sprung on one without expecting it and you play each scene twice. Some puzzles are very easy and others difficult that I ended up skipping. I only found though that at the end of the game there was a sense of urgency but I never felt that during the rest of the game, it was very slow-paced.

This game has the setting for a really good story but the gameplay destroyed the storyline.
Storyline: Interesting as one wakes up from a coma and has no idea who or where you are. Nice plot twist which is revealed near the end.
Graphics: grainy and dirty graphics which gives one that isolated, creepy feel.
Mini games: I skipped the heart monitor game as I struggled with it. This was repeated throughout the game instead of a variety. (I did play on difficult though)
Hidden Objects: I actually liked that it wasn't too easy, had to use the hint option but I still found it pretty boring though.
Gameplay: Lots of walking around and using the 2 lifts (elevators) and yes that is probably what one would need to do if you were on your own in an asylum in real life trying to escape and solve a mystery but it just wasn't very exciting at all. I think you eventually stop caring whether your character gets out of there or not. As per another reviewer your character does something really uncool in the end. I know there's not always happy endings, but still.
As far as asylum games go, I recommend MCF: Escape From Ravenhearst and Nightfall Mysteries: Asylum Conspiracy

This game felt more like an adventure than a HO game but I"m not complaining.
You start off in an old deserted town, then move onto mines and then finally a beautiful fantasy kingdom. I know others have complained about the goblin helper etc but I thought it was a nice touch with Grim Tales veering off their usual script quite a bit. I think everything in the game suited the storyline as you moved between the "real world" and the fantasy world.
I've played this game twice before a while ago and its definitely a keeper. I will be buying the CE version when there's a good sale on.

I absolutely loved K&B Way Back Home so I thought this game would be awesome and I was very excited to buy it.
I'm really glad I didn't waste money on the CE as there is absolutely no challenge to this game at all. Time Management games are supposed to keep you on your toes and you're supposed to be running against the clock but not in this game.
I understand that this is an older game that's why I was cool with the older graphics but the lack of challenge made it really boring. I quit after level 31 as I easily made expert on each level.

This is not the worst Dark Tales but also not one of the good ones.
Goods stuff: Good graphics Under the sea scenes The Lady Raven Fighting mini games Loved the scarab maze mini games People actually looked deceased instead of just sleeping.
Bad stuff: Story has nothing to do with Poe's The Raven, would have been nice to include some elements besides the names You get to choose your type of ending but then the game ends abruptly. Maybe it continues in the CE, don't know. Still don't know the purpose of the raven society. Game felt very short.
I guess it's up to everyone to just make up their own minds about this game.

I absolutely love this game!!!! The levels just keep coming and its very fast paced with very impatient customers. I love the fact that I failed quite a few levels and had to repeat it, just shows the level of challenge of the game. I'm playing Katy & Bob Cake Cafe now and its very slow compared, but it is an older game.

This wasn't a bad game at first. It started out very exciting and I thought finally, a good mystery for a change. The middle part of the game then went off the rails with lots of back and forth and the mystery became more mystical with ruins and such, I suppose if you like that kind of thing its fine. Towards the end of the game there felt like there was more of an objective compared to the middle part. I enjoyed the bonus game as it was a prequel to the main game but it was very short.
Things I liked: Found the graphics and music suited the story Conversations with characters were informative Vast area that the game takes place in.........but Evidence board that one can look at for clues for various mini games etc Really enjoyed the faster paced bonus game...,.....but
Things I didn't like: The mystical part of the story couldv'e been more interesting but instead made the story less interesting I love hidden objects but the repetition of it became too much Loved the vast area of the game but as the map doesn't transport one, there's tons of walking/rowing/driving to do. The bonus game was faster paced and interesting but too short.

I was so looking forward to this game and thought it would be good 'ol detective work but it turned very fantastical with an over the top bad guy.
Detectives: I love the fact that 3 detectives are involved and they all have their specialty which helps to solve the crime. I know Anna Gray time travels to solve crimes and to prevent bad things from happening and James has abilities for solve paranormal crimes but the bad guy doing the same just took the story to a whole other level of unnecessary.
Hidden Objects: I'm all for different types of hidden object scenes but I did not like the black objects with an outline border, would've just preferred the usual list then as it was not interesting at all.
Storyline/Gameplay: I thought the queen's missing jewels and other important jewels that went missing would of course have more to it than what meets the eye but the story turned into a time travelling fantasy type game and I lost interest very quickly. Good detective work went quickly out of the window. The game was also very short and it felt like it was lacking in something. One obviously gets the extras with the CE version but I don't think the storyline is even worth a CE.
I don't recommend this game.

After playing Who Framed Santa I thought this would be another fun Christmas game but it isn't.
Good Stuff: Beautiful graphics Different type of hidden object scenes Loved finding the morphing puzzle pieces, they were not easy and I still had 1 more to find once I completed the game.
Bad Stuff: Didnt feel like a xmas game, complete fantasy game instead Boring tedious storyline and gameplay Playing Mrs Claus in the bonus game didn't help either, her story was pretty boring as well. Paint puzzle in bonus game made no sense, strategy guide didn't help either
Stick to Who framed Santa in this series and the Christmas Story games if you're looking specifically for xmas games as I was.

I bought this game a couple of months ago going by the excellent reviews. I came across this game today and realized that I had finished the main game and not the bonus game, I only ever do that if I find a game boring.
This is a graphically beautiful game, the developers definitely went all out. I just found that there were too many characters, too much to do but no smooth game play at all. I felt like I was all over the place and one easily forgets the objective of the game when that happens.
Maybe I'll play the bonus game in future but for now its not enticing enough.
