I just finished this game and was quite enthusiastic when I started. I enjoyed everything that was happening in the house but once I got out into the forest that seemed endless, it was a lot of back and forth.
Puzzles were ok and only now and then I needed the help of the strategy guide. I played on hard. Same story line of trying to save one's family, nothing really new and exciting. Graphics are done really well and nice bright colours. In the snow scene I actually felt like I was out there in the snow and it reminded me of Dire Grove.
I enjoyed the extra bit of game play of the CE, there was back and forth but the scenes were kept a lot smaller.
I think this is a good beginners game and I will recommend for them. Nowhere close to Legacy and Vengeance.

I played Madame Fate years ago and I really enjoyed it so I recently bought Fate's Carnival thinking it would be way better but it didn't come close.
The game seemed to have gone on forever which is usually a good thing but it just didn't work for Fate's. There was way too much going back and forth and when I say back and forth I mean from scenes near the end of the game all the way back to the entrance of the carnival and its a huge carnival.
The puzzles were really difficult so I had to change to an easy mode and eventually I'd just end up skipping it as the puzzle hints weren't always that helpful and it just didn't fit into the story line in any case.
Just like Grim Tales The Heir, I wanted this game to be over with which is disappointing . Really thought this would be my best game ever but it didn't work out that way.
One positive point though, I enjoyed having the cat help me and she's quite snippy like my cat. Got an extra star just for the cat :-)
I don't recommend this game.

Sherlock Holmes and the Hound of the Baskervilles
Charles Baskerville is the latest victim of a centuries-old curse! Help Holmes break the curse before the next murder occurs!
As per a previous review, I too have owned the game for a couple of years and realised I've never written a review and i've played it quite a few times. I must say I love the graphics, yes its old school but it makes the game feel more authentic like you're actually in Holmes' era.
I love how Holmes and Watson interact with each other and with their client Henry Baskerville, feels very authentic. I played on hard and it got a bit challenging here and there, as in I really didnt know what to do or where to go next so I got a bit of help online but if you play on easy mode I'm sure you'll have no problems getting stuck.
I found the unraveling of the clues and mysteries very logical, it was just me not thinking and not trying hard enough the times that I got stuck. I share the same phobia as Watson so it got a bit hectic at times, was happy to be done with those rooms.
I really enjoyed this game and it felt like I was right there with the 3 characters trying to solve the mystery and the characters voices are really well done, did not find their chatter tedious at all, I quite enjoyed it.
If you're a Sherlock Holmes fan I highly recommend this game and if you're not, play it and you will be :-)
I really enjoyed playing this game and love the cat theme. I played on hard mode and there was no switching between modes which I actually enjoyed as it made me think and when I was really stuck I had to use the strategy guide. A few of the puzzles I really had to use my head as it was random and the strategy guide didn't give a solution.
Yes the graphics aren't top quality but I think it wasn't meant to be, it really suited the story-line. I enjoyed the unraveling of the mystery and the bonus game just wrapped everything up.
Couldn't find all the cats, still had 3 more to go but I will definitely be playing this game in the future so will try my luck again. This is just a fun game all round.
I've played The Legacy at least 6-10 times, maybe even more over the past few years. Its the one game that I can keep going back to and it keeps me entertained.
I love how the mystery unravels and yes there's lots to find but not as over the top as The Heir, you at least feel like you're working towards an objective and you're trying to solve a mystery. The graphics are nice and dark to give it that creepy castle feeling but not overly creepy. Love the howling of the wolves which adds to the atmosphere.
When you're done with this game you are really disappointed that its over but at least with the CE you get that extra bit of gameplay which I enjoy. I think this was one of my first HO games and I've been hooked ever since.
This game started off promising but soon turned into an awful mess. As I went on playing I couldn't even remember what the objective was, only as I kept passing Brandon's unconscious wife back and forth did I remember that I actually need to save my family. My favorite games are HOG but I just didn't care anymore as the game got quite tiring and boring. I hate using the skip button for puzzles and would rather prefer to use the strategy guide but kept using the skip button as I was bored. I didn't feel like I had a mystery to solve like in The Legacy, The Bride or The Vengeance - just felt like I had such a lot of things to do as the game kept me very busy. This might be fine for those who are starting out with HO games but for those that want to feel like they're solving an actual mystery and they're working towards something, I'd say give it a miss.
